I stayed for two nights. It is located in quite a run-down part of wellington, and there were young people sitting on the street drinking and shouting at cars opposite the hotel when I arrived. all the shops have iron doors they pull down at night, never a good sign. Check-in was difficult, I had to bring all my suitcases upstairs to the desk myself. […] there was no-one to assist you. when I checked in, my room smelt of paint, the bed had no linen and the carpet outside my door was badly stained and worn. the blinds in my room were stained with a nasty brown stain, and when I opened the window to get rid of the paint smell, i discovered it was broken and didnt shut. by the time they came to fix it my room was freezing, so had to have the heaters on. at least they were working. I got a 10% discount on a restaurant meal to apologise for the trouble. saved me a whole $3. the second day my card kept malfunctioning, and i was locked out 3 times, with the card being reprogrammed each time by the manager. after the third time he said he would bring a new card but it never turned up. I gave up at this point, and checked out. Mehr

I found the Hotel suited an overnight stay for business. The rooms were basic, clean and tidy and catered for my needs. Close enough to town to walk in and get a good bit to eat. I would stay again.

stayed here for one night and have to say I wouldn't recommend it. The room was on the corner and very noisy (mainly due to the wind and the a/c fans several floors below). Breakfast not very good either. Also, had to fight with the Wellingto one-way system to find it en route.

Do yourself a favour and stay somewhere else for the same amount of money. It is quite far from the city centre (walkable distance though), it was dirty and old, and definetly not the same standard as the Mercure we stayed at in Queenstown (very far from the same standard, although both 3,5 stars). A serious problem with cleaning seems to be their biggest […] issue. And a gym from he 60's. And SUPER SCARY ELEVATORS. Take the stairs. Mehr

We (2adults + 1child) picked up an off-season special, so the room was cheap. It was basic, but still good value. However, on arrival (late at night, as advised) there was only one bed in the room, so a roll-out had to be found while we waited, jet-lagged and desperate for sleep (especially the child!). By the third night, the promised 3rd towel, […] glass, etc had still not arrived - perhaps because the daily servicing had not occurred! At the front desk they were happy for me to pick them up myself. If you are just looking for a simple place to crash, this place will be fine. If you want a little more, you may have to pay a little more. Mehr

Has reasonable facilities, but hotel and especially rooms are getting very tired and clearly need refurbishment. Musty smell as not ventilation in bathroom. Not really a standard you expect from the Mercure brand! Cheap though.

The carpet was stained. Room needs updating. Hotel staff were extremely busy. We got stuck in the elevator. The food was not that good. People were smoking at the front door as the customers were entering. I will never recommend this place.

i am very happy with the hotel and i really likes the fact that the pool was 24 hrs so i could have swim any time i wanted. very good idea.

Hotel not in a particularly nice area. Outside quite shabby and elevator and hallways very run down although main lobby and rooms were clean and well kept. Overall a nice enough stay but would probably try a different hotel if I was to visit Wellington again.

All in all was a very confortable stay, the staff were very friendly and helpful and the hotel was very tidy and good looking from the inside, however the outside of the hotel didn't look as good. Sadly the room we stayed in was rather small with no kitchen appliances. The location of the hotel wasn't too bad being close to cuba street however the area […] that it was in at the top of willis isn't the nicest area. But this small things were nothing we worried about due to the price we paid to stay which was nice and cheap. Mehr

The hotel was staffed by very nice and helpful people. It is slightly out of the tourist district but we found it quite quiet and the views from the windows were lovely. The hotel says it has a pool but it is run independently and thus not available when classes are scheduled. The breakfast buffet was very nice.

Good location and off the busy din of the city.

Great location with parking. Friendly and helpful staff.

Awesome price..close to the city and having a health centre underneath just topped it right off. Will definetly stay here again.

The room was cosy, not much view though. Polite staff at the desk. The stand out feature, however, was the lifts. The lifts featured creaking, groaning and a sudden lurch upon arriving at your floor, not exactly reassuring. It was a bit of a walk from town although there was parking available on site.

Not fancy but clean,central,free parking,pleasant staff,tasty food,gym,pool,internet.What more can you ask for the price?

There were 20 rooms on each of the six floors but only one small lift. My room wasn't serviced until quite late each afternoon. I thought the $20 basic breakfast was grossly over priced. There was a fee for delivery if you used Room Service. Staff were friendly.

The pool and gym in the basement are a definite draw cards. The room wasn't luxurious, but bright, clean and warm. The down side for us was the distance from central city and the difficulty of finding the right bus home.

The room was clean and modern. But very small. For the price it was worth it. The walk to the city is a bit longer than you think. We were woken up a number of times with people walking past shouting and screaming in a drunk state. But at the end of the day for one or two nights it is fine cheap and clean.

Cold, not very clean and very basic!!

good value for the money. Rooms very basic but clean and tidy. Handy location and very quiet.

l'hotel ci è piaciuto, è pulito ed in una buona posizione. Il personale è molto cordiale e disponibile.
