Hotel Westminster - Nizza

Wir genossen 2 Tage im Hotel Westminster an der Promenade des Anglais. Wir hatten eine Suite im 5. Stock mit sensationeller Aussicht über die ganze Bucht. Einziger "Fehler": Zwischen Hotel und Strand verläuft die grosse Strasse mit viel Verkehr, die aber den ganzen Strand entlang führt. Der Strand ist steinig und nicht sehr breit. Wir waren auch nicht […] für Strandferien hier. Die Altstadt von Nizza ist gut zu Fuss erreichbar und wunderhübsch. Unser Zimmer war sehr gross und hatte einen kleinen Balkon! Alles ist sehr sauber und gepflegt. Nur der Whirlpool hat nicht funktioniert. Mehr

We loved this hotel so much that we stayed here for 8 days. Great location, right on the promenade. Beautiful view. Yes it's loud st night with traffic, but we knew that from reading all the reviews. Earplugs help. Comfy bed and sheets. Clean, newly renovated.

The noise level from the busy road are extremly high even at night which doesnt allow you to keep the balcony window open or relax in the open hotel bar

The hotel location is ideal. It is definitely worth paying the supplement for a sea view room because the sunset and sunrise over the Bay of Nice are spectacular - and particularly pleasant when you are sitting on your 5th floor balcony to watch the display.

Very helpful and eager to please. Very central location; middle of all the shopping district. Reasonably priced.

The most glaring defect is the lack of a good sized lounge. Our bathroom tended to smell unless the air conditioning was on. on two mornings we awoken very early by loud noise from machinery . Receptio told us it had to do with the city council and water investigation. Most staff were courteous apart from the bar staff. Nevertheles we were impressed […] by some of the period features. Stayed here for 5 nights, excellent location, staff very helpful and friendly. Would stay here again, we were on the first floor street facing, that was noisy, but overall very satisfied. I would definately recommend this hotel in Nice

Really nice hotel. Service was outstanding. Nice location on the promenade and within walking distance to Old Nice. Short cab ride to and from the airport and train station. I have just one complaint. It has one of the those modern showers where you wish the glass door functioned as well for as aesthetically pleasing as it is. No matter what we did, […] the water kept creeping out and flooding the bathroom area. It was a minor inconvenience and more of an annoyance than anything else. We just sopped it up with the towels provided. It's not the first hotel that we've experienced this problem, but it always seems to happen when they upgrade to the modern styling. No curb-side porter, but very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent location. For the same price as an interior courtyard standard room at the Negresco (2 blocks away), I had a very nice Jr Suite with a large balcony on promenade.

This hotel was located in the best location, we paid a little more to get a sea view room, worth every penny. The room was clean, had all the mod cons you would expect and large for European standards. Can highly recommend the hotel for anyone wanting to stay in a great location.

Great hotel - wonderful view and balcony small issue with shower - did not drain well so it flooded each morning, but the rest was excellent. very large room

I booked this hotel for my grown sons to stay in while vacationing in Europe. They loved the hotel and said it was fabulous and in a great location on the beach. They were pleased with the entire experience there.

Excellent service, ideal location both for Nice and for travelling to other resorts. Very pleasant and professional staff. Altogether, an ideal place to stay and would happily return there and would recommend to anyone.

A delightful hotel right across from the beach. The staff was outstanding and very accomadating. Our rooms were beautiful and baths were quite large. Very tasteful. If you want a shower, be sure to put that in your request or you might get just a tub. Would go there again!

We stayed for three nights in early April and had a wonderful time. The hotel was well maintained, staff was friendly, we didn't eat at the hotel, however. Prices were reasonable and room was fine. Also had free wi-fi (had to ask for login and password at reception). Would definitely recommend and go back!

Great location on the Promenade des Anglais. Even though our room had been recently renovated it seems the rest of the hotel needs a bit of the same renovation/updating. Friendly and very helpfull staff.

