The hotel is nice. The service is spotty; i.e., some on staff give great service, others give horrible service. I wouldn't stay there a second time. The location is easy to get to from the airport, but the surrounding neighborhood is not worth anything you may be saving by staying here. Great place to stay!! Perfect location - the pool was fabulous and my husband loved the gofling. Very friendly place to stay. Our full ocean view from our room was stunning. The restaurants were excellent. We're cattle people from the midwest and the prime rib dinner was the BEST prime rib we've ever eaten and the crab legs that went with it were delicious […] - didn't want to go home. The Kauai Marriott was absolutely gorgeous. The beach was convenient w/ many water sport activities. The pool was refreshing w/ just the right temp, Everyone kind and helpful with any question or concern. Comfy room. The only criticism I would have is they don't greet arriving guests w/ leis. I was really forward to it...who wouldn't be?

Great location with beautiful pool and nice safe beach. Good food at 4 different restaurants. Not much night life here or anywhere on the island; perfect for relaxing in paradise! Staff very helpful. Lots of activites to do (or not). Beautifully landscaped with nice looking golf course.

This is simply the best hotel I have ever stayed at in my life. The resort is breathtaking, the landscaping at the hotel may be the single best I have ever seen, regardless of location. The pool is unreal, the beach is great, and the best restuarant on the island is at the hotel -- Duke's. The only issue I had, and I came to understand this isn't an […] issue with the hotel, rather the island, is we had a SINGLE DEAD cockroach that appeared in our room the morning after our first night. I informed the front desk about the issue, and they immediately changed/upgraded our room free of charge. Upon talking to locals and research, however, I almost felt bad. It is a tropical climate and no matter how often you fumigate, clean, etc. they're around. The fact we didn't see another the entire trip was almost amazing, as I saw them at other places around the island. However, the customer service regarding the issue, and just the customer service/quality of the hotel was so amazing I could care less the issue even took place. I guess the point is, if you're a person that hates bugs, stop trying to decide which hotel to book on the island and pick a different place to visit. If you still want to visit the island, this is the best hotel you'll find. Mehr

This hotel is 75% a time-share property - not really a hotel. It was built in 1960 - and looks like it. To one side it looks across an employee car park to the cruise line passenger terminal - which looks like an industrial site. The pool area is large but surrounded by ugly columns from what looks like a 1970's makeover - extremely garish and ugly. I […] would not recommend this property to anyone. Mehr

My daughter and I recently stayed at the Marriott Resort in Kaua'i, and I cannot praise it enough. I am very picky about hotels' cleanliness, customer service and activities. This hotel has it all! It's clean, the staff is very courteous, efficient and accomodating, the grounds are pristine and the adjoining restaurants are quite good. We've stayed at some of the top hotels in the US, and this was the best!!! The views and service were top drawer. Price was a bit steep compared to other 5 star locations, but worth it.

The hotel looked just like it was advitized, the pool was wonderful and the view from the balcony to the pool and the ocean was awesome

This was the nicest place I've ever stayed - the staff, the hotel grounds, the room, the spa and the food were fantastic!

This property is a time share - it is not really a hotel. The property is extremely old and tired and looks out onto the cruise line passenger terminal. When the cruiser docks for the day the passengers are going to share your beach. The parking lot for the terminal is right in front of the hotel. This is not the usual Marriott standard. I would recommend staying here if you have an early flight in the morning, and early helicopter reservation, or traveling with a family. While the pool isn't necessarily any different than Marriotts in Orlando or other resort areas, it is large and the nearby beach is good for kids as it's protected from the larger waves even in winter or on bad wather […] days. The rooms themselves are very standard. It is nice to be walking distance to some good bars and so close to the airport. We stayed in North Kauai for most of our trip but spent our last 2 nights here to be close to the airport and copter tours.... Mehr

A beautiful place to stay. View fr. our room was great; overlooking pool & beach. Staff was very friendly & courteous. Meals, drinks etc. are quite pricey but similar to other resorts in Hawaii. P.S. - Let your guests know there is a time limitation for the 25% discount @ the nearby Portofino's restaurant.

This is a beautiful resort with convenient parking. The swimming pool and beach are gorgeous. Every thing is great at this place but at check in, please prepare for few extra minutes at check in. As we all know, this is a high end place and make sure you have few extra bucks in your pocket.

