Ballsbridge Hotel - Dublin

Für einen Kurztripp super. Bushaltestelle direkt vor der Tür. 30 Minten zu Fuss in die Fussgängerzone. Das Bad sollte dringenst renoviert werden. Im Familienzimmer sind die Ausklappbetten durchgelegen. Das Personal ist freundlich und hilfsbereit. Ich würde das Hotel wieder buchen.

Da das Hotel unter Wasser stand, wurden wir leider 2mal umgebucht( vom 11. zum 12.11.) Die 2. Umbuchung war in Ordnung. Befremdlich war, dass es ab 21 Uhr nichts mehr zu essen gab. Das entspricht nicht dem Standard eines internat. Hotels.

mit dem Bus, aber auch zu fuß ist man schnell in der Stadtmitte,und Ballsbridge ist eine schöne Gegend

Was completely at home although away from home. Would deifinately recommend to a friend

I was happy with my stay but we were given a disable room which ended up being a nuisance. The switch for the light was beside the switch for the door and on a few occasions we opened the door instead of turning on the light. Good job no one was walking past or they'd have seen a sight for sore eyes!

Room could do with a serious update. The interior of the room was very grubby and it didnt feel overly clean. The tv remote didn't work. The pillows were like lying on rocks and the duvet cover though clean had an extremely dirty old duvet inside it. We found the parking in the hotel to be very expensive, the cost of cetting access to the internet for our laptop was outragious, the rooms and decour if the hotel was dated and needed refurbishment.

A bit hard to find, but in a nice neighborhood, very convenient to Dublin city and port. Good restaurant/pub area, large nice room. Very good value. Just get good directions if driving to it (close to other D4 hotels - OK if you follow canal, not river, to Beggar's Bush then get on Pembroke St).

While the entrance, carpark, and bar are impressive when you walk in, the rooms are not the same. Very clean but very dated. Quite old fashioned. There was no iron in the room and it was cold during the night which was in march. Shower had lots of hot water but the toilet kept blocking slightly. Very comfortable and I would recommend it but just don't […] expect a modern style. Staff were extremely welcoming. Location is the highlight. Mehr

I stayed in this hotel over a weekend on a business seminar. I found it very clean and comfortable. Staff were wonderful. Excellent location to City Centre as well as being peaceful at night.

1. Rude staff! 2. Misleading photos- hotel very dated. 3. Blocked toilet, grubby shower, broken taps. 4. Mouldy smell off shower curtains. 5. Smell of stale beer from room. 6. Duvet cover clean- actual duvet absolutely minging. As were pillows. 7. Bar overpriced. 8. Dull lighting- only supply was lamps. 9. Shabby curtains that don't close properly. 10. […] Felt as though any queries were an annoyance to staff. 11. Greeted with a stren "YES?!?". 12. Given a blank face upon checking out- no smile or "Thank you for your stay!". NEVER AGAIN! Only plus was location and SOME bar staff. Reception staff very rude! Was genuinely shocked by the way we were treated in this hotel- definately doesn't deserve a 3 star title. Mehr

I'm a pretty no frills traveler - all I require is "safe and clean". The hotel was safe, but cleanliness is an issue. Mold on the bathroom walls, peeling paint from the ceilings, broken telephone, stained blanket, and a mattress that was stained by something that could have been blood or old coffee (I only discovered this as I was checking out!). The […] heater rattled loudly at night, and there is noise from the street. The walls are thin, and I was woken every night by other guests in the hallway or in their rooms. The hairdryer is for some reason attached to the desk in such a way that the only way to use it is if you are kneeling (clearly, a woman did not design this!). The faucet on the bidet was broken. The hotel is quite a walk to city center (about 20-25 minutes), which can be hard if you are the kind of traveler who likes to put your feet up for part of the day. The property is in massive need of refurbishing. You can tell the hotel was once very lovely (perhaps in the early 90s), but has not been cared for much since then. I would not stay here again. I was not sad to leave. On the neutral side, the bed is quite firm. That's great if you like firm beds. It's not great if you prefer soft beds. On the positive side, I will say the staff was very nice and kind. Mehr

