Clean rooms, great breakfast, and friendly staff

A nice hotel on the the south side of Madison. Only negative is that there is not much else around them - except for a casino.

I got an extension on the check-out-time without any extra payment, which was really nice.

Very clean, nice room, right on the beltline. Nice hot tub and pool. Free Breakfast ROCKS !

I've always found the staff at the Magnuson Grand in Madison, WI, to be very helpful. This was true again during my last stay when there were a few glitches my room -- problems with the TV and wifi. The front desk person set me up in the lounge with TV and wifi access while she worked to correct the problems. She reprogrammed my TV to get my missing […] channels, rebooted the router, and then called the internet service provider about the wifi. For whatever reason, wifi didn't work in my room until the next morning, but she did everything in her power to get me what I needed. Once again the room was comfortable and the breakfast was hearty and good. Several good restaurants are just 5 minutes away. Mehr

Hotel needs some tender touch ups such as cleaning the exhaust fans. Basically a good, clean hotel; good buffet breakfast; staff was wonderful: very, very nice and very, very helpful. T here really was no neighborhood around the hotel; it is right off the Beltline and I90/94, so convenient to Madison (5 minutes).

We had a very nice stay and it was wonderful that you had a shuttle to take people to state street. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

The stay at this hotel was wonderful. The Staff could not have been more helpful, courtious and pleasent to talk with. Beds were comfortable and the hotel is very well built because you could not hear any noise from the halls or the rooms.The breakfast was hot and plenty of food.

I was in Madison, WI for a business trip. I booked my room on hotel.com. The service was great. The front desk clerk was pleasant. The cleaniness of my room was spectacular. I enjoyed my stay. If I was to ever travel to Madison, WI again, I would be sure to book my room with Magnuson Grand Hotel!

The Hotel overall was nice, clean, and appealing to th eye. The comfort of the room was good, exept when I made the reservation I was lead to believe it was a KIng bed w another double bed in room, unfortunately it was a KIng bed w a pull out couch, that was not very comfy as most pull outs are not!! The first thing I noted about our stay was that it was down the street from the dump. Point never to stay there during warmer months. The customer service was okay, but we hadn't used our sink until late in the evening and it was at a trickle. With young children, I wasn't about to wait for someone to fix it during bedtime. So, I simply mentioned it […] during checkout and the manager said "did you tell anyone?"... no, I'm just letting you know for the next person who stays. I also stated that when the couch was pulled out, sheets were dirty. But nothing was taken off of our bill, and no appologies were given. I guess that was all my fault for not telling someone at 9pm during our one night stay. Mehr

This is a very nice hotel with excellent service, especially at the price. We highly recommend it. The late night clerk is especially helpful.

We met some family and spent one night here. We wanted a pool for the kids and a nice breakfast. They did have a pool, but it was very cold. We actually spent some time "swimming" in the hot tub when no one else was using it. But the breakfast was very satisfactory and I appreciated the treadmill in the fitness center. This was just what I needed for my business trip. A comfortable bed with a desk and high speed internet access. The extra bonus was the pool, hot tub, and the workout center.

It was a nice, clean room with very little television channels. The pool and exercise room were 24 hours what was a major plus. There was also a machine oly casino around the bend from the hotel. The customer service was good and the stay for the most part was good.

-it was ok, what you expect for the price. the main thing we stayed for was to use the 24 hour indoor pool and hot tub, the first time we went to the pool a child's birthday party was taking place with alot of people, which isnt that big of a deal until the party children began swearing at my children, i approached one of the adults about this and complained […] to the front desk, i think they were asked to leave the pool area, as about an hour later we went back and had the whole place to ourselves. -that night someone pulled the fire alarm and that blasted for about 5 minutes! -in the morning pool and hot tub were almost empty when we asked they said it was being drained, but the pool is 24 hours and there was no sign saying that it would not be closed so we expected to spend the morning there, but could not. - lesson learned, you get what you pay for. Over all stay was very comfortable. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very satisfactory. Rooms were of a comfortable size and had good amenities. Location is on outskirts of Madison, so travel to UW Madison was not convenient, but we knew this at time of booking.

We enjoyed our whirlpool suite. Comfortable room. One thing to check on though: not enough hot water to fill tub when we tried it it the next morning. Breakfast was tasty, although not enough of the hot items were available for people who arrived about 15 minutes toward the end of breakfast time.

We stayed at the Magnuson in Madison on Christmas Eve on our way to visit family in Minnesota. The hotel impressed us as being very well managed. The hotel was clean and nicely decorated, if a bit worn. We were especially impressed that the buffet breakfast was ready a few minutes before the promised 7 am hour on Christmas day, as we were in a hurry […] to get on the road. It was perfectly adequate for an extended family occupying several rooms for a Thanksgiving gathering in Madison. The room rate was competitive with surrounding lodging. The only irritation occurred with the breakfast. Even though the occupancy count was low, they kept running out of plates and hot food. It is resonablely convenience to Camp Randall

Very affordable and comfortable experience. Staff very responsive, especially hotel Manager in all contacts. I would highly recommend and will stay there again if in Madison.

