The hotel was comfortable and had all the ammenites we were looking for. Very close to all the attractions in the national mall. We did arrive earlier than the normal 3pm check in and they were quick to accommodate. There was some confusion as to the room we were given and then going into it and it not being clean but we were upgraded and given a bigger […] room. Super nice staff and good breakfast. Mehr

Loved the fact that these were suites with plenty of room for all family members and a mini kitchen to heat up snacks and make coffee. Liked having a separate room for students who had to work. Great location - one block from Metro. Loved bath amenities and having a bath robe (two of them!). Loved having two DVD players - one in each room. Only downside […] - no room safe and no room service. No pool, so thus no noisy kids screaming up and down halls! Mehr

This hotel is a short walk from the Capitol South Metro station, the Library of Congress, the Capitol, and the National Mall. It's location is excellent, there's not doubt about that. Breakfast is donuts, bagels, & cereal, but if that doesn't satisfy you, there are several breakfast places just around the corner and a few local (non-chain) restaurants […] as well. All with good food. We found the hotel breakfast insufficient so ate around the corner. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful at all times. As a matter of fact, there is very little to complain about regarding this hotel except that it is old and the age shows in a number of ways - an elevator that makes scraping noises at it traverses floors, for example, and a bathtub which takes *forever* to drain. The amenities in the room are nice: frig, microwave, and even dishes (!!). For our week-long stay, we found this quite useful. Our room was a "Junior Suite" - i.e. a single queen bed in a corner. Don't expect views as the rooms all appear to face away from the Capitol, but that's not a big deal as you'll spend most of your time out of the room anyway. The bed was old with "body divots" in it. This was partially hidden by a feather duvet placed under the fitted sheet which we removed because sleeping *on* feathers is not very comfortable. The room comes with 4 feather pillows and one non-feather pillow so if feathers are a problem, ask for substitutes at the desk. The free Wi-Fi was nice and it was a simple task to hook my computer up to the flat-screen TV so we could stream our own video as desired. In summary: excellent location, friendly/competent staff, in a wonderful location. Would prefer a better bed and if I stayed here again, would probably bring my own pillow. Otherwise, I recommend it. The staff was very friendly and the hotel room itself was very nice. It was very large with lots of room to relax. The surrounding area was nice but there were no close restaurants or nightlife. I would probably stay a little closer to the action next time. The metro station was 2 blocks away which helped some.

The Capitol Hill Suites has the best location in Washington if you are visting the capitol, supreme court, and parts of the national mall. The biggest downside of the suites is that they were clearly repurposed from former apartments. While the suites are reasonably large for hotel rooms, the floorplan, layout, and decor aren't particularly elegant, […] but closer to what you might see at a low-cost chain. While they were repainting while I was there, nothing less than a complete teardown will be likley to change this. That said, the Hotel does basically function. The shower has hot water, the bed is comfortable, rooms are clean, and the staff is helpful. TV choices were limited, but in the Netflix era, who cares? The suites cooking capabilities are limited to a microwave and there is no on-premise food service other than the continental breakfast. However, there are decent places to eat nearby. Additionally, it is slightly more affordable than some of the other hotels in the area. Mehr

Capitol Hill Suites has a perfect location in the South East corner of National Mall approx 500m from Capitol Hill. The big suites are spacious with seperat livingroom with sofabed and kitchenette, but no pots and pans. Neighborhood is very nice and seems safe

The service was excellent. Good breakfast. Location could not have been better!! One block from Capital South metro station and so close to the Mall yet on such a quiet street! I will be back.

CHS was in a great location for my business meetings on the Hill. The rooms were very nice and newly renovated. My only complaints were that the rooms could be better soundproofed and that the beds weren't as comfortable as most hotels on par with CHS. I was at the end of a hallway and expected little to no noise, but I distinctly could hear the alarm […] in the room next to me going off all morning. The bed and pillows were not comfortable to me, but I know this can often be a personal preference in terms of mattress firmness. Mehr

The staff was very attentive and helpful. Suite was clean, and included free wifi. They also had an available computer with printer in front lobby, and during our stay hotel was replacing lobby furniture and decor.

We stayed here for 4 nights with our two children. It was the only hotel I could find that had a one bedroom suite. The room was small, but sufficient. Some of the lights in the room didn't work, and the hotel hallways/elevators were being worked on, so seemed like the hotel was recently opened. However, the location was terrific, and the continental […] breakfast was very big. (Although you have to go to a different building to eat, they had tons of choices). I'd stay there again. Mehr

BEST HOTEL if you want to be walking distance to Capital , Supreme Court, etc... lost of great restaurants, bars, etc. Beautiful area. Suite was very comfortable, very clean. WE WILL BE BACK !!

The comfortable, attractive Capitol Hill Suites is a few blocks from the Capitol, yet in a quiet residential neighborhood. Other convenient features: a variety of restaurants nearby and Metro station nearby. Continental breakfast is packaged to be eaten in the hotel room. Our stay was very comfortable and convenient to the trolley pick-up and AMTRAk station. Everyone was helpful and friendly. I would recommend it to all my family and friends.

