America's Best Value Inn & Suites Kansas City Downtown - Kansas City

It was ok . It was very close to most places I wanted to go. The beds were not to comfortable. The breakfast ended too early at 0900 am. Other than that, it was nice for the money.

There was only a stand up shower (no tub) and the shower water jumped from hot to cold. The bathroom door did not close all the way. The room was fairly clean but we were disappointed in the overall quality of the hotel. There were no amenities to speak of; even the hand soap in the bathroom was was dispensed through a economy wall pump that resembled […] what you would expect in a bar. Mehr

Before i stayed at this hotel , i checked the reviews & i even stayed in a different one before . I had to wait about 7 min before i was even helped at the desk to check in . when i got my room key i went up to the room and it was not very clean and the beds were all tore apart and up against the wall , not to mention that when i got off the elevator […] it was humid and had a horriable musty smell . i went back to tell the worker and she was rude and suggested to put me on another floor . i just left and went to comfort inn and suits where i should have went in the first place ! i would NEVER recommend this place to another person / Mehr

Not the quitest room that's for sure. No access to fax machines or printers made this business trip more diffulcult. The person at the night desk was not familiarized with the area and was no help to me in suggesting some night life spots either....what really bothered me the most is that when I first arrived I really had to use the bathroom after a […] long road trip in from the airport and there was no available public restroom to use.....I had to wait 15 additional minutes to get to my room. NOT VERY FUN!!! This hotel was convenient to downtown KC THAT'S IT!!! Otherwise quite the dump. Mehr

The good thing about this hotel was that I was able to walk downtown from here and get a full and wonderful view of Kansas City. Other than that, this is not a place I would stay at again. It was borderline creepy in terms of it's condition and the rooms did not inspire confidence. The guy at the front desk could not speak english, he could not even tell me where my room was, he said we were 4 blocks from the plaza and we were 4 miles, no coffee pot in the room, the window was open in the room, the halls smelled like pot, no hot water, I would not pay half of what i did for this room.

The intent of the stay was to go to Westport and the Power and Light District. This hotel was perfect for what we needed. Could it have been updated and a little more well kept? Yes. The hotel staff was kind enough to call us cabs both evenings. It was very inexpensive to get by cab to all of the locations we wanted to see. We also had an odd request […] that the hotel accommodated very well. We had one smoking and one non-smoking room. We wanted to be close to each other. Uncomfortable beds. Little pillows. No pressure in the showers. Windows in the room that could be easily broken into, and looking at the neighborhood, it is a concern. I just needed a place to sleep, so I wasn't too picky.

Nothing special, just a budget hotel. Air con was not able to cool room. Otherwise all just average.

This was by far the worst hotel experience I have had in a long time. On check-in we discovered the electric outlet in the bathroom didn't work. The ground fault outlet was broken. I told to staff members who offered no solution. There was no remote to the TV. These were all things that proved to be minor compared to our night entertainment. Which began […] at 1am fighting and yelling outside the door to our room. More around 2:45 am. Then at 4 came all these screams and rhythmic pounding. This would lead one to believe you were being transported to a third rate porno film. It lasted for what seemed like forever and was followed by more yelling in the hall. Then we slept until 545am to be awaken by round 2 of the porno film and more pounding on the wall and screaming. When we phoned the desk we got no answer. In the morning the lady at the desk told me she new of no problems.I assume if you don't answer the phone then nothing is happening. I would never stay in this location again. It many be close to downtown but it is very close to an unsavory neighborhood as well. I don't think it very safe and I don't believe the management is very helpful. Mehr

The room appeared to be clean and the towels were very soft. But it was hard to overlook how dark and dingy it was. Only two lights worked in the entire room. When I ironed my husband's shirts, the iron left residue on one of my husband's shirts. The hairdrier didn't work in the bathroom but fortunately I always carry my own. The hallway outside our […] room smelled of cigarette smoke so heavy it was hard to breathe. The elevator made us nervous and worried that it would break. The continental breakfast wasn't worth stopping for. All we saw were a cozen stale rolls and some coffee. We didn't even try it. People were milling around the parking lot late at night when we returned from an evening event which made us feel very uncomfortable and unsafe. The pool wasn't big enough for more than 6 people at a time if anyone ever got in it. No one did while we were there. All in all, it was over priced for the experience. We were very disappointed and felt the website showing the hotel and rooms distorted the actual appearance. I've stayed in some run down places before and I would rank this one right in there. I will consider my options more carefully next time I'm in KC. I will never stay there again. We were just glad to leave. Mehr

Nasty hotel...in what appears to be a high-police area. Horrid stench in my room, very uncomfortable bed, and there was an open condom wrapper on the floor. Yuck.

This was the only hotel with an opening for the night I was in town. When I showed up to the hotel I had to double-check my reservation because I thought I was at the wrong place. My room had mold around the shower and the walls were covered in scratches and dents. I kept my shoes on the whole time because the carpet looked dirty. great hotel for price, good neighborhood,lots of attractions,stores,resteraunts close--just don't get a room right in front of the elevator, the bell is very loud and can wake you

Not too bad a hotel, it was quiet and clean, only problem was on checkout I had to sign a credit card slip (think that was what it was) not sure, but I tried explaining that I had paid through Hotels .com he said yes but I had to sign the slip, will have to wait and see if I get another bill!! will not be happy if I do.

Had the 3rd floor corner room near the street. Even those talking outside on street sounded amplified. Traffic noise was very bad. The slatted shades did very little to keep light out, with one missing slat making it worse. No pull down share or curtin. Room was well lighted all night from outside lighting. The contintinal breakfast was minimal in selection. […] I will not stay there again. Very difficult to sleep. Mehr

On the hotels.com site the check out time was stated to be 12:00... it was actually 11:00 and I was charged for being an hour late checking out. I suggest this error be fixed right away.

I don't think I would recommend this motel to anyone and I don't think I would want to stay there again. I'm not usually a negative person, but I would like someone to know so it would be better for another person. I was uncomfortable from the beginning. Usually the check in people are friendly and servant oriented. But this man didn't seem happy to […] have my business. He was not rude or unappropriate. I tried to be friendly, but he didn't really say much. When we took our things to the room, the cleaning lady was in the hall attending to the room across from us. She said nothing and just stared at us without smiling. I felt uneasy. It was rather creepy. We left and came back around 8:00 or 8:30. Our room was pretty cool so we checked the air conditioner/heater. There were no knobs on it so we couldn't warm up the room. We slept in our clothes and our pajamas to keep warm enough to sleep. In the middle of the night we were awakened 2 times from people laughing and talking loud. Our room was across from the stairway. We gathered our things the next morning and went to the breakfast. It was fine, but there were no forks or spoons to eat with. I had to ask if there were any because I had a biscuit and gravy. I was afraid to complain because I felt he would add to my bill if I did. So we said nothing. I thanked him for the stay, but I was happy to be done. We were pretty uncomfortable. Mehr

It is in crown center district, very safe area. There are some places you could visit. Downtown area is a little bit far, but it is still accessible. From the outside of the inn, it looks ok, but it is good in the room, especially the bathroom. Staff is just alright as long as you don't talk to them too much.
