Ich fahre jedes Jahr 2-3 x nach Athen und steige immer in diesem Hotel ab, es ist von der Lage ideal, sehr sauber, das Personal sehr hilfsbereit und das Preis/Leistungs-Verhältnis top. Ich bin den ganzen Tag unterwegs und brauche keinen Luxus, die Zimmer sind klein und einfach,aber sehr sauber. Es gibt keinen Lift, nur eine enge Treppe.

Bisherige Bewerungen kann ich voll bestätigen. Das Hotel ist gut, die Straße, in der es steht, gewöhnungsbedürftig. Ich war im November dort, das Hotel war nicht voll. Mein Zimmer nett eingerichtet, Bett ok, Auslegware, TV, allerdings mit nur 10 griechischen Sendern plus CNN, WLAN kostenlos. Bad mit Fliesen, sauber und schön hell, Duschwanne, kaum Spuren des Gebrauchs zu sehen. Das Personal war präsent, ansprechbar, nicht aufdringlich, nett. Frühstück Minimalstandard: 1 Sorte Käse, 2 Sorten Wurst, Kaffee, Tee, Marmelade, Cornflakes, Gurke, Tomate. Etwas mehr Auswahl hätte ich mir gewünscht, aber so kenne ich es auch aus anderen Hotels. Das Hotel ist zentral gelegen, man läuft drei Minuten zum Omoniaplatz mit U-Bahn und fünf Minuten zur Einkaufszone, die bis zum Zentrum geht, zehn Minuten zur Akropilis. Leider sind ausgerechnet etwa 5 bis 7 Straßen westlich des Omomiaplatzes der Ort von Handel aller Art, Aufenthaltsort von Leuten, die den ganzen Tag nichts tun, Drogen nehmen, auf der Straße leben, alles, aber auch wirklich alles, mit oder ohne Genehmigung verkaufen. In einer solchen Straße steht das Hotel. Als Tourist wurde ich aber von ihnen nicht angesprochen und nicht beachtet, sie sind miteinander und untereinander beschäftigt und verkaufen sich gegenseitig alles mögliche. Ich würde wieder in dieses Hotel gehen, denn innerhalb des Hotels ist von der Straße nichts zu merken.
Lage
Herodion Athens befindet sich mitten in Athen in der Nähe von: Neues Akropolismuseum und Akropolis. Nicht weit entfernt befinden sich: Parthenonas und Pili tou Adrianou.
Ausstattung
Dieses Hotel bietet folgendes Gastronomieangebot: Restaurant. Jeden Morgen wird den Gästen ein kostenloses Frühstück serviert. Ein W-LAN Highspeed-Internetzugang steht den Gästen in den öffentlichen Bereichen gegen eine Gebühr zur Verfügung. Außerdem ist ein Internet-Terminal vor Ort vorhanden. Es gibt ein Businesscenter (rund um die Uhr geöffnet) vor Ort. Dieses Hotel in Athen verfügt über Folgendes: Coffee-Shop/Café, Bar/Lounge und Snackbar/Feinkostbar. Das Hotelpersonal hilft Ihnen gerne bei allen Fragen weiter. Zum Service-Angebot gehört Folgendes: Concierge-Service, Unterstützung bei der Tourenplanung/beim Ticketerwerb und Wechselstube. Außerdem steht Folgendes zur Verfügung: Dachterrasse, Whirlpool und mehrsprachiges Personal. Dieses Haus wurde im November 2008 komplett renoviert.
Zimmer
Die Zimmer bieten Aussicht auf die Stadt. Die 90 klimatisierten Zimmer im Herodion Athens bieten Folgendes: Minibars und Zimmersafes. Im Zimmer steht Ihnen gegen Gebühr ein Highspeed-Internetzugang (W-LAN) zur Verfügung. LCD-Fernseher mit Satelliten-TV-Empfang stehen in den Zimmern zur Verfügung. Die Bäder sind wie folgt ausgestattet: Badewannen-/Duschkombinationen mit Handbrausen sowie Bademäntel, Kosmetikspiegel und Haartrockner.
Außerdem steht Folgendes zur Verfügung: zu öffnende Fenster und kostenlose Toilettenartikel. zusätzliche Handtücher/Bettwäsche und Weckanrufe sind auf Anfrage verfügbar. Der Aufdeckservice wird jeden Abend und der Reinigungsservice täglich angeboten.

