Danubius Hotel Astoria City Center - Budapest

Das Hotel ist ein traditionsreiches Haus, alleine der Frühstückssaal ist einen Aufenthalt wert. Der Service ist ausgesprochen freundlich, die Zimmer schön und das Frühstücksbuffet läßt keine Wünsche offen. Mein Lieblinshotel in Budapest, ich komme bestimmt wieder!

Das Danubius Hotel Astoria liegt in unmittelbarer Nähe zur Metro-Station Astoria. Der Donaukorso ist sogar gut zu Fuß zu erreichen. Der ursprüngliche Stil des Hotels ist guterhalten - bei umfassender Erneuerung. Das Personal an der an der Rezeption ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit und spricht hervorragend deutsch.Das Frühstücksbuffet lässt keine […] Wünsche offen. Den Empfehlungen der Rezeption für ein Restaurant sollte man allerdings nicht folgen. Mehr

in allem ausgezeichnet, ausgenommen das Frühstücks-Buffet, wo Qualität der Speisen und des Service zu wünschen übrig liessen.

Wir waren mit dem Hotel sehr zufrieden. Die Zimmer sind sehr schön ausgestattet und sauber. Das Personal war stets freundlich und hilfsbereit. Für das Frühstück ist extra zu bezahlen, aber sehr gut und reichhaltig.

On the positive side, the hotel is well located. For a 'four star' hotel though, it's pretty disappointing. I'm sure there are far better places. The staff though seemed like they were more interested in asking for a tip at every opportunity or making money out of you (i.e. it's much cheaper to get your own taxi etc)

The location was perfect for a easter in Budapest. Walking distance to everything, buth also metro busses and tram outside the door. Friendly and helpfull staff. The restaurant was nice, service good, but the food was without taste.

Very good hotel. Clean, well maintained, in the center, spatious room and close to metro.Some negatives; breakfast was expensive to get if not included in the price and internet very expensive to have in the room. But free in the reception area if you had your own computer. Overall a very nice hotel and very reasonably priced.

A very nice hotel. Most of the staff was very friendly and very helpfull. A very good location, next to metro and trams- buth also walking distance to mayor atractions. If going back I would stay there again!

Good hotel, friendly staff, central location and next to tube entrance. Very convenient although the inmediate surroundings may not look that nice to be around in. However, just 5 mins walk and you enter the rather nicer parts of Budapest.

I have absolutely no criticism of the Danubius Hotel Astoria. The hotel is very clean and aesthetically pleasant, the staff is kind and courteous as well as well-versed in English (great asset for any tourist). In addition, the downstairs restaurant - Mirror Restaurant - has an outstanding food and wine selection with appropriate pricing and romantic […] atmosphere. The location itself is very fine as well, a five to ten minute walk to the Danube River with spectacular bridge views. For anyone wanting to travel to Budapest, the only piece of advice to offer (probably self-evident) is to visit during Spring to late Autumn seasons. I came in February and froze half my face just walking along the river edge. Mehr

Beautiful hotel with a very good service situated in the middle of Budapest. Fast internet connection and friendly staff.

Lovely old hotel (opened in 1914),great staff, tram and metro just outside hotel, unfortunately so are six lanes of traffic.

The hotel is at an amazing location. The front desk was always very helpful and everyone spoke English. They can plan your day for you and give you suggestions on where to go. Our shower-head was broken, when we let them know they fixed it immediately. Great service.

Hotel is very conveniently located and that's make it easy for someone who is unfamiliar with the city unfortunately room was very small, especially bathroom ... I'll still recommend it because of location

The hotel is great! Clean, large and nice rooms, great stuff down in the reception, a very good and not so expensive restaurant in the lobby, a huge!! breakfast etc.. The only minus i've found is that there i no free wifi in the rooms and it costs a lot of money. If i'll visit Budapest again i'll definitely stay there again! P.S I found a very cheap […] offer in Hotels.com and it turned out i've paid almost half price than the other people that were with me in the conference... Mehr

Great location, clean room & well serviced. Good breakfast with lots of variety, but expensive. Staff very helpful. Free Internet "in rooms" is a MUST, in this age! We went next door to McDonalds for a coffee to contact home.

