"Overall"
We stayed there for 5 nights. Overall the hotel is at a good location and the lobby is clean and new, but the rooms seem to be older. I stayed at many Italian hotels and they all seem to be not the best. But if you are in Rome, you should not spend any time in the hotel.

"Great location!"
The Ciccerone is in a great location near many sights in Rome. The staff were very helpful. The included continental breakfast was cheap... One small roll and one drink....either coffee or juice. Internet was 9 euro per day! It should have been free. The lobby was lovely. Our room was clean, but well used....needed a remodel.Authentische Expedia-Gästebewertung

"Great location...needs renovation"
We stayed at this hotel in 2004, it was perfect. Location is awesome, walk to many of the typical and not so typical spots. This year, we were put in a room that may not have been renovated since opening??? Very old and run down. Lobby is perfect, bar is great, but the room we had was aweful.....additional comment, we requested a one bed room, we arrived […] and one was not available, but they said it would be in about an hour or so. We went to lunch, came back and got our room, well it had 3 twin beds, 2 pushed together, but still with individual twin sheets on each. MehrAuthentische Hotels.com-Gästebewertung
"Loved it, loved it, loved it."
Loved this hotel and it's location - close to the Vatican and St.Peter's Square. Have stayed here before and would definitely return. Enjoyed the neighborhood and walking around felt comfortable and safe. Hotel staff was superb - particularly the ladies at the concierge desk. They were extremely helpful and responsive to all our needs. Rooms are comfortable […] and certainly worth the price in comparison to other hotels in Rome. MehrAuthentische Expedia-Gästebewertung
"Poor poor poor"
More like a British 3 star, too expensive for what you get. Breakfast v. Poor with poor choice and 3 rd rate products. No wifi except swissport at 9 euro a day. Full of bus tour retired folk from arkansas, loud brash and frankly boorish. Look elsewhere for a better deal.Authentische Expedia-Gästebewertung

"Honeymoon"
We booked a 'superior' room. It wasn't as spacious as the photographs suggested but we were still comfortable. You certainly couldn't sit at the desk. The air conditioning was superb - effective and quiet. As a superior room we got a kettle but only tea bags - no coffee. Room service closes early evening and you aren't allowed to take cups to the room […] from the bar so, in the end, we had to buy instant coffee from the supermarket But, that wrinkle aside, everything was great - breakfast until 10.30, which had a good choice and tasted great. As it was very hot in the week we stayed we had to use the hotel laundry service which was real quick. The hotel is right next to a number of bus routes so everything is in reach. Although out of the 'centro storico' you can get everywhere and there are plenty of restaurants in the vicinity. St Peters is not far off and the Castel Sant'Angelo is a couple of blocks away. "A Great Hotel in Rome"
The Cicerone Hotel is a great hotel within walking distance of some of the major attractions in Rome, such as the Vatican, Piazza del Popolo, Trevi Fountain, and the Spanish Steps. The hotel staff was knowledgeable, helpful, polite, and always available to answer questions. The rooms were spacious and very clean. The complimentary breakfast buffet was […] a nice added touch and a good way to start the day. I would highly recommend this hotel to others. MehrAuthentische Hotels.com-Gästebewertung

"Definitely not a 4 star hotel"
The room was too cold and the hotel refused to turn on the heat in the AC unit. Check in took forever and there wasn't a very long line. You had to check in with one person and then move to another area to receive your room key. There were many people behind the counter but it appears that only one person at a time is allowed to work with guests.Authentische Hotels.com-Gästebewertung