Südlich der Plaka verläuft eine archäologische Fußgängerpromenade rund um den Fuß der Akropolis und führt zwischen den pinienbedeckten Hängen des Filopappos-Hügels und dem Herodes-Theater (2. n. Chr. erbaut) hindurch. Im Sommer finden dort Open-Air-Veranstaltungen statt. In der Nähe liegt das Neue Akropolis-Museum, das vom Schweizer Architekten Bernard Tschumi entworfen wurde.

Very pleased with the level of service and quality, generous breakfast and truly excellent location next to the new Acropolis Museum (closed on Mondays) and the Acropolis itself. 5 minutes walk to the Plaka. Parking garage 250 meters away but pricey. Many rooms (above 2nd floor) have view of Acropolis.

"Fantastic Hotel in a Great Location"
The Herodion is a great hotel to stay at in Athens. I choose this soley based on reviews and location and I am glad I did. It is very close to everything you want to see in Athens. Acropolis 5 min walk, museum is next door, plaka, syntagma both a 10 min stroll. When I read the rooms were small, I was prepared, but was pleasantly surprised that it wasnt […] that small, size wise I would compare it to a standard motel in the states, comfort-wise it would be a standard 4 star in the states. I am very pleased with the service I received from Herodion. My flight got in early in the morning, and I was able to check-in well before the check-in time. my room was clean and efficient and the staff was very friendly. Close to many restaurants and cafes. Do be warned that there is a school right behind the hotel and that can get very noisey as it seems they have recess all day, but if you are like me and not in the room very much during the day it shouldnt be a problem. The internet is not free, but it didnt cost me very much 6 Euros for 24 hours. The rooftop and 4th floor gardens are very nice and give you an excellent view of the Acropolis. My room on the 2nd floor gave me a minimal view of Acropolis and was level with the school, but it sufficed. I highly recommend to anyone traveling to Athens! Mehr

"Great Location!"
Great location. Rooms pretty good. We had a king size bed which you don't find very often, so we were happy. Breakfast was a typically European breakfast, which was fine for us. Hotel staff were professional, but not really friendly. Very business like and were not able to help with recommendations for dinners or directions. We stayed for 7 days in Greece and 5 days in Athens - all days at Herodion. The hotel's location is very good and close to Plaka. The restaurant at the hotel is not that great but it is very close to very good places around. Very comfortable stay and would definitely recommend this to others.

Nice hotel in excellent location. The surrounding area is safe and well lit at nights which can't be said for many other parts of the city. Room was clean and fairly nice. The hotel staff were not overly friendly but were efficient. Only negative is the breakfast wasn't of a very high standard but would recommend overall.

I've stayed in lots and lots of hotels lately and this one takes the cake. Rally, it's a perfect location for Athens, just at the bast of the Acropolis. It's close to public transportation and withing walking distance to Parliament, and other locations. They have a roof top deck area which is nice and the Wi-Fi is above average for hotel Wi-Fi.

we came for a relaxed vacation and found an amazing, quiet hotel, just few meters from the Acropolis metro station. the room was clean, warm and beautiful, and the view was the breathtaking Acropolis. must mention the professional staff- the receptionist who kindly carried our luggage to the room (even without asking), showed us the room, explained […] about the room details and even recommended us a great Greek restaurant near by. also have to mention the bartender at the lobby who was so kind and friendly. the hotel is a few minutes walk to ancient Agora, with great cafe's and restaurants, and of course the amazing Acropolis and the Acropolis museum. This hotel is in a perfect location for visiting the Acropolis, Plaka, New Acropolis Museum, and other sites in central Athens. It's on the southern side of the Acropolis, a much quieter neighborhood than the other sides. The hotel is clean and well-appointed, the staff friendly and helpful, and the food in the restaurant is very good. From the moment we entered the Hotel, we were very reassured by the stylish and comfortable foyer and lounge area. Plenty of areas to relax, and excellent staff. Rooms clean and simple. Access to all the sights and shopping in Athens perfect, we walked everywhere.