The best part was the hotel staff. It is a family owned and operated hotel. They were so friendly and helpful! Breakfasts were good and served until 10 AM so you could sleep in and not have to rush. The location was perfect for capitol hill SE and surroundings. The only drawback was construction which was not disclosed. Nevertheless, this is a GREAT […] hotel! Mehr

Great spot if you're working Capitol Hill and the legislative office buildings. Very spacious and clean. Internet was troublesome in Bldg. #2 where I stayed; they had just upgraded it and were working on making it fast. Great place for extended stays. It's on the edge of residential neighborhoods, very quiet area. Access to restaurants is a little […] spotty. The best and most pricey ones are near the Union Station area, northwest of the Capitol. The staff was excellent! And the property was well kept of. The rooms were very comfortable. The bathroom was a bit small. They also have free continental breakfast. Some additional yummy variety would have been better and the layout should have been a bit more spread out to avoid so much overcrowding. Love this hotel and will definitely return. Large room, very comfortable mattress and bedding. Only other comment is that room temp was hard to manage - very dry heat with no ventilation. And bathroom was very small - not 2 person size. But love the boutique hotel feel to it and location was awesome.

The hotel was clean and close to transportation, which made getting anywhere on the Hill convenient. The staff was friendly and courteous, if not a bit unprofessional (loud conversations in the lobby gathered around the front desk, personal phone calls in the lobby, etc.) Overall a good hotel, but there were a few downsides. They are doing construction […] inside the building right now and the work started promptly at 8am so if you are looking to sleep in you are better of staying somewhere else for the next few months. I stayed in The Capitol Hills Suites for a week in a tourism trip to Washington. The hotel has an excellent location a few blocks from the Capitol Hill, and a Metro Station one block from the hotel lobby. The breakfast exceed my expectations and the overall service was OK. I recommned it.

Capital Hill Suites was a great hotel for a memorable stay. It is conviently located about two blocks away from the capital. This made it easy to walk to most of our desired locations. It is also only about two blocks away from the Metra. So, when we wanted to go to a destination that was a further walk we could simply walk to the Metra and be at our […] destination in a number of minutes. However, if you have a car its more of a nuisance. The rate for parking your car at the hotel is $32 a day. Although this is quite expensive there are not many other choices as to where to park your car since its almost impossible to street park it anywhere in the washington dc area. They also serve breakfast every morning. This consists of mainly bagels, toasts, and dry ceral. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. They do a great job keeping the room clean and comfortable. There's honestly nothing bad about this hotel. I highly recommend it. Mehr

If you are a tourist to DC this hotel is for you. Located in the heart of all toursity things...we like to walk and you can walk most of the places from this hotel. Highly recommended.

Our stay at the Capitol Suites was very enjoyable. The staff was very nice. The Continental breakfast was small but appropriate. The Room was clean and comfortable. The kitchen was smaller than anticipated but functional. It is very close to the Capitol but about a 25 minute leisurely walk from the Smithsonians. Stayed for New Years Eve. Hotel is in very nice condition. Rooms were larger than expected. We had a room with two queen size beds which had a separate area with a small table and chairs located near a full size fridge, large sink and even oven top with burners. Location is great, within walking distance to bars and landmarks. A free continental breakfast […] was even included. Only reason Im not giving the hotel a 5 is because of the parking. Given its DC, on street parking is pretty much your only option. Plan on circling the block numerous times, especially if its a holiday weekend because of DC's lame parking laws on the streets during the week and or weekend. Hidden gem in the capitol hill area. Easy access to metro (about 2 blocks), decent continental breakfast. Parking is tough though, regardless of their website saying they had a lot, as it was full when I got there to check in. Luckily I found street parking and it was after hours for the meters.

This was a great hotel. The staff was very tourist informative and helpful. They even lent us an umbrella !

The hotel was close to many places to eat in the area and was a perfect location to get to the concert we wanted to get to in the nearby area. The price was also comparable to many others in the area, and I felt like I was getting a pretty good deal. Overall, I say that this was a great hotel stay! I'd definitely recommend to others!!

complimentary breakfast was great, our room was great and the staff so helpful. It was a bonus having a laundry in the hotel. We loved it!

The hotel was nice and staff extremely helpful in all respects. Our room was comfortable and clean. Only the noise and nearness of the cooling fan made sleeping a minor problem both nights. The hotel room was perfect and the breakfast served was outstanding. I only have one suggestion. The carpet in the lobby was terrible--totally worn. It presents a bad impression when you register and made me wary of what to expect in the room. Fortunately, the rest of the hotel did not mirror the lobby.

The price was reasonable for being so close to Capitol Hill. The ONLY negative I have is that the electrical outlets in the room had issues and there was only one that would power a hair dryer and it was not by a mirror. Bed was super comfortable and absolutely no evidence of bed bugs. The bathroom setup was especially nice for putting on my makeup […] with the drawback being that the hair dryer wouldn't work in that room. This hotel could use some freshening. However, the staff was wonderful and the location was really convenient. We liked the surrounding neighborhood. Overall, it was a pleasant place to stay.

This is an excellent "comfortable" hotel - this is not a full service hotel - there is no restaurant or fancy doorman. To my mind it is a business men's hotel of yesteryear - all the needs but no major extravagances. It is a good value and the kitchen keeps your costs down during a few day stay.