"Decent, but not a 4-star facility"
While fairly clean and with a cordial staff, the Cicerone is aged and in need of renovation. The rooms are dated and worn. The neighbourhood is nice, with restaurants and grocery store nearby. The hotel is a favorite of cruise passengers (Carnival, etc.), so tends to be quite busy and loud. The buffet breakfast was excellent! While not my first choice […] when I return to Rome, it is a decent option, but not what I normally expect for a hotel with a 4-star rating. MehrAuthentische Hotels.com-Gästebewertung
"Rome at Half the Price"
Cicerone Hotel was a surprise! After looking at many of the possible bookings, I became discouraged that we could not afford to stay in Rome. Expedia had an offer to try this hotel, and I hoped the reviews would be trustworthy. This hotel is beautiful ! It is full of charm, warmth, and old world beauty. It was if everyone had known us for years, their […] recommendation on a tour was excellent. Security personal in the hallways was reassurring. The breakfast buffet was beyond reproach, and the service was sincere and dedicated. We were within walking distance of the Vatican and many shops. "Hotel Cicerone"
The hotel was clean and friendly and it was refreshing to find one that did not try to sell tacky souvenirs - or even quality ones. It is a hotel, and it only does hotel things! The restaurant looked good, but we didn't use it as we only stayed 3 nights. The menu only offered a limited choice. Apparently they concentrate on Roman cuisine. It seemed […] reasonably priced and we would have tried it if we'd had more time. There were a couple of good restaurants nearby that were reasonably priced, too, as well as an ice-cream cafe - very busy! Breakfast was another matter. The food was good and you could have all you wanted. We always ate at about 6:45, and we just got a table. As we left we had to pass a line of other guests waiting for a table, stretching all the way down the stairs. Oddly, nobody thought of opening up the restaurant to take up this overflow, but who am I to comment? Not what you'd expect from a hotel with these petensions, however. A taxi to the Vatican cost €10 (including tip), but you can walk there in 15 minutes - get a map from reception, plan a route & have a pleasant stroll. I don't know how much a taxi costs to the centre of the City - it seemed twice as far away - but once we discovered the Metro, where you can go anywhere for €1, there was no point in wasting the money. Final tip: go to St Peter's as early as possible on a Sunday morning. It heaves with people on other days so you will see much more if you go before the crowd gets there. "Good Location, Tiny Room, Poor Breakfast"
The hotel is generally okay. The staffs are friendly and patient when you ask questions. The location is superb, just besides a bus station and is about 10minutes walk to the nearest metro station which is just 1 stop away from Vatican and 5 stops from Termini. However, the room is just tooooooooooooooooooooo small, less than 10m2 I suppose. There […] is nothing except a tiny little TV and a fridge. No kettle, no coffee maker, etc. The breakfast is not very rich, don't really think it qualifies as a 4-star hotel. MehrAuthentische Expedia-Gästebewertung
"Definately suitable for the disabled traveller."
My wife and I traveled to Rome for the first time and were a little apprehensive as I am in a wheelchair. I called the hotel in advance making sure I had a suitable room and spoke to Guliana who said everything would be arranged. And sure enough on arriving at the hotel around 10:00am on the 15th of February we were told at reception our room was ready. […] The room was very spacious and the bathroom was adequate. The reception desk gave us a map of Rome along with a few tips for walking and bus if needed. We were out of the door and off to the Vatican City about a 20 minute walk. The hotel is in a great location with easy access to all the Historical sites. We stayed for three days and would definitely not hesitate to staying again in this hotel. One small comment would be the size of the lifts, only just big enough for the wheelchair. MehrAuthentische Expedia-Gästebewertung
"I give it 3 not a 4"
The appearance on the exterior is quite blah and the room was pretty outdated, carpeting was stained and worn, we had two twin beds joined together but ok. No iron so press your clothes before departing. Television set was outdated as well, the only station we were able to watch was CNN or BBC. Breakfast was ok also, eggs were cold and runny, sausages […] were stale, but cerel was provided and bread. Coffee and hot chocolate were great. Gym is a small room with 4 machines, so don't expect a spa. Staff were welcoming but always busy. Taxi from hotel to airport was 50 euros which is not bad compared from airport to hotel varied from 55-60. Hotel was located in a safe area for the police station was near by, metro was a few blocks away and cafe (Portifino) great place for coffee, muffins etc..there was also a supermarket next to Portifino, so you can stop there for water and other items you would like to keep in your room. Vatican is 1-2 miles but we were able to walk everywhere for sightseeing was extremely pleaseant. Internet for laptop was 10 euros for 24 hours. March was a great time to travel for the weather was perfect and not as crowded as the summer months. Early morning and evening a jacket or sweater was required, but afternoon it was great weather. We will definitely go back but try out another hotel near the Capitol. MehrAuthentische Expedia-Gästebewertung
"Average"
The hotel felt more suited for business travelers and larger groups. It was a very large hotel and similar to traditional chain hotels. The rooms were not very comfortable. The beds were hard (but that seems to be in all hotels we stayed in Europe). We were there in March and they did not have A/C activated. It was fairly warm in the room and it never […] cooled down even with the windows opened. The biggest complaint is that they did not have a free WiFi! 9 euros for 24 hours! "Hote Ciccerone in February"
Very professional and helpful staff, especially Eva on the concierge desk, in reception. Hardworking chambermaidmaid. Attentiveness and friendliness very patchy in the Eden Room at breakfast. Rooms a bit draughty by windows-walls there appeared very thin and not that safe to lean against on fifth floor. TV Internet/movie bundle was for 24hrs from start […] time, not 24 used time as in most hotels, which was not made at all clear on any of the literature. MehrAuthentische Expedia-Gästebewertung

Good service, nice staff, nice facilities. The only issue I had was the way they found extra things to charge you for. When we left we were charged 30 euros for a visitor's tax, which we weren't told about before hand. Also, they don't offer free internet. They charge you 18 euros for 24 hours of coverage. To me, that should be included in the free […] services provided by the hotel, given how much they charge for you to stay. MehrAuthentische Hotels.com-Gästebewertung
"Hotel Cicerone perfect location for tourists."
The Cicerone has the perfect location for tourists, at an affordable price. It is close to major attractions like the Vatican, Saint Angelo's Castle, Piazza Navona and is just a 5 min walk to the Metro station. The staff is fully bilingual, extremely helpful and more than willing to show you how to get around town. They must be used to tourist because […] on the front desk there is a stack of maps available with all major attractions and metro routes as well as bus lines. The breakfast is abundant with plenty of fruit and a cappuccino to die for. Make sure you ask for it because they make it specially for you. If you decide to have breakfast or lunch outside the hotel make sure to check out Bar Tabacchi for an affordable lunch and again a great cappuccino, also great friendly service with superb prices. Lunch for 2 was under 7 euros. For dinner Grotta Azzure and all within walking distance of the Hotel. Highly recommend the Cicerone, its safe and upscale location, its friendly bilingual staff, and its affordable price makes it a winner among Roman hotels. MehrAuthentische Expedia-Gästebewertung

"My Favorite stay in Rome"
Out of 10 different hotel I've stayed at in Rome this is my favorite. Mind you the room are not plush and over the top. They are very simple with no frills, bells or whistles. Internet is 22 euro per day and is a very fast connection. The room we had was for disabled guests which looks it could accommodate a guest in a wheel chair. What I liked about […] it is that is was between 20-30 minute to most major sites. It is located in what seems to be a residential area so not much noise and very laid back Breakfast room is large but I prefer to go the coffee bar across the street and enjoy a nice Italian breakfast for under 2 euro. I would return just because I like these type of neighborhood hotels. The service was great all the way around! There is major avenue down the street with a good selection of shops, and restaurants. We booked the Cicerone Hotel specifically because friends of ours were staying there also. When we arrived, we were told there was a booking problem, and we would stay in the Ritx Hotel.