The staff were very courteous and indeed very helpful with directions. We enjoyed Athens immensely and this hotel was a first-rate choice. It has spectacular rooftop views of the city and the Acropolis, which is a short walk. The area is quiet and attractive within easy walking distance of sights. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were amongst the best we`ve had in Europe. "Staying in Athens"
We stayed at the Herodion for only one night, and we found that If we needed to stay longer it would have been the hotel to be at. It was 150 yards from the the acropolis. And yes on the roof of the hotel you can view the acropolis. It is located on a somewhat busy street and at night it can be a little noisey, but we fell asleep quickly. The staff […] was very helpful and could speak english. We didn't eat at the restaurant, because we wanted to eat at a restaurant that the locals eat at. Mehr

"Perfect Location"
The hotel sits at the foot of the Acropolis and next to the Acropolis Museum. You just could not have a better location. The service is great, the lobby and roof top deck are spectacular but that is where it stops. Our room was very small and being on our honeymoon, the two single beds did not sit well with us but that is typical Europe. The food in […] the restaurant was reasonable compared to some of the places in the Plaka. Tumbs up but the rooms need a little updating. Mehr

Stayed at this hotel twice during September,2011. Perfect location for so many sights and attractions, especially views of the Acropolis from the roof-terrace, and the proximity to the brilliant Acropolis Museum (a must visit venue!) Hotel itself is a little "tired" especially the bedrooms, and the wardrobes are tiny! Reception staff aren't too welcoming...but […] the breakfast buffet is very good. Mehr

"Herodion Athens Hotel, handy to all attractions"
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The taxis were on strike when we got to the airport but we were directed to the train station just outside the airport by a friendly Greek lady. The train was inexpensive and arrived at the Acropolis station which was just around the corner from the Herodion Hotel, so really no need for a taxi. It is located nearby […] the Athens modern museum and handy to the Plaka and Acropolis. We found the staff very helpful. In fact, we asked for a transfer to the port as we were going on a cruise and couldn't get to the terminal without a taxi and the hotel kindly arranged this for us. Thank you very much to the staff member who put his life on the line for us, because as soon as he had dropped us off, his car was hemmed in by two cars (must have been taxi drivers objecting to us being dropped off privately) and a serious argument occurred. I do hope he wasn't injured, it sounded like he was going to be beaten up. (we had walked down to the port and could hear it happening from there). Mehr

We picked this hotel sight unseen and we were so impressed. Right next door to the new Acropolis museum. The roof top deck gives you an amazing view of the Acropolis. The room was really clean, well appointed and quiet. Breakfast was terrific. Staff were patient and very helpful. They sent us to Strofi restaurant just up the street for dinner where […] we ate in the rooftop garden admiring the Acropolis at night. We had friends staying on the other side of the Acropolis in a dump in a really bad neighborhood. This hotel was not much more expensive and was an absolutely wonderful spot to stay in. Staff and local people were very friendly and helpful. I frequently forgot that I was in a foreign country because of the quality of English spoken and understood by all the staff. My only complaint would be the Internet access. It was expensive and very slow; worse than dial up from the old days. It was ok for emails but forget it for reading the […] English newspapers. At the foot of the Acropolis this hotel is welcoming, comfortable and tastefully appointed. It's a calming oasis in a busy, heavily trafficked tourist area. A few blocks uphill is a magnificent Athens restaurant, Sofri.

"Convenient for Acropolis, Plaka, nice breakfast"
Not bad, small room compared to North American standards and basic bathroom, clean but nothing fancy, ancient looking hairdryer but it worked well. View of Acropolis from room was ok, but not perfect. Nice view from roof top with plenty of lounge chairs to sit and admire it from, didn't try the hot tub.