We were satisfied with out hotel, even though construction was going. At the time of booking, we were told construction would be going on, but not near where we were staying. This wasn't true. Another issue at the time of booking, we told our reservations came with daily breakfast. This wasn't true as well. We would have chosen a hotel that included […] breakfast-especially since it was 25 dollars a person every morning. Mehr

Rooms small for a first rate resort, our room next to elevator was unimpressive. Far below the Hyatt on Kauai. Best feature was the pool.

We only spent one night there, but it was great. The place is just beautiful, the pool is great, the beach is right there, the staff was incredibly helpful and nice. They also have a Linger Later program which kind of lets you stay in your room (or another, if they're really booked) until 6 PM. This was fantastic, as we had a 10 PM flight and were trying […] to figure out what we were going to do with the kids from Noon to 8 PM, but still stay fresh for the red-eye home. Guest Parking is a trap. The Hotel location is right beside where the cruise ship docks.

we did not like the fact that we had to go pick up the rental car ourselves. i think this should be discussed with enterprise. have you not seen their commercials. "we pick you up" that should go within the hotel setting also.

Great pools, hot tubs and beach.

Really nice property. They comped us parking since we were there just 1 night and they upgraded us to a Pool View from Garden as well as letting us check in early at 11am. It's a mega resort, which is not typically our style. Still we did really enjoy it. Ate in the poolside bar- that food was very nice. Location is stunning. The resort was extremely well maintained, beautiful, and exceeded our expectations. Very satisfied.

Great Resort, beyond expectations.

We travel to Kauai every year and the Marriott has a great location, convenient to the airport and a great pool. The service for the most part was good, but the valet/bell hop area was horrible, they were rude and I had to unload my car and carry my own bags to my room after waiting 20+ minutes. If you travel light, don't need luggage help and want […] a place with a nice pool it may be worth a visit. However there are lots of choices that truly want tourist business. The charm of the Marriott Lihue has worn off for us, due to what we experienced when we arrived. Will stay someplace else new next year. Mehr

Somewhere in small print it says that rooms booked through online sites are not eligible for reward programs. We didn't know this. The pool is wonderful and updated rooms are lovely. However, the business center is a pain when we were simply trying to print boarding passes. It is a charge by the minute setup and costly as well as not user friendly with […] no one available to assist. Mehr

Beautiful hotel, just lovely. Pool is amazing and is family friendly without being overwhelmed by children. We ate at an Italian restaurant on their grounds and it was just okay for what we paid (a lot). Be prepared to be somewhat nickel and dimed...for use of plastic floats in the pool, internet use, even self-parking, the poolside drinks are very […] tasty but very pricey. Mehr

This is a nice hotel! A super pool, and great restaurants, and great rooms. Most of the remodeling is done, from what I can tell, and three of the four hot tubs were open. We'll definitely book this one again!

Some of the service received was quite good and personnel were cooperative and did their best to assist. However, this was not consistent throughout stay at hotel. In addition, although the breakfast buffet was satisfactory, no notice was given that only a brunch was available on Sundays for $37 plus per person! Every thing is great about this hotel, service, rooms, etc. however, seems like a stay in Las Vegas. Pool and surrounding area is great but extravagant as if a hotel in Las Vegas.

The hotel was beautiful, but the hotel is being revovated, so when we were there, some construction was taking place. I believe that is not as much of a problem anymore, but there are still a few issues, such as: no room service for anything but breakfast. We wanted to have dinner in the room one night., but couldn't. Every other hotel that I have stayed […] at in this price range has provided room service for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This may only effect some people, but there is no smoking on the hotel grounds. You have to go off grounds to have a cigarette ( though I don't smoke anymore, this seems extremely restrictive). I think they should not prohibit smoking outdoors. Also, you cannot get a drink before 11:00am. Occaisionally, I like a bloody Mary with breakfast (especially when I am on vacation). Since we routinely have breakfast early, this was an issue for me. Other than that, we had a very nice stay. Oh, one more thing. They charge for Internet in the room, since it is LAN line in the rooms (wireless in the main outdoor areas is free, so it does not make sense to me). Be aware that you will be charged $12.00 / day to park your car yourself. So you might as well use valet parking. The place is spectacular, but very large, so allot of people (though it seems to accomodate allot of people without a problem. The restaurants(4) were very good, and they have the largest pool I have ever seen ( must be 100 feet in diameter). As mentioned, it is a great place with a couple of minor issues, but I suppose all places will have some issues. Mehr