Stayed there as I was in a pinch....The room was big, breakfast was hot , but I found a dirty sock at the end of my bed and constantly had to use air freshner as the room smelled like wet dog. Because there was a convention going on in Madison, I feel like the price of the room was extremely high considering the above. I stay at alot of hotels during […] the year ( 320 days on average) and I would stay again if the price was much lower. The staff was very friendly and very helpful. One can always find something wrong with a room ( yes I am spoiled) but they made my stay very comfortable and you can't beat that!! Mehr

This hotel was very nice. We stayed there for a wedding recently. It was very convenient to get any where, you are right off of Hwy12/18. The beds were comfortable. The hotel room itself was aged, but not bad. It was clean, and the breakfast was very, very good. Waffles, eggs, corn beef hash, cereal, muffins, juice and coffee. My husband and I stayed two nights and we found the room to be comfortable. The desk staff was polite, but always made the guest wait if they were on the phone with a potential guest. Our complimentary breakfast was good and had decent hot items on our first day, with staff still replentishing items. On our 2nd morning (both were on the weekend) I arrived […] 15 minutes later, and a staff member had cleared most items, turned off all appliances, and appeared surly that I didn't know breakfast was over. He literally took all plates and utensils away on the spot so I could not eat anything he hadn't yet cleared. I should have gone to the desk and complained, but I was too shocked to react as he raced to remove everything. I am a veteran traveler and am always polite and respectful to everyone serving me in any capacity- it's a pity I was not treated in kind. Mehr

This hotel was a wonderful place for a romantic weekend: no children running up and down the hallways, no drunken college students partying in the middle of the night, and luxurious whirlpool suites. The only reason this hotel was not a five in every category was that the microwave blew a fuse, which left our microwave, refrigerator and coffee maker […] out of action until maintenance could fix it the next day. This Hotel was quiet and clean. A bit off the beaten path. The desk staff was able to happily supply extra towels and pillows. Even a pizza at 1am when we got in from a wedding. I would be likely to stay there again.

The employees were very nice and helpful during our stay. It is a little out of town but still close enough to get to places and parking is no problem. The continental breakfast was very good, eggs, hash, waffles, etc. Overall, we had a pleasant stay.

The hotel was off the beaten track, but easy to find and convenient to get to Monona Conference Center. The staff were friendly and welcoming, even going as far as to do direct a weary travel to the nearest grocery store for a late night snack. The room was neat, clean and quiet. The hotel was full and I heard nothing from the rooms around me. Pool […] was open 24/7 and there was a hot breakfast of eggs and corned beef hash (along with the standard waffle and pastries) every morning. Coffee was hot and plentiful. Mehr

We really lucked out with the price and the overall quality of the hotel. There was a pool and an exercise room that looked inviting but we ended up not using. Breakfasts were excellent but always the same offerings and clean dishes ran out for quite some time one day. The golf course and casino were very near and convenient.

The hotel is alright, it is just a little grubby. There was a construction crew staying there when I stayed and there is dust and dirt everywhere. The hotel allows pets, which is why I chose it, but it has a weird smell both in the rooms and out. The location is convenient to get off the highway, but there is nothing around it. I chose it online because […] it looked like it had some green space around it to walk the dog, but I didn't expect it to be so isolated. I probably would not stay here again. Mehr

It was picture perfect. recommed for others

Our stay was great at the Grand Magnuson. Everyone was super-friendly and I liked that the pool & fitness areas were open 24 hours. The only complaint I had was that the breakfast bar was not always well-stocked but after I tracked down one of the staff members, they restocked everything.

This hotel is not in the middle of all the action, yet close enough to everything in Madison to where you're not in a car all day. We had total cooperation with a late check-in. The staff at the desk were very welcoming at the end of our 13 hour drive. Anything that we needed during our stay was accomadated for quickly. The staff was always pleasant. […] The breakfast was your typical continental breakfast deal. The only complaint was the meat choice our first morning... corned beef and hash. Not really much of a fan for that. The hot tub was great for relaxing and the kids enjoyed the pool! Mehr

As this hotel isn't a chain with prior experience, we came to it not knowing exactly what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised and found the room to be very clean and up to date, the mattresses were very comfortable, and in all, it met our needs. We were surprised to see that the breakfast bar was opened before 7, even though we were told that 7-10 […] was the time to expect. We had to leave by 7 and thought we'd miss the continental breakfast but came down around 6:40 and found everything in readiness and others eating already. I assumed the advertisment of a hot breakfast meant the possibility of waffles which was so but pleased to see scrambled eggs and biscuits and gravy as well. All in all, a very nice experience. We needed a place close to home while having work done on our house. Close to I90 and major highway into Madison (12/18). No on-site restaurant, but lots and lots of dining choices within 5 mins driving. Clean. Friendly staff. Small indoor pool and whirlpool, perfect for our 2 daughters. Definitely needed/used the internet access. Would definitely recommend […] this place to others. Mehr