The hotel was next to the fantastic, new Acropolis Museum, within easy walking distance to the Plaka and the Acropolis. A wonderful restaurant, the Athine, is also within walking distance on the same street, which serves Greek specialties and has a roof garden where one can view the Acropolis while dining: good food, wine and a magical setting.

"Perfect Akropoli Hotel"
Visting the Akropoli (Acropolis)? STAY AT THIS HOTEL! It is gorgeous! No need to upgrade to an Acropolis view, you can see it just fine from the rooftop garden. Tranquil doesn't even begin to describe it. The rooms are wonderful, soundproofed, and comfy (albeit a tad tiny, but livable). Down the street are several wonderful restaurants (Smile, Taverna, […] etc.) and gift shops. 3 min walk to the Acropolis Metro Stop, 5 min walk to the Acropolis Museum, 10 min to the Acropolis entrance (due to uphill climb), and 15-20 min to Plaka. Eat near the hotel, not Plaka, you will NOT regret it. We enjoyed our stay so much that we would come back to this hotel in a heartbeat. Super convenient to the metro and surrounding area. Breakfast was the mainstay: dried figs, yogurt, honey, breads, cookies, eggs, etc. If this is an "American breakfast" I have some complaining to do at American hotels because this breakfast is out of sight. Simply wonderful. I mark slightly down on the staff because they were a tad self absorbed and didn't really care to help you unless you were waving Euros in their face. The internet is overpriced, but if you pay for an hour (3 Euro) usually it doesn't expire until the next day :-) Mehr
"Herodion Athens"
The hair dry took 3 days to get fix. The front desk service suck so bad. We didnt get a room with the view like we asked for. The garden view was a wall. The bed was a king size and the tv had a few English channels. The coffee was not tasty at all and I have stayed at more Europe hotels that had better coffee.
"Quality hotel at the base of the acropolis"
Liked the location - close to acropolis and acropolis metro station. Also walking distance to Monstraki. Area is nice with restaurants and cafes nearby. Acropolis museum is next door. Like the marble everywhere. Nice lobby with great restaurant and and bar. Breakfast buffet is very nice. Rooftop is nice with good views of the acropolis and 2 jacuzzis. […] Unfortunately the jacuzzis do not stay hot if unused. Also 5 euros for 15 minutes seems steep. Rooms are small but in line with other places. Two twin beds were comfortable and together in place of king bed. Television was mostly static unfortunately. Bathroom was very nice with marble although shower was a bit leaky. The worst part of the hotel was the paper thin walls - conversations next door sounded like they were in the same room. Was not a major problem for us but would hate to be next to a loud group. Mehr
"Really wonderful stay"
This hotel was wonderful for the price. It included a fairly large free breakfast, a perfect way to start a day of walking. It is near both a subway station and double decker bus tour stop. The New Acropolis Museum in next door. We had a small room but is was comfortable and clean. We opted to sit in the nice lobby area each eve for a drink and review […] of our photos and such. The bathroom was very large but the tub was the smallest I've ever seen. It took several days not to get water all over the floor while using the shower attachment. But again it was very clean. We did not have a room with a view but a wonderful view could be had from the room terrace. I was disappointed with the hot tubs. The hotel charges for there use (not a deposit but an actual charge) and they were not hot anyway so we opted to save our money. They location was an easy walk to all the major sights and many resturants. We stayed at a different (more expensive) hotel later in the week but I think I would have been just as happy to stay here longer in a room with a view instead. Mehr

"The Herodian - GREAT!!!"
I have had the pleasure of staying in some very good hotels in Athens but this proved undoubtedly the best. The Herodian has everything going for it: comfortable rooms, sumptuous breakfast, excellent 'house-keeping', charming and most obliging staff. Most of all though 'location, location, location'! Quite apart from the obvious attraction of its proximity […] to the Acropolis the hotel is within easy strolling distance of most of the places you'd wish to visit - and if not possibly the most beautiful metro station in the world is just a few minutes away! Very handy for some magnificent restaurants - 'Strofi', a few hundred yards up the road, is thoroughly deserving of the many accolades (although the place immediately next door is probably worth a miss). It's not often that an hotel matches expectations but in this instance the Herodian far surpassed them. Mehr
