Town and Country Resort & Convention Center - San Diego

Schöne große Hotelanlage direkt in einem Konferenzzentrum, daher gut geeignet für einen Tagungsaufenthalt - das hat aber auch seinen Preis. Die Verbindung sowohl über Straßenbahn als auch über Busse ist gut, genau wie der Zimmerservice etc. An der Rezeption gibt es aufgrund der Hotelgröße eher eine Massenabfertigung. Die Zimmer sind gut ausgestattet […] (z. B. Kaffeemaschine vorhanden). Was ich vermisst habe, war ein Kühlschrank. Direkt nebenan ist das Fashion Valley in dem man gut Shoppen gehen kann, wenn man diverse Markenkleidung mit Heim bringen möchte, jedoch auch einige Möglichkeiten zur Täglichen Essensversorgung findet (auch im Hotel gibt es aber die ein oder andere). Eigentlich ist die Anlage des Town&Country schön, sie ist allerdings nicht mehr ganz frisch. Die Zimmer sind großzügig und sauber, die Möbel und Ausstattung in Ordnung. Manche Zimmer sind allerdings mit lauten Abluftgeräuschen oder mit Fenstern zum großen Highway hin mit einem permanenten Hintergrundrauschen ausgestattet, das ich als störend empfand. Die […] Leute sind sehr nett und hilfsbereit. In der Nähe ist eine shopping mall, überwiegend für Kleidung, die Attraktionen der Stadt sind via Bus/Strassenbahn oder Taxi gut erreichbar. Insgesamt für Konferenzen in Ordnung, für einen touristischen Aufenthalt würde ich eine zentralere Lage bevorzugen. Mehr

Parking system and availability was disappointing. Room furniture was on the old side. We stayed in a courtyard with the beautiful roses. It was a great setting in the sun to relax, have a drink talk with friends.

I have stayed at this hotel a number of times, Only because it is a host hotel for events that I must attend. Every time I stay at this place gets worse, I'm sure in its day it was wonderful. This time I ordered room service for breakfast so I can get ready at my leisure. After 1 hour no food, called they said its on its way, 30 min later called again, […] at they said oh they will send it right up. Called 20 min later. And was informed that it was sitting there but they did not know the room number. First i was dumb to get the room service in the first place but common. in all the calls no confirmation of room. The next time I do this event I'm staying at one of the other hotels in the area. I Will not Return. Mehr

This place was great after getting another Hotels.com place in San Diego we arrived at and where not happy with at all, we check out of that one in 5 minutes and had to scramble for a place. We arrived and it was such a relief. This place is airy, nicely decorated, big, and a great location within this resort type hotel. Room door was squeaky so much […] we had to limit the ins and out but other than that it was a huge relief after the run down motel we booked the same day and couldn't get a refund. The bathroom was small.i was chargrd 20 dollar's for parking on top of my nightly rate...horrible!The room was hard to locate as well.

The hospitality of the staff was very impressive and I was very satisfied by them. They were friendly and willing to accomodate me as a guest. My room was very comfortable and large with plenty of room for up to 8 visitors. The only thing that I might point out is that the restaurants located on the resort grounds smelled "old" inside but other than […] that I was quite satisfied with my stay at the resort! Mehr

Can't beat the convenience of walking a couple steps over to the convention center for your conference. The hotel isn't near anything else exciting, you'll need a car for that but if you're going a convention it's perfect.

Two many things to list that went wrong.

when I booked the hotel through hotel.com, the parking/Wi-Fi was "not mentioned" and the hotel.com does not know it either retrospecitively. As most hotels around hotel circle are free parking, this hotel charges $XX per day [two digits], a fee so high and not even mentioned upfront is misleading. Front desk people are not very helpful either.

Staff was very helpful and friendly. Made our stay very enjoyable.

The hotel is very conveniently located in San Diego. We were only 5 minutes from downtown, and we were right around the corner from the mall. Sea WOrld and Qualcomm were very close as well. We had good service. The only bummer is that you don't have free parking and you have to pay to have a fridge in your room.