My husband and I stayed at the Ballbridge Hotel (known at the time of our booking as the D4 Ballsbridge Inn) over St. Patrick's weekend with our friends. Our hotel room was spacious, but left something to be desired. The television was tiny compared to the room and was impossible to watch from the bed. Our room was missing a trash can, so our trash […] ended up on the floor next to the tiny bathroom trash can. There is no information book in the room, so we had to guess how to call the front desk and from room to room. Our bed also had a mattress pad instead of a proper mattress. Also, although the staff were not rude, they did seem indifferent about our comfort or happiness. The hotel has apparently been recently purchased by new owners and renamed, so they could not bring us a new information book and refused to bring us an old one. On the positive side, there was a closet with enough room to store both our bags and hang our clothes and the bathroom and bedroom were large and clean. The hotel is very close to the American and Israeli Embassies and an unfortunately long walk to the city center. The bus system in Dublin is fairly expensive, so it was a 40 minute walk to the Grafton Street area each morning. The hotel breakfast was expensive, so we walked into town to eat each day. All in all the Ballsbridge in is not a bad hotel, but it is certainly not great, and could use some improvement. For the location and price I think we could have gotten a better value hotel elsewhere. I would not stay here again. Mehr

Lacking the little things, Kleenex. Use of certain credit cards not accepted in different part of hotel. Missed important wake-up calls. Poor response to numerous calls to repair telephone.

Hotel is fine for the price and convenient. It is quiet and as I am working that is a big plus - no noisy nightclub.

better than our previous stay, this time on 4th floor which was an improvement on 8th! Maintenance issues still exist, this time with room key cards which frequently would not open connecting corridor doors. Breakfast selection was not great on sunday morning, probably because the hotel was pretty busy and staff were slow to top up. Room was comfortable but cold on arrival (told heating not switched on until 8pm!), also only two pillows supplied in double room. Power point above desk was smashed, part of desk falling off, towel rail fell off wall when removing towels, bin lid also fell off, so maintenance sadly lacking! Unfortunately during our stay there was a school prom that […] evening, and a large number of young people partying from around 5pm until the early hours meant that a quiet night was not had by all! OK as a base, but a little too far out of the City Centre for more than a one night stay. Food in The Dubliner Bar was good and staff friendly. Mehr

When you beat Ireland in Dublin who cares about ones hotel?

Quite clean. Cons: * No heating in room after 9pm * no thermostat for room * Iron has to be requested, often they run out, ironing boards are filthy with brown stains * WiFi costs too much, but you already knew that * rickety lift restores faith in a higher power * room keycards are v v sensitive so almost every return to hotel have to wait ay reception […] to get it reset * dark rooms with only s tiny bit of light from low power bulbs Pros: *aircoach stops outside, dart train very close, bus stop across the road. * cheap * large roomd Mehr

We upgraded when arrived at the hotel, was worded in a way in which you felt obligated to do so but the room was modern and comfortable and decorated nicely. lovely spacious room, big bed unfortunately the bed was springy and the phones in the room were not connected so was a nightmare trying to get through to reception on our own mobiles. nice location. I only paid 103 euro for the room for 2 weekend nights and although it was only occupied by myself it could have slept 3 people so that's good value for money definately.

Hotel was fine, very close to the RDS, where we wanted to be, but would not be ideal if you want to be in the centre of Dublin. They are currently doing it up, so it is starting to look less jaded, but the rooms have not benefitted yet (well ours hadn't anyway). The mattress was obviously old, as it had a sag in the middle, which didn't make for a good […] night's sleep. The food in the bar was basic but good quality. The service was really excellent, the staff couldn't do enough to help, just a shame they were let down by some of the 'comfort factors'. Hopefully these will improve with the makeover. Mehr

The Hotel is good. The recent renovations to the Hotel following a flood make the decor look a bit more cold and clinical. The Dubliner bar is not as inviting as before and the fact that 4 large televisions screens were in operation at the same time with different sports is a bit over the top and distracting.

