Das Hotel hat eine tolle Lage in Midtown am Südrand des Central Park, und die Zimmer auf den Park haben eine phantastische Aussicht bei Tag und Nacht. 5th Ave. liegt um die Ecke und zum Theatre District kann man zu Fuß laufen. Der Service war (für New Yorker Verhältnisse) freundlich und entgegenkommend. Probleme gab es allerdings in der Bar und im Restaurant: […] beide so gut wie leer, was bei der Qualität der Bedienung nicht verwundert. Ein im Zimmer beworbenes Pre-Theater-Dinner war im Restgaurant dann nicht verfügbar, was zu unangenehmen Diskussionen führte. Größter Nachteil des Hotels ist der Erhaltungszustand: der Chippendale-Charme der 70er Jahre mit Kristallüstern und Brokatvorhängen ist für ein Hotel dieser Kategorie nicht mehr angemessen. Das zeigt sich insbesondere am Zustand der Bäder, die dringend überholt wreden müssten. Insgesamt: tolle Aussicht und Lage für touristische Aktivitäten, wenn man über den Erhaltungszustand hinwegsehen kann. Mehr

In need of a makeover, but the location is good. No power outlets anywhere. Couldn't print boarding pass in business center without paying....possibly a malfunction rather than intentional. Room was not the cleanest by any means. Hairs in bathroom etc.

Great hotel in an outstanding location. Great views of Central Park. Staff was wonderful and very helpful. Room was much larger than I anticipated for NYC standards. Room was very clean and well appointed. Bed was comfortable.

Our room on the 20th floor had an excellent view of .Central Park. The room was not one of the recently refurbished units and it did show its age. However, the mattresses did not show any sign of wear and the beds were comfortable; can't quite say the same for the 2 sitting chairs. Other than the chairs and minor cosmetic updates, all other amenties […] worked fine with plenty of hot water. Food in restaurant and Harry's bar was superb. Can't wait to return in the fall. Mehr

I was a little disappointed with view of the city from my room. But other wise it was in a perfect location, and most of all it was across from Central Park. If you love New York City like I do you will stay at this hotel.

We stayed there last week and had a wonderful experience. The room was clean with plenty of towels. We only had a queen bed, but the room was spacious. The location is perfect; the continental breakfast excellent. The winter price is very reasonable, so I would stay there again. Great location for wherever you want to go. My girlfriend looks under the bed and everywhere else in the room to check cleanliness, this is the first time she had no problems with the room cleanliness. Had a super stay.

Great location, beautiful park views. The restaurant was wonderful, the bar was fine.. actually expected better. All the service people were professional and very competent. Keep your eyes open for special deals....

Have visited NYC a couple of times each year for several years, and have concluded the Helmsley Park Lane is the ONLY hotel for us - class, comfort, and hospitality on Central Park for an affordable price.

Rooms with a VIEW ON CENTRAL PARK are lovely acoomodations We take a room with a view when on pleasure trips. While in NYC on business I stay in less splenid rooms with interior view. They are comfortable but ordinary

My first time to stay at HP and we loved it. Right across the stree from central park and walking distance to theaters and restaurants. Was cheaper than the other hotel where my seminar was being held and much nicer. Lot of activity in this area right before Christmas.

The Helmsley Park Land Hotel lends itself to the magic of NYC. Everything of wonder is at your disposal with Central Park at your fingertips. However, the bathroom was disgusting! Hair, dirt, broken shower rail on the wall with rust behind it and the biggest problem...those curley hairs on the floor and in the tub. Unfortunately, all true...with pictures […] to prove it. Staying postive...we tried to overlook it due to a short visit and the hassel of moving to another room once the problem was discovered. This is the hotel to stay in for New Year's Eve festivities, exclusive shopping, a jog or walk in the Park, carriage ride, or just a visit ot the local Apple store to hang out with all the other groupies. Perhaps before your bellman leaves...check the bathroom...so he can roll your luggage to a cleaner room if needed. Oh yes, and request a Central Park view...phenomenal! Mehr

This hotel was in a great location across from central park and alot of nice shops... The rooms were very clean and organized the hotel staff was nice but it's not A new hotel the food was ok nothing spectacular but the convenience was why I would stay there again. Nice atmosphere....

