Days Inn - Orlando Maingate to Universal Hotel - Orlando

If you just want a place to sleep and shower and you you don't want carpet, then this is for you.

For starters the frint desk girl. Was extrimly acomodating and helpfull. Atention to detail, information, directions and aditional sevices exided my expectations. Making it a great deal as well as a gi back to hotel when ever in Orlando. Plus its walkung distance from Universal Studios, golden Corral and eaven a Walgreens as well as many other restaurants. […] If coming in grom airport, just take the 41and then the green line... ...yet somehow the hotel managed to sink below them. The ice machine was leaking, broke, and smelled of mold. The bathtub and toilet had chunks missing. There was mold in the shower. The room had an unidentifiable odor that was trying to be covered up. Of the 15 TV channels available, 4 were snowy. The toilet barely flushed. The dresser was losing pieces. […] Some general maintenance, cleaning, and a few cans of paint would do this hotel wonders. The hotel did not ruin our weekend, but I would not stay there again nor would I recommend it to others. There are differing reviews about this hotel. I believe that may be due to the hotel having multiple buildings. It is possible one of the other buildings is much better. But from the outside I would not bet on it. Many other hotels it the area. Great location, but I'll choose a neighboring hotel next time. Mehr

This hotel was fine for what I needed - a place to sleep for one night, that was very close to Universal Studios. Not pretty, but it got the job done.

The price was right but did hear the highway noise. Would have been nice if there would have been internet in the room and a hot tub at the pool. The shuttle to the theme parks only runs once in the morning to the park and once in the evening to return. It was not convient to use so we took our own car.

This hotel was great - clean, helpful staff, great room amenities. The location was amazing - walk or few dollar cab ride to universal/city walk and tons of local restaurants/stores. We had no problems whatsoever. I've stayed here three times and will continue to do so.

Great location to universal, but carpet was filthy and stained, bathroom was dirty. Just a place to catch a few hours sleep. If you were to spend more than a nite, I would look else where.

we went to monster truck jam at the citrus bowl and spent the night and went to universal the next day, great location.

We stayed at this hotel for our visit to Universal. The hotel ad stated that they had free shuttle. After we arrived we found out that the shuttle only ran twice a day (once in morning/once evening). BUT then we found out that we could just walk there. We walked. It was a short easy walk. There are lots of places to eat at Universal and in the area. […] LOVED the location!! The room was clean. Hotel was close for Universal Studios actually within walking distance, although we always took the car. Rooms were kept clean and comfortable. This is basic accommodation but well worth what you pay. The pool was warm and kept heated pool bar was open unlike other hotels I have visited in January in the Orlando area. For the price, you have to know that you're giving up some amenities and aesthetics. I went with friends, between the ages of 25-27, so we did not have kids to please or adults to follow. The hotel itself is decent, they have clean beds, but the television in my room was broken and only had about 25 % of the available channels. If you want a cheap room […] and are not looking on spending too much time there, it's fine, but be wary of your surroundings. I parked my car in the lot and arrived the next morning to find a massive dent and puncture mark in my front bumper. Of course, that lot did not have any cameras but I doubt that even if they did, it would have mattered at all. If you have some extra money, spend it on another hotel that you feel safer at. Or, do what we did and roll the dice. At least the Indian restaurant next to the hotel was pretty good. Mehr

Walking distance to Universal. staff and services were good. Clean, basic room. Free shuttle service to disney and universal parks was great convinience. They have a nice Indian restaurant and a gift shop in hotel. In all a pleasant stay at a very convinient location

My wife and I recently stayed here and the first room we received had 2 pieces of bubblegum stuck on the side of the headboard. Pretty big pieces of gum that should have been noticed in a cleaning. We asked for another room which we received that was much better and had ceramic floors as the first room had dirty carpet.

The hotel seemed to be under new mannagement so taking that into consideration, the grounds where clean but the outdoor parts of the hotel needed repairs, cleaning and paint. The inside needs upgrading with appliances as well as bedding. Overall for the price it was a pleasant stay. The only one complaint we really have is that free breakfast should […] be included with every room. The distance from the motel to universal was a short nice walk and this was a plus. Mehr

We had 2 rooms one was very nice and one looked like an old maintenance room converted to a bedroom. TV was bad, AC controls were missing, there was mold in room and a musty smell. We have stayed there multiple time in past and will go again. We were very dissapointed in our stay this time. But lacation and price was good.

We stayed for 3 nights around New Years 2012. The carpet in the room was disgusting. It made the soles of our feet black after walking on it, so we took to wearing flip-flops most of the time. Some rooms appeared to be tiled, so if you can get one of those, it might not be so bad. Also, the phone cable had been ripped from the wall by a previous occupant, […] but the cable and wall jack 'skillfully' hidden behind the bed so we wouldn't notice. It was about the least expensive hotel within walking distance to Universal we could find, but that's about its only redeeming quality. It gets the job done if you spend most of your time somewhere else. Mehr

I enjoyed staying at this hotel, the suttle service was very convenient, this hotel is close to everything, Starbucks, walmart, etc. There is only wifi signal at the lobby, which I didn't like but I would highly recommend it to anybody interested in saving money and be comfortable at the same time.