My phone didn't work and when I mentioned this to the front desk in person they seemed non-plused at best. The heat was down, they didn't change out the glasses or clean them out sometimes and the bathroom smelled of mildew. While mentioned to the staff seemed to go unnoticed. It was too far from the center and their airport information changed with […] the staff. I asked for directions and got no response. Overall, I would have paid more for a better place had I known. The Hotel's location is very convenient and is close to all amenities. The room is quite spacious if a little dated in terms of the decor. My only issue was that the toilet broke on the morning we were leaving but it was not a big issue. The standard of service was excellent and you can check in to the hotel 24 hours a day. The use of the car park is […] expensive at €10 per night - when comparing other hotels. Overall excellent and I would recommend this hotel to others. Mehr

We were booked into a room with a connecting door, which was unlocked and could not be locked from our side-next to a family with 3 little children who started screaming and playing from 6 o'clock on. This connecting door transported all this noise on top of street noise as we could not close the window- the room must have been about 26 degrees warm […] with a baking radiator which we turned off, but it still would not cool down. The bed was with only about 1.4x1.9m far too small for a room that was spacious enough for even two much bigger double beds. The door was rattling all night in the draft and in top of things we had no internet connection as the wifi did not recognize my name to this room, even though I booked the room and checked in under this name. We found the car covered in bird excrements, so bad- the first thing we did next morning was driving to a car wash! You could not see through the windscreen! And we were charged over €10 for parking in the hotel yard, with another €10 for the car wash. We were not asked if we enjoyed our stay when we checked out, only to pay for parking, otherwise we could have told the staff directly but it was obvious that no one there cares anyway. On arrival we were greeted by an incompetent person at reception who didn't know if there was Wi-Fi in the hotel or how it worked. When we got to our room and opened the door we were literally knocked backwards by the smell. The room smelled like a nightclub toilet or poorly serviced public toilet. It was disgusting. Once I notified reception, we were […] moved to the D4 Berkley around the corner and given what appeared to be a better standard of room. Unfortunately, after going to bed we discovered that the air conditioning unit in our room sounded like a Massey Ferguson 165 that had been parked up for the winter every time it started up......splutter, crack, splutter again before finally getting going....all that was missing were plumes of black smoke bellowing out of a rusty old exhaust! To add to the unforgettable experience, the couple in the next room decided to have a blazing row at 3am (not the hotel's fault I know)......perhaps they were arguing over what type of tractor the air con unit in their room sounded like! In summary, we got to sample both the Ballsbridge Inn and the D4 Berkley during our stay. Both were terrible. It is a long way from what the Berkley Court used to be..... Mehr

This hotel is conveniently located near the U.S. Embassy and an assortment of museums on the southside of the city. An aircoach stop is located at the main entrance of the hotel, and a bus stops catering to several routes going to the city center is located right across the street. The reception staff were extremely helpful and happy to provide local […] information. I needed to meet a friend nearby and one of the receptionists looked up the address and printed the walking route for me. I really appreciated this kindness! My room was quite shabby in comparison to the modern and tasteful lobby. The wallpaper was peeling, there were several stains on the mattress (I always check a mattress for bedbugs...), the furnishings were dusty, and the curtains didn't close all the way. That said, the linens were clean and the bathroom was pleasant and a decent size. One hope that renovations to the rooms are forthcoming at this location. Mehr

great location, great staff and nearly great accommodation decor dated and shower pressure non existent was on top floor but had a similar problem in summer on lower floor would not hesitate in staying on another overnight in dublin

The hotel is in a great location. It was fine for what I paid for it. There is a quite a bit of upgrade work going on in the hotel, which is not messy but it does mean the restaurants are not open. I didn't use it but I think the bar might have been serving food. I checked in at 7.30pm and when I enquired about parking, I was told it would be €10.50 […] on departure. Parking in surrounding streets is free between 6.00pm & 8.00am and the barriers for the car park were open when I checked in and checked out the following morning at 8.15am. This was quite confusing and it doesn't surprise me that the car park was empty. The rooms are adequate but are somewhat what dated in appearance. My room had a 19" TV, which was really very small and difficult to watch from a standard distance. I think I would be very disappointed if I'd paid a lot of money to stay here. Mehr

The hotel is in a very good location and the staff were both friendly and helpful. The hotel is a short walk to the Aviva Stadium and and a five minute drive to Grafton Street Area and St. Stephen's Green. The room rate was good value and the hotel was very clean and comfortable. The only quam I had was I felt the cost of using their car park and […] hiring internet access(per device) was expensive. I would recommend the hotel to friends, esp as we were able to request a fridge for our room during our stay. Mehr
