The room wasn't the cleanest and the furniture a little run down. If you are into casinos there is one that is really close by. They even send a shuttle bus to the hotel. I Only chose this hotel because it was advertised as being offered at a discount rate, however once I clicked on it, it went back to it's regular rate?? So I would stay here again […] but only at a discounted rate. It's not worth it's regular rate. Mehr

Everything was wonderful, but the pillows in the room were not very confortable. I was sorry that I did not bring my own pillow.

I have stayed at many different hotels in the midwest. This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Had a guy smoking a funny smelling cigarette across the hall with his door open. The hotel's fix to this problem was to spray air freshener. I did not feel comfortable staying here with my children. I would recommend staying anywhere else in Madison. […] The only word I can use to sum up my stay is HIDEOUS!!!! I would like a refund. Mehr

This hotel is tucked into a back road between I-94/12, so it can be a little hard to find if you don't know where you're going. The hotel itself is exactly what you'd expect for a low-mid range hotel. The furnishings are old but everything is clean and pleasant enough. I will say that when we checked in we were horrified to find that the room absolutely […] reeked of cigarette smoke and whatever cleaner they had tried to use to cover up the odor. The room smelled awful, and we wouldn't have stayed another night at any price. Thankfully the help was able to quickly set us up in a different room that smelled just fine. If we had stayed in that room the whole weekend the whole experience would have been bad, as I said, we wouldn't have stayed if they were the ones paying us. Shame on them for even renting out such a terrible smelling room in the first place. Mehr

Our stay was wonderful. We had a whirlpool suite and it was amazing. Room was very clean and service was great.

It was great that it had a sofa bed that we could use instead of another roll a way!

Stay here with my family for my daughters golden birthday. It was the perfect distance from sight like the zoo, and our friends. I would be happy to stay here again.

We were looking for a place to stay at the last minute and the city of Madison was booked full. There was a dairy expo in town, a tennis match and a football game. Hotels.com found us this gem and what a gem it is! It's just a bit out of the way, you wouldn't find it on your own. We really enjoyed staying here. I got this hotel because others were booked. The place was quiet. Beds were comfortable. Staff was exceptionally pleasant. The "continental breakfast" was a full, delicious breakfast. It was close enough to all our places of interest by being right off the beltline (Hwys 12 & 18). We will defintely stay here again.

Stayed at this hotel for the Ironman. This is a rather old, but clean and quiet hotel so if you need that, it's a good place to stay for the money. Right off of 39/90 and 12 (Beltline), though it can be difficuly to get onto the main roads during rush hours. Breakfast is below average and rather dull-no meat, stale eggs, but they have coffee, juice, […] cereal, bagels, etc. The staff is very nice and accommodating. Mehr

This was a great place to stay. It's quiet, clean, has friendly service, and all for an affordable price. The beds are a little stiff , but I have yet to be at a hotel where that has never happened. Pillows are great though! My favorite part was that they had rooms with mini fridges and microwaves. That way you don't have to eat out all the time. We were very pleased with our stay. We were traveling with grandchildren and the pool was an extra treat for everyone. Having breakfast available on site made it easy to get on our way. We plan to travel through this area in the fall and will be making arrangements to stay at your hotel again. Thanks!

This was a nice hotel to stay at. the workers were friendly, place was clean. Room was clean and nicer than we had expected. We had a king bed that was was comfortable to sleep on.

Really nice stay with very hospitable staff. The breakfeast was really good and had lots of options.

Excellent internet connections (which I put to good use). Shuttle took me where I wanted to go when I needed it, & the front desk was excellent. Downsides: a) breakfast was no better than average (no meat, but there were eggs - the "biscuits & gravy" lovers would be OK) b) No A/C in the elevators c) The restaurant within walking distance is a sports […] bar w/no separate dining room (not apparent until you walk inside) - but if you're OK w/that, you can get discount coupons @ the front desk. Wonderful, helpful staff. Nice pool area. Very clean hotel. Yes, it is off the beaten path a little but easy to get to other places. Breakfast was good. A little variety in the "hot bar" part would be nice. Would recommend this hotel to others in a heart beat!

i have stayed at this hotel several times. the hotel fell short the second time. none of the tioletries were replenished the second day of our stay. The wake up call came a half hour late and as a result i was late for a meeting.