Although the hotel was very close to the Universal Studio in Orlando, and was therefore a convenient venue; I would not recommend it as a good venue in which to stay. The maintenance of the rooms was poor. The first night was spent in a room which had several issues with safety and maintenance. The light switch did not work as you entered the room; […] the toilet was not fixed to the floor or the wall and we had to wedge something under the pan to try to stabilise it; the hot water tap was loose; the towel rail fell of the wall – and so it went on. When we asked to be moved the following day there was no quibble at all and we were immediately given an alternative room. Only a few things did not work properly including there being no bath plug so a bath was out of the question. The cleanliness of the rooms was only just acceptable, with seals around the plumbing having a decided addition of mould/mildew and hair from either the cleaner or previous occupant/s still being in evidence. If you want to be very near Universal then by all means book this hotel. However, I will never stay at a Days Inn again. Mehr

The rooms are poorly maintained, dirty and the overall appearance is bad.

First room was a disaster. Broken fixtures and non working appliances. Complained to front desk who said they would send up a maintenance worker. 5 hours later nothing fixed. Complained to desk and was moved to another room. Computer at front desk was down more than it was up so changing the room took about 45 minutes. Location is nice but what a h […] assle. Mehr

This hotel has a great location, and the overall cleanliness of the place were the only things it had going for it (minus the swamp water behind the buildings covered in litter). Our hotel room was clean, but very dated. I think we got about 9 total channels on the 1990's tube tv. The shower had more water coming out of the faucet then the showerhead […] while trying to take a shower. It was very hard to find a comfortable water temperature, since more than half the water was being wasted down the drain. After unpacking and finally getting to go out for the night, we realized our door wasn't latching behind us. Everytime we pulled the door shut, it would open back up. After many attempts, my boyfriend realized we had to pull up on the door and pull it shut so it would latch properly. We denied room service the 3 days we were there, because we didn't want to risk the chance of our belongings being accessible to everyone on the motel grounds. It is pretty bad when we felt it safer to lock our valuable belongings in the car, rather than our own hotel room. As we were leaving that first night, we were given a farewell by some thugs hanging out on the balcony holding up their red shirts signifying their "blood" gang affiliation. I almost lost it. I immediately began checking other hotel rooms on my phone to see if there were other hotels near by for the rest of our stay. I did not go to the office on this because the reservations said non refundable, and cancellations would lose all monies paid. After that first night, we didn't see them again...thank goodness!! For the price range we were in, I would spend an extra $10/nt and stay at one of the many other hotels down the street or anywhere else for that matter. We were charged an extra 2.00/nt plus tax while we were checking out for an unpaid balance. When inquiring about what was unpaid since we had paid for our room in advance. The man at the desk points to a sign, and says right here. This sign says it will be 2.00 a day Mehr

It was ok for the price they only had wifi in the lobby,the doors to the rooms are tricky they pop back open if you slam them...so double check when leaving...close to everything and the trolley

Before I made reservation at this hote, I read the reviews. Some was horrible to read. I stay at this hotel for 2days, it was clean and no problem with services. The only complaint that I had was the air/heat conditioner. It woud not go off, then it went off on its own and never came back on. My husband and I overall experience was great. Friendly, efficient staff. Nice pool. Easy parking. Clean room. TV needed updating. The place is VERY inexpensive so I have no real complaints. Other guests seemed happy. I checked very carefully for bedbugs and so did my bug hating daughter. We found no evidence of any in the room.

We were very disappointed with this hotel! We weren't expecting a luxury resort, but did expect the quality to be at least a little better than it was. We were surprised at how many things were in disrepair or of poor quality, both in our room and around the buildings of the hotel. Our mattresses were very uncomfortable (one was too hard, the other […] one too soft), the room was chilly and we couldn't turn the air down or off, and there were no extra blankets. Tiles were broken and falling off the wall at the base, and the dust and pieces from them had not been swept up. The floor of the room was all tile - no carpeting at all, which surprised us. And we went out to try to find some water bottles or something else to drink, and found that all of the vending machines around the property were not working!! We could not get into the front lobby to find a drink or ask about the machines, as it was late at night and they closed and locked it up soon after we checked in. The outside of the hotel needed a lot of repairs and some painting. We will never stay here again and are willing to pay a little more to stay at a better place next time. Mehr

Hotel looks nice from outside but once you get in it then it's a completely different story. My husband checked under the beds to make sure there was nothing unusual because we had never walked into a hotel room like this before. We didn't trust hotel staff so we left the "Do not disturb" sign on our door handle until we checked out. We ordered some […] dinner one night and then had some drinks, put left over food in fridge, but left cups out. Unbelievable what I found the next morning; the nightstand, sink and table next to tv was covered in tiny ants and it was a bunch, Thought that was weird seeing that the cups were only in one spot. They advertised free internet in rooms, there was none and not in lobby either. They advertise coffee maker in room, there was none, They try to charge you for a safe fee even though you didn't use it. There is no microwave in room only a fridge. The people were rude. The hair dryer caught fire. There was mold on bath room door. They charge you for […] using their shampoo. They charge you for extra towels or wash clothes. They charge you for local phone calls. We had to ask twice for fresh towels. The only positives is hot hard pressure showers and comfortable clean beds. I will never go back to that hotel and I will never recommend it to any one. If I was hotel.com I would take them off my list. Mehr

Not very clean, room smells of cigarets, carpet dirty and stained very badly, TV only had sound on certain channels, fridge old and rusty, shower hanging of the wall and the bath was dirty, towels hard and dingy, and to top it all of there was a bullet hole in the window and the door wasn't that secure, the resturant also didn't look very clean, the […] shop was small and packed, staff very un friendly, the reception staff were ok. This Days Inn is right in front of Universal Studios and very cheap. The rooms were pretty dirty with mold all over the place in the bathroom and the skink falling apart.... But it was in a very convenient location with free parking.