The setting was excellent. My one complaint is parking is terrible. I have stayed there twice. Both times the hotel has had an event at its convention center. They do not tell you this when you book a room. All the parking is metered in and out with just one way to get out. If you need to leave when an event has finished, it will take you at least half […] an hour to leave the parking lot. Because of the parking issue I am not sure if I would stay there again. Mehr

Very disappointed. For a convention hotel, the rooms are unsuitable and too small. No desk to work on and the internet connection lousy. The walls are too thin. The smell was also unbearable. (likely that it was tried to get rid of someone smoking in the room at some point) The staff at the coffee shop just wasn´t up to the job of serving a long line […] up and was nearly falling asleep serving. The worst thing though was receiving a package. Told to pick a "message" up at the Front Desk, to be told I would have to pick it up at the "Package Room" at the other end of the resort, just to find no one there. Finally I manage to get someone giving me my package I have to pay a $5 per package fee. Seriously, despite other hotels charging a fee like this they at least deliver it to your room. To have to pick something up yourself and then being charged a "service" fee is simply ridiculous. Mehr

The grounds were beautiful and that is the only positive thing I had to say. I got sick staying here because of the cold. The doors wouldn't close, the room was porley designed and layed out. The lamps shocked me. When I told them the heater wasn't working, the maintenance call came back and he didn't come by. He stated that the heater wouldn't come […] on until it hit 60 degrees outside. 60 !!!. I'm from the north and that is even to cold for me. I got sick. You have to pay an additional 12 day for parking which I also think is rediculous. The place was a ghost town. This place is not set up for the casual business traveler, but for large events - This became obvious to me real quick. Would not recomend. Mehr

Booked this hotel for two nights last minute. We were very happy with our room, and the overall resort / hotel. It is a huge place. We left our kids at home, but we noticed that there were many familes there, and lots of activities to keep them entertained. Behind the hotel is the MTS Train, that takes you to all the tourist spots in San Diego. We used […] it and had no problems. Also behind the hotel is a huge mall with lots of great stores. We have already recommended it to multiple people, and we would stay there again. Mehr

Yes overall is good. Room is clean and price is reasonable; however, we need to pay $11 for the parking.

Where do I start? Check-in was a nightmare. We arrived at 9:45pm. With four representatives behind the counter (two of which were on the phone), the wait in line was over 35 minutes. If there was any saving grace, the reps were friendly and professional. I was amazed that we were required to pay for a packed there level parking structure which was nowhere […] near our room. It's a shame that pics can't be posted along with these reviews. It would be quite a revelation to compare the website room pics to the room pics we took. This "luxury" resort has rooms comparable to those you'd see in seedy motels in a movie. If all-you-can-eat restaurants use furniture and floor colors and patterns to curb your appetite to limit your stay, then the Town and Country Resort & Convention Center must use their unsightly, outdated wallpaper and carpet to ensure the limited stay of their guests. Now, true, this was at night but amazingly we were even less impressed with the resort in the morning. After a 15 minute jam in the parking lot to get to the pay booth, checking out was a repeat of the check-in fiasco. Needless to say, I, my wife, and my kids are all in agreement that this vacation getaway is a definite "please stay-away". Oh, by the way, the TV remote didn't work with the TV that had non-functioning buttons. Mehr

The staff was awesome. To those who have never used a conceirge, use theirs, You can't go wrong. The room was out-dated but fit the theme of the hotel. Pillows could have been softer. Now, for those who need to travel around San Diego, use the trollie that has a stop behind the Parking Lot. Really Nice. We went to two games and did not have to pay additional […] parking fees at PETCO. It was $5 for all day travel. The property was huge with many choices for food, beverage, etc. Got lost a few times but the staff was was really friendly and gave great directions. Would I stay here again. YES. Mehr

I was stuck in one of the older buildings and the room was embarrassingly out of date and falling apart! To add to that, every night I was only given one clean towel and no wash cloths. The bed was uncomfortable and it wasn't that cheap at all. Don't stay here! I will not be back.