Spent 4 nights at the Hotel Westminster. Our room (City View) was huge - by far one of the largest rooms I have ever had in France. Location could not have been better - right on the Promenade. I still cannot get over the state of the room they first showed us, it was dark, cramped and dreary. It did have a balcony but if I had had to stay for a night in that room I would have had to jump off it. There were even a pair of dirty socks left on the balcony, perhaps from the last victim? The curtains were hanging off the rail and it had not been […] redecorated for years and years. We asked to change rooms and they quickly agreed next room although it had no balcony and no double glazing was at least clean and modern. Why were we shown to the first room, did they really think it was good enough? The first room was a lower standard than you would find in any reasonable hostel the 2nd room was a poor 2 star level. It is a travesty that this hotel is ranked as 4 stars. I pity the staff that work here. Mehr

Our hotel had tons of old world charm. It was located along the Promenade Des Anglais and our ocean view made the whole experience. The suite was huge...unfortunately, no shower only a bath with hand held shower head and the jacuzzi wasn't working. Other than that...it was wonderful! The breakfast was simple but delicious as is all the food. The staff […] was WONDERFUL and very helpful! While there, there was a strike and we had to rent a car one day which could've become our ride to Paris later...but, the train we had a reserved was cancelled and we were able to catch a later train that same day. Overall, a fantastic experience in Nice and now we are in Paris enjoying everything here as well! Mehr

Right on Promenade Des Anglais. Across the street from the private beach (there's a fee) or the public beach right next to it. Short walk to: Castle Hill, Vieux Nice, Cours Saleya, etc. Beautiful hotel. Clean, comfortable rooms. Found the room to be a bit larger than the other hotels we stayed at in France, but probably still small by US standards. If […] I ever make my way back to Nice, I would stay there again. Mehr

The hotel exceeded expectations. Despite being centrally located on the Promenade it was very quiet with the insulated windows and the roll-down volés. Parking close at hand in a garage around the corner is a luxury in Nice.

This was not what I expect from a 4 star hotel. it started when there was NO BELLMAN to help us bring out luggage in---none at all. The hotel lobby looked shabby, and so were the rooms. This hotel is in a great location--but it is in MAJOR need of a remodel. We wouldn't stay there again.

Location location location. This is what this hotel has in spades. Loved the old-world ambience of the Westminster hotel. Would highly recommend a stay here. The food was quite pricy, however, a casual stroll through the back-streets of the quaint old town will more than reward you with an abundance of restaurants.

can't cpmplain about location and the room size was big compared to rooms in france, but surly i wouldnot stay again in this hotel, i made only two calls to a friend staying in other hotel in Nice they to find that they charging me 80 euros for phone calls when i refused to pay and asked for manager they asked me to wait for the morning to file complain […] because manager was not available at evenings!!!!. room service never pick up phone. i otrderd some hot water needed for medication they charge me for it... don't go there . certainly i would not step foot there again . A first class hotel by all counts. It is in a great location with great views. It is the staff that makes it truly great. We arrived from New York at 9:30AM after 14 hours of flying that started in San Francisco, and inquired if we might get a room earlier than the 2:00PM checkin time. We were in our requested room at 10:30. It was a trying weekend […] for the staff as it was the beginning of a week-long France-African Summit that had heads-of-state from three African countries, along with their entourages, in the hotel. This did not keep the staff from continuing the great service to us. Finally, we were embarking on a cruise on the opening day of the Summit and the central city was a logjam as the main Promenade d'Anglais was closed to vehicles. Taxis were avoiding the area, but the hotel manager was able to get one to commit to pick us up, and the porter stayed with us on a street corner behind the hotel until the taxi arrived. To us, that is a mark of a great hotel that really delivers on service. Mehr

