Royal Sonesta Hotel - New Orleans

We loved the ambiance of the hotel--it was lovely! all the staff were friendly and most helpful. I would choose this hotel over any other on any future trip to New Orleans!

The hotel is great and perfect location in the French Quarter. The rooms are nothing amazing but they are fine.

A little expensive since there are so many nice hotels to chose from. Very small room over looking a very pretty coourtyard with a pool. Quiet, clean. No coffee pot in room, asked for one -never came. Good location to everything in the French Quarter. Hotel resturant good and not overly expensive for a hotel resturant.

We had the concierge floor service with a breakfast service. (Also and evening wine thing we never did.) Would have loved a coffee maker in the room, however, but this was nice. Room had a few oddities (a spring-loaded closet door that slammed shut and the bathroom was a bit small but did have counter space. Linens and bed very comfortable, adequate […] desk and outlets and one comfy chair for reading. The Irvin Mayfield bar with jazz every night was great and you could go right up to your room without fighting Bourbon Street (right outside for better or worse). Desire restaurant in the hotel had good NO offerings and you can walk to everything in the Quarter and warehouse districts easily. Staff friendly. Valet expensive but it is the Quarter. This hotel is worth the price. It's nice to be pampered and had a great stay.

during our visit we developed a friendship with the doorman Malcolm. He added that additonal touch that made our stay inviting and succesful. He started each day with a laugh and we certainly enjoyed many conversation with him. Anyone we know staying we will make a effort to let them know about Malcolm and suggest they get to know him.

My husband and I stayed at this Hotel for our anniversary. Rachel upgraded us to a Suite with our oun patio and King Bed. She was great. We even ended up staying an additional night. The staff was so gracious and professional. Everyone we spoke to was so accommodating. All our tours were booked with Daniel who was very informative and took good care […] of usl. The Jazz bar was one of the best. Our memories of New Orleans will be about the wonderful people we met and our stay at the Sonesta. Mehr

I only gave this hotel a low rating due to the noise of Bourbon Street till 4am outside my window, which I am aware is the very reason for which many/most people come to New Orleans. If you do not mind LOUD club music all night, everything else about this hotel was good, especially the great music/atmosphere in the bar off the lobby (it was not this […] music that kept me awake). If you are in New Orleans to party this hotel is for you; if you are here for history/architecture/antiques/food...then perhaps not. Mehr

Great Hotel

Our room overlooked Bourbon Street, which led us to believe that we weren't going to get much sleep. Thankfully the extra panes on the windows muffled much of the sound so that it was at a tolerable level (helped, no doubt, by the restaurant courtyard directly across the street closing relatively early). The bed was comfortable (although the pillows […] too soft for our liking) and the room spacious enough. Great location, character, and staff was very friendly. Room was less desirable. Lack of outlets, peeling wallpaper, mirror coming off wall in bathroom, small bathroom/room for price. Every day I killed at least 2 stink bugs in bathroom. Room decor was outdated but not old enough to be antique. Walls very thin, heard everything through walls and outside. […] Called valet to have car brought around but nobody would pick up. Room service only open until midnight, even though rest of city stays open all night. When trying to order food at 11:45, the kitchen wouldn't pick up and the front desk told me, "I don't thihk the kitchen could cook anything up in 15 minutes so they are probably closed." Great to stay in a room on the quiet side. When I was ready to go to sleep, the sounds of Bourbon Street were on the other side. Slept great.

The location of the hotel is excellent for those that want to participate in the activity on Bourbon Street.

Noisy at night but it quieted down. Average hotel coutesy for the most part, nothing really stands out about this hotel unless you want to be right down in the middle of Bourbon St. and all that hoopla. There was Bible in my room, should be like most hotels.

Be sure about the dates you schedule. This hotel has a very harsh cancellation policy, much more than any New Orleans hotel I've stayed at.