The hotel is in a strange, rural-feeling location next to...nothing. It is clean, the room was enormous and spotless, the pool was well maintained and open 24/7. Not a bad deal compared to other hotels in the area. Breakfast was good with hot eggs, gravy, etc.

Excellent facility and staff

I was very impressed with the quality of the hotel for the price. It is not close to any grocery store or gas station but it is in a very nice location off the freeway enough to be quiet.. The pool is small but nice, hot tub was great.

The location is very convenient and rooms are comfortable. The mini-fridge and microwave were awesome to have as we did not have to eat out as often! One of the beds in our room had a very large dip in the middle which was unfortunate as it was somewhat uncomfortable...We had a change of plans and had to leave 1 day early and even though the required […] cancellation period had passed the staff was willing to work with us and allowed a full refund for the night. On our cross-country trip, after a long day driving, it was so pleasant to come to a place that was clean, easy to find, modern and had a great breakfast buffet. Desk clerk was as sweet as pie.

This is a really nice hotel. It has a pool, which is great. It's near a Harley dealership and a bar, but don't let that worry you. There was a big motorcycle rally when I was there and you couldn't hear a thing. Breakfast is good, but they serve the same thing every day. Rooms are clean, though carpets could use a scrub. My only worry was that the dishwasher […] caught fire while we were there and the alarms went off (which I slept right through) but no one came to evacuate us. They only evacuated the first floor, and just left the rest of us! One of the patrons had to put the fire out and flip the breaker because the staff all panicked! Clean rooms, great breakfast, and friendly staff

A nice hotel on the the south side of Madison. Only negative is that there is not much else around them - except for a casino.

I got an extension on the check-out-time without any extra payment, which was really nice.

I've always found the staff at the Magnuson Grand in Madison, WI, to be very helpful. This was true again during my last stay when there were a few glitches my room -- problems with the TV and wifi. The front desk person set me up in the lounge with TV and wifi access while she worked to correct the problems. She reprogrammed my TV to get my missing […] channels, rebooted the router, and then called the internet service provider about the wifi. For whatever reason, wifi didn't work in my room until the next morning, but she did everything in her power to get me what I needed. Once again the room was comfortable and the breakfast was hearty and good. Several good restaurants are just 5 minutes away. Mehr

Hotel needs some tender touch ups such as cleaning the exhaust fans. Basically a good, clean hotel; good buffet breakfast; staff was wonderful: very, very nice and very, very helpful. T here really was no neighborhood around the hotel; it is right off the Beltline and I90/94, so convenient to Madison (5 minutes).

We had a very nice stay and it was wonderful that you had a shuttle to take people to state street. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

The stay at this hotel was wonderful. The Staff could not have been more helpful, courtious and pleasent to talk with. Beds were comfortable and the hotel is very well built because you could not hear any noise from the halls or the rooms.The breakfast was hot and plenty of food.

I was in Madison, WI for a business trip. I booked my room on hotel.com. The service was great. The front desk clerk was pleasant. The cleaniness of my room was spectacular. I enjoyed my stay. If I was to ever travel to Madison, WI again, I would be sure to book my room with Magnuson Grand Hotel!

This hotel was a great find. I'll be back next year.

The Hotel overall was nice, clean, and appealing to th eye. The comfort of the room was good, exept when I made the reservation I was lead to believe it was a KIng bed w another double bed in room, unfortunately it was a KIng bed w a pull out couch, that was not very comfy as most pull outs are not!! The first thing I noted about our stay was that it was down the street from the dump. Point never to stay there during warmer months. The customer service was okay, but we hadn't used our sink until late in the evening and it was at a trickle. With young children, I wasn't about to wait for someone to fix it during bedtime. So, I simply mentioned it […] during checkout and the manager said "did you tell anyone?"... no, I'm just letting you know for the next person who stays. I also stated that when the couch was pulled out, sheets were dirty. But nothing was taken off of our bill, and no appologies were given. I guess that was all my fault for not telling someone at 9pm during our one night stay. Mehr

This is a very nice hotel with excellent service, especially at the price. We highly recommend it. The late night clerk is especially helpful.