If you can get a good price on a room, this hotel is in a great location and gives you a real NYC experience. The hotel is relatively small and does not have a ton of amenities like a restaurant, bar, fitness club, pool, etc. but the rooms are nice, the staff is friendly and if you love Central Park, the museums and 5th ave shops, the location is amazing. […] Valet parking is expensive, but very convenient. I have stayed at hotels throughout midtown and would recommend the Park Lane to friends and family. Mehr

This was the perfect location if you like being in the thick of things. Within walking distance to TAO and LAVO restaurants, the Apple store and all the high end shopping and places to eat. Being right across the street from Central Park is also a plus. The rooms were spacious, the beds were comfortable. We had some difficulty getting cabs because it […] was in such a bustling area that cabs were usually taken. But only had to wait 5 minutes twice. My only gripe is the awful breakfast buffet. It is only cold croissants and muffins and fruit for $30+. Not that it wasn't tasty, but they could get a few hot things and some protein in the buffet, especially for the price. You need something a little more hearty in your stomach to start the day. I would definitely recommend it for business as well as pleasure. Mehr

I stayed 5 nights in January (12) at a special rate with continental breakfast (continental, small choice but good quality bagels, croissants etc and fresh fruit, fresh juice, decent coffee), the breakfast room is nice with a lovely view of Central Park. It's a hotel that attempts to provide a luxury experience and good value, I would say it succeeds […] in some areas (breakfast service, grand breakfast room, polite staff). The reception is poorly designed on the Central Park lobby side, I wouldn't like to check in during a busy period. However the rear entrance has a generous space to sit in sofas. I didn't use any facilities (bar, restaurant, gym etc) so can't comment. I found the staff efficient, the security staff excellent, I had a persistent problem with my room door lock, which they eventually replaced, but it was dealt with promptly and didn't disrupt the stay. To summarise I would say a comfortable place to stay (for business, shopping and sightseeing) that can offer a bit of style and good value, at this time of year, in a fine NYC location. Mehr

View of the park is spectacular from the 2nd floor restaurant. Leon was a fabulous maitre'd . convenient to all the good shopping, the Met and the park. Loved it!! Sarabeth's next door is a special place to eat!!

Nice quiet room, comfortably furnished, comfy queen bed. Perfect location for museum-going, dining and shopping! Hotel staff professional, easy check out process.

Excellent staff and service in ideal location .Extra bonus was the excellent food from dining room competing with the best restuarants in town and overlooking beautiful Central Park .

We loved the hotel. The location is perfect, the staff was very attentive and forthcoming. The room was clean and comfortable, excellent temperature control. Breakfast was included in the room rate, and we were very satisfied with quality of pastries, breads and coffee.

I seems the rooms booked through Hotles.com are on lower levels with no view and are older rooms that have not been upgraded. Overall, for the price we paid it is hard to complain about the hotel since it on Central Park South.

For what we paid for the room I'd say it wasn't bad by NYC standards. Our friends also stayed - their room was better than ours. It was overall cleaner - The location of this hotel is really convenient based on what your NYC plans are. It's obvious by the decor and condition of the hotel room/equipment, etc. that they are in need of renovation/upgrading. […] If I was going to stay overnight in NYC again I would consider this as a possible option however it wouldn't be at the top of my list. The location was wonderful. The rooms were HUGE and the view of the park is amazing. The rooms haven't been updated in a while and the carpet and decor is a bit tired.

We are originally from NY but usually stay on the Eastside or downtown when we visit. From now on we will stay at Park Lane. Great location, comfortable beds and quiet rooms. The service was excellent and everyone was helpful. We will definitely be back.

We had intended to meet some friends for drinks. All that I can say is that I am happy I went to check it out first. It was shabby, dreary and smelled terribly as if they used a strong disinfectant of some sort. I would have been emabarrassed to take guests there. We went instead to the Rose bar at the Plaza nearby and had a wonderful experience. Otherwise […] the hotel was a good value in a great location. Mehr

Rooms offered at a discount at this hotel mean rooms that have yet to be refurbished and are old and tired. So an inviting discount at the Helmsley meant the rooms were not their best. They are clean enough - and the location is great - but if you think you are getting a massive discount on a great room - that's not the case.