I will have to say the resort is pretty big. The pictures are misleading. There is a really nice and big tower with a lot of guest rooms, but what they have not included in the pictures is an area of the resort with old buildings. Im going to guess 1950's. Looks like an old motel and they have just added to the grounds over the years. The grounds are […] nice, but check which buildings they are putting you in. We got stuck in the 1950's room. They smell. The walls are paper thin and if you like grandma's house from 1981 this might be the place for you. We got there and the room had no hot water. Seems to be an issue with this place. Parking was 15 bucks but they were offering parking and wi-fi for 9.99. So much for that. We were less than 300 yards from the front office and couldnt connect to the internet due to "low signal". At least parking was cheaper. Also we couldnt find any parking. We had to park in the middle of the road with our hazards to unload our bags and my husband had to park at least a five minute walk away. We would never stay here again. Our room had some seriously old furnature and plumbing but fine bedding and was very clean. Sprawling propery is kind of nice but everything in it is at least 20-50 years old. Time for an.

This place is huge. The grounds were charming and location of this hotel was great... right next to Fashion valley mall and golf course. The rooms, although spotless, were small and very dated (in style about 20-25 years ago). The room we stayed in didn't appear to be used much and sliding mirrored closet doors were off their tracks which we fixed […] fairly easily ourselves. Some TLC and investment into this facility could bring it back to its 1980's splendor. The grounds are beautiful and peaceful. Mehr

I really don't think they need to charge for parking, especially in a lot of that size. Also, the line to check in was unacceptably long. I know it was a holiday weekend, but that was a bit ridiculous. The parking structure had an extremely low ceiling, really low and kind of scary to drive through. Parking is at a premium at this property. I was charged for parking and wi-fi access which is usually included in the price of the hotel or offered for free. The only time I am charged for parking is in Chicago, NYC and so on where the property is a high rise. The staff could have been friendler upon arrival but the whole experience is worth repeating. Air conditioning would make things so much more pleasant!

My family and I enjoyed the resort amenities such as pools and restaurants, as well as being in such a centrally located area to all of San Diego's great attractions and beaches. We would definitely stay there again!

VERY outdated, the room was so humid the sheets were wet, 15 dollar parking for a hotel 5 miles away from downtown, A complete waste of money.

Overall, the experience was pretty good. The room was large & clean. The front desk was flooded when we arrived, and probably could have been handled better. The grounds are beautiful, and there are multiple swimming pools and on-location amenities. The parking is horrible, especially as they charge for parking. I have stayed at the Town and Country in the past for business as well as family trips and we had been satisfied with the room and property. For this stay however, I got a room in the much older section of the hotel. The room was much smaller, and the bathroom was tiny, not a great situation for a family of four. In addition, the shower diverter was […] not working properly, but maintenance did get it fixed within the hour. The beds were not very comfortable. Another concern is parking. If the hotel is nearly full, parking for the older section is not adequate, not enough spaces available. One is forced to hunt for a space, or use the garage or large lot that services the tower rooms. In my case those lots were about a 1/4 mile from my room. I would suggest that guests confirm with the hotel which building their room will be in, and change if possible to one of the newer rooms, perhaps in the towers. Mehr

Though the rooms could use a remodel to update carpet and bathroom, the facility and grounds more than made up for that. If you have more than 2 people in the room it is a bit cramped.

Many better choices of hotel in the erea so stay away from this hotel

The room was clean, the bed and pillows were comfy. The decor in the room is weird, blue floral drapes, blue carpets and a chandelier. Minimal lighting. Landscaping is very pretty, garden feel. I enjoyed the pool and the whirlpool!

It wasn't the worse... but definitely not the best. My girlfriend, who is white (i'm black), even noted, "Wow, they put all the minorities in this back tower." We really didn't see anyone white in our tower, but there were plenty of white people in other, closer towers. Just stating our observations. Beautiful landscapping with tons of trees and flowers. This hotel makes you feel like you are at a swanky resort in the early 1900's. Tons of restaurants and activites,

I liked this place, but it was pretty secluded from the rest of San Diego. If you're a little younger, and looking for something to do, try somewhere else downtown. However, if you're looking for a quiet place to lounge by a pool and get lost, then this is it.

we arrived at 9:00 that night only to find out our bathtub nozzle was broken and we could not turn it to get hot water. After 30 min waiting for maintenance to show up, we called and just asked to find us another room. They were quick to get us settled into another room. I had ordered a room with king size bed and I've got a room with 2 beds smaller than queen size. When I called the front desk to complain about it, the phone kept giving me a busy tone for about 30 minutes. Once I was able to reach the front desk, they told me there were no more rooms available to exchange for mine. The beds were uncomfortable. This […] was not a good weekend getaway. Mehr