Classic old style hotel. The modern things of life were lacking. The Internet service added $25 a day, and you get better service signing on to the free McDonalds service next door. The tv was old style too. The breakfast was not very nice. The menu in the restaurant got monotonous. Room nice on non smoking floor. Hotel staff not overly helpfull and prices for the breakfast buffet was out of this world. We ate elsewhere. We could see the river if we looked out the side of our window. I've stayed in a lot worse places and a lot better. The internet prices were a joke, and we thought there was an area in the lobby where there was […] free internet, not true. We finally bought a card for 100 minutes for about 17 Euros. Mehr

We stayed at the Astoria as my wife is originally from Budapest and knows the area very well.She recommended it. I found it clean and the staff were friendly and curtious.All our dining was done outside the hotel for variety. Coming from Vancouver BC I was surprised of smoking and non smoking rooms. You could smoke in the lobby.Small elevators. No fans […] in the bathrooms was unusual. Overall we were very satisfied and would recommend and would also return. Mehr

I've been there before and knew what to expect. Excellent location. Good room standard. The service is improving all the time.....although not the 4 **** posted as rating. I'd be happy to recommend anyone staying there although I've never been in the Summer months. Avoid the restaurant. Sub-standard food and overpriced

Our stay at the Danubius Hotel Astoria was barely tolerable. Once a nice place, the hotel is quite old, and it shows in the rooms. Our room had a broken shower nozzle, for example. The real problem, however, was the staff. They were contemptuous, if not downright hostile, to the smallest of requests, such as asking directions, or for a taxi to the train […] station. Rooms are very nice, hotel is located right next to the Astoria metro stop, only two stops from the Keleti train station. Only a few easy walking blocks to the main pedestrian shopping street and the Danube river.

This four star hotel with a lot of character lived up to its billing and more. We were able to obtain a very reasonable rate using hotels.com. It was well located (subway just steps away) and within easy walking distance of many of Budapest's attractions. There was very little ambient traffic noise with the windows closed. The room was very spacious. […] It had a small balcony, it was air conditioned, had a minibar/fridge, a safe, a desk, a small round table and two easy chairs. There was ample closet room, and a superb bathroom (with bidet and hairdryer and piped in sound from the TV). There were two lifts and a restaurant which looked very appealing, though we did not patronize it. The staff at reception was multilingual and very helpful. The only small drawback was that there was no parking and it is located on the corner of two very busy streets, but the hotel has an arrangement with an indoor garage very nearby (with reasonable rates) and that worked out fine. We will return to this hotel and would highly recommend it as we were very satisfied with the overall experience. Mehr

Hotel is living in the past and is not as described on the internet. Although the room was comfortable it was very basic for a 4* hotel. It certainly is not a 4* star more like a 2*. 2 single duvets on a double bed, a big old tv that barely works and with a terrible reception, tiny worn out pillows, a toilet without an extractor fan, windows that dont […] keep out any sound despite being located on the top floor. staff that arent very friendly or in any way informative, cant crack a smile. €14 for a breakfast thats less than basic. The street its on is run down and borded up and at night is littered with homeless and drunks a begging and is very unsafe. There is nothing Modern or Hotel like about this place except that its like stepping into the past in a very bad way. As a worldwide traveller its abundantly clear that 4* hotels in Europe are either a low 3* or a 2*. DONT STAY HERE !!!!!!! Mehr

The main problem was the bedding -- a Europpean issue not unique to this hotel. The double bed consisted of two twins put together, but the sheets were so small that they came apart each night -- the bed didn't really work as a double.

Veldig fornøyd! Strålende vær i tillegg!

Vi havde booket os ind på hotellet for en enkelt overnatning. På Hotels.Com havde jeg booket et værelse med morgenmad og internet, og betalt ekstra for begge dele. Internet var vigtigt på grund af arbejde. Det viste sig så at internettet fra 1. april ikke længere var tilgængeligt på værelserne, men at der skulle betales ekstra for det via en ekstern […] udbyder. Det klagede jeg over i receptionen, men receptionisten kunne ikke gøre noget ved det. Derudover var det en ret varm weekend, så aircon skulle i brug, men den kunne jeg ikke få til at køle, kun varme, heller ingen hjælp her. Bortset fra disse 2 ting, så lå hotellet rigtigt dejligt. Værelset så lidt slidt ud, men der var absolut pænt og rent. Mehr

Hotellrummet var väldigt litet och vi fick inga rena handdukar under 5 dagar, Vi fick byta rum efter andra dagen pga vattenläcka från duschen ut på hallmattan. Personalen var annars hjälpsam och tillmötesgående, men 4 stjärnigt låter främmande. Snarare 2a om det inte vore för entrén som är pampig, och läget som är centralt. Vi var 5 damer som lå der i 4 netter. Hotellet er i gammel ungarsk stil - veldig flott syntes vi. Frokosten var god og servicen god. Kan på det varmeste anbefale dette hotellet. Skal jeg tilbake til Budapest en annen gang bor jeg gjerne her. Beliggenheten er sentral. Få minutter å gå til gågate, og metro rett utafor døra.

ik zou gewoon boeken. Het hotel ligt dicht bij de metro. Stijlvol hotel. Je zult er geen spijt van krijgen.

Meget arrogant resepsjonist, hotellrommet vi hadde betalt for deluxe dobbeltseng med tillegg på enkelt seng. Gjenspeilte seg ikke med det vi hadde betalt for da vi sjekket inn. Standarden var ikke sånn. Rommene var små og utslitt.