Well, considering it was Mardi Gras day when we arrived, it was nearly impossible to get to the hotel, so we parked and walked. We got there a little too early, but they were happy to store our bags for us while we roamed around. Once we checked in, everyone and everything was more than helpful and convenient. Great location for Mardi Gras and the king size bed and pillows were excellent. The room size was adequate, but tiny compared to Vegas suites. Room came with a stocked mini bar a nice size 50" screen on top. In room dining was very good but pricey as expected. Had to wait 45 min to check into room upon arrival, but Hotel staff was friendly and helpful. Overall […] experience was very pleasant and memorable due to fantastic location and comfy bed. I'd give it 4 out of 5 stars and would definitely recommend it to anyone staying there during Mardi Gras. Mehr

Although I didn't have a balcony on bourbon street I had a window tier only problem was that the window didn't open. I love the hotel though and it was very nice.

Beautiful hotel and right in center of the quarter, but be aware that there is a lot of street noise if you're in an outer room. If you don't mind the partying that goes on well after midnight, this is a great place to stay.

We asked for (and received) a Bourbon Street room, but noise was not an issue, except for rowdy guests across the hall. It's New Orleans. The linens were fabulous, the room immaculate. Both bellman and concierge were helpful when I needed them, and the location is great, with self-park or valet garage.

The room I booked they did not have available! Valet was expensive and extremely slow, the bell man brought our stuff to the wrong room, our entire experience was horrible. I will never stay at this hotel again.

The location is perfect. Unfortunately, there are some riff raff establishments around but you can't really avoid them. The staff is fantastic. Valet parking is available and it was within walking distance to everything. The rooms were very nice. Didn't hear any noise during our stay.

The Royal Sonesta has a great location. Easy walk to trolly line pick up or any French Quarter location. Very comfortable bed. Great hotel, especially for the price.

This hotel is awsome! I love this hotle! :) Location is perfect if you want to enjoy exciting Bourbon Street night life in New Orleans. Room condition is also neat and luxurious. I will definitely stay at this hotel if I visit New Orleans again. But you should be able to afford this little bit expensive room rate.

Hotel great. room very small 18 inch peproni pizza from room service quick and good, but $40.15 ? Yikes. included delivery and gratuity. A bit much i think.

This hotel is great, staff was very nice, rooms very clean and location is the best for people who like to be in the middle of the party

This was the perfect hotel for us especially since it was our first visit to New Orleans because of the location, friendly and helpful staff, cleanliness, safety, and overall service. The hotel offers great food, drinks, and entertainment. The Irvin Mayfield lounge was fantastic and the music was phenominal. This hotel is a very nice and convient hotel if you want to be in the "middle of it all" on Bourbon Street. When I do go to New Orleans and want to stay in "The Quarter", this is where I prefer to stay.

Bourbon Street is a little scuzzy, but we found the Royal Sonesta to be clean, quiet and classy. Our room was quiet, it did not front onto Bourbon St, which is a good thing for us. There is so much to see in NOLA, support this city by having a visit!

the hotel is very nice besides the point that if you dont ask for a nice room you end up in a very simple plain room

Beautiful hotel, on Bourbon street! Recommend valet parking. All staff were extremely friendly. Can't wait to visit again.

The hotel was awesome once we got there. The only problem was getting there. The hotel is on bourbon street so we could not drive up to the door. It was not their fault though. There was a football game going on and some streets were blocked off, so we had to park 3 blocks away. Don't get me wrong, if we would have been able to get there earlier we […] could have drove to the entrence. So to anyone going to this hotel get there early. We were married that day, so they gave us a bottle of champaign , chocolates and some roses. The hotel staff made sure we enjoyed our selves. If you are looking to be in a central location of the French quarter stay here. If you don't like to party and drink stay some where else. Because if you leave the hotel any time after 7:00 pm you will be right in the middle of a giant crowd. If you like jazz they have a great jazz club in the lobby with plush seating and wonderful music. They offer a very nice low light, romantic location. Our room opened up to the pool deck. It was beautiful. We ate breakfast out side. I loved it. There is also a nice outside bar, next to the pool. Overall I had a great time. And my new wife loved me more for getting such a nice retreat.