I stayed at this hotel twice during a recent trip to France. Once the room was facing the back and side street and once I was upgraded to an oceanfront room. Both rooms were clean and in good condition, although the back-facing room was VERY small with a stuffed chair that was really too large for the space. HOWEVER, that's the only fault I could find […] with the property. The staff is incredibly helpful and the bellman even walked with me to the nearby parking garage (not hotel-owned) with my luggage when checking out. If you can get a reservation here at a discounted rate from their normal rate you will definitely be pleased. It's not the cheapest property, but the location makes it worth the price. Ideal for couples who want a special experience (honeymoon or anniversary) or for older clients who don't want the hassle of long walks to get to the Promenade des Anglais boardwalk. Mehr

We recently spend 3 nights at the Westminster to celebrate my husband's birthday. We enjoyed our stay very much. The hotel is charming, in an old fashioned way, and our room, with a balcony overlooking the sea and the Promenade des Anglais was all that we could have hoped for. We had dinner at the terrasse restaurant one evening and the food and service […] were both excellent. Our one disappointment was that the private beach opposite the hotel charged us a high price for its use. We had assumed that as the hotel had no swimming pool the use of its beach would be included in the price of our stay. Aoart from that everything was splendid, and we would recommend it. Mehr

The Hotel Westminster Concorde is a classic European hotel centrally located in Nice, right on the Mediterranean, with private beach access. It is an older hotel, but has all the amenities to make for an enjoyable stay. The hotel had a very nice patio overlooking the sea where you could have cocktails prior to going out for dinner

My daughter and I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights w/c 7 September. Weather was fab, location of hotel - great and reception & portering staff - very helpful and pleasant. We had a room with a sea view on the 4th floor - the room didnt have a balcony (which we hoped it would), but the windows opened fully and we had a great view. The traffic was noisy […] and constant, but when the windows were closed, it was pretty quiet. I found the beds comfortable and clean, the room a bit on the small side and the bathroom - fine and we did have a shower screen! The hallway/stairs areas are a bit tired and definetly need sorting out, but as you are only in these areas to get to/from your room, this isnt a real problem. I would definetly stay there again. Hotel Westminster was in the perfect location. We were upgraded for free to a room with a sea-view, but the room was not renovated like the ones in the pictures. The bed was "ok" but it wasn't the most comfortable. And the A/C (which is critical in the heat and humidity) could have used a boost. That said, I enjoyed my stay very much, the staff was […] friendly and attentive. As for beach access - the hotel does not have its own private beach, rather it has an agreement with a company on the beach where you can pay for access per day per person - and it's rather expensive (in August 2009 it was 16 euros per day per person). But there is also a public beach directly in front of the hotel. The hotel will give you extra towels for the beach, and you can cheaply buy chairs for less than the price of a single day at the private beach. The beach is rocky so you'll need watersocks or something. I found the information on the beach access lacking, so here you go! Mehr

The Hotel Westminster is a great beach front location with a beautiful view of the Mediterranean Sea. Close by shops and restaurants. Only one problem there is no parking.

This hotel is wonderful! We had a room facing the sea -- sensational view! It is located in the perfect spot along the Promenade des Anglais. We were extremely pleased!!!

We booked a Sea view room and looked out over the Promenade Des Anglais and the Mediterranean - it was an amazing view. The beach was just across the street and the Promenade Des Anglais is a beautiful place to stroll. Our recently renovated room was tastefully done and very comfortable. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful.

Very limited staff. Pillows need to be updated. They may have been in use for 30 years. Lumpy and flimsy. Taking a shower is daunting with no curtain or door, and the clip for the hose head makes it nearly impossible to take a shower. We left at 5:15 am for an early flight and no bellman available to help with luggage. Bell staff doesn't arrive until late […] morning. Clean and grand rooms. Mehr

A little shabby but the location is fantastic

A "grand dame" type hotel that needs some updating and renovation. Lobby area is disappointing and the rooms are nothing to write home about. The bathrooms are nice but the rest of the room and furnishing need to be updated. Location is great though and definitely ask for a sea-view room with a balcony.
