Hilton Santa Fe Historic Plaza - Santa Fé

Front desk staff were great. Room was comfy, fireplace in lobby was cozy on cold days. Renovating was going on so it was noisy. Internet in the room was the worst. They charge over $10 per day for ethernet that worked so poorly it took over 2 hours to check e-mail.

Hotel currently (January 2012) undergoing renovation, so some rooms have poorly functioning heating/ac units, but employees were very helpful in resolving problem.

The internet service sporadic in our room. After a visit from the hotel tech and calls to their support, the internet still did not work in the room. Had to go to the lobby to use it.

The hotel was undergoing renovations while we were there so no sleeping late with all the noise. It does have a good restaurant on site and is within waling distance of the plaza and surrounding shops and galleries, which was a plus to us.

Hilton's reputation is why we choose this vacation spot. The hotel needs serious up-dating. The management didn't care that our room was noisy, heater didn't work correctly at all, or try to make it better by at least acting like they cared that our toilet was not flushing properly. We left a day early because it was just too uncomfortable.

This is an excellent hotel, located very well if you are interested in Downtown Santa Fe and Canyon Road by foot. We walked to both places of interest with no problem. Most of Santa Fe's highly rated restaurants are within a block or so of the hotel's front door. If you want cheaper fare you'll need to go outside of the immediate area. My only issue […] with the hotel was the $15/night fee to park the rental. We trumped the fee by parking at the meters right across the street. They are two hour meters active from 8a-6pm. This was our second time staying at this hotel because it is conveniently located to the Plaza. There is nothing elaborate about the room and they are beginning to look a little dated. We noticed some construction taking place so maybe they are performing some upgrades. Upon arrival in our room, we noticed a strong odor coming from the furnace. The […] smell did not dissipate so we decided not to risk it and asked to be moved to another room which was done with no questions asked. However, there was no offer to upgrade or any sort of acknowledgement for the inconvenience. There was no follow-up call from management to ensure the new room was satisfactory. Upon checkout, I remembered I had a Hilton membership card and was told that parking would be half price. Just a reminder to others. Overall, not too bad if you can get a good price. Mehr

the Hilton in Santa Fe is right where you want it to be. It's only foot steps to the Plaza and fine restaurants. The beds were comfortable and clean and it was quiet. The price was good and so was the value. My only complaint was the rugs in the room needed a good cleaning. I will return again. It happens to be near my favorite piano bar, Vanessie.

This Hilton reminded me of Motel 6,the room was very low standard and the price was very high for the condition.

Sadly the only thing 5 star about this hotel is its location. Guest comfort is not what you would expect from a property bearing the Hilton name. No assistance with my luggage was offered on check-in. I was 3 weeks post carpal tunnel surgery and unable to carry any weight on my rehabbing hand and ended up making multiple trips to get a small amount […] of luggage to my room. There was no mini-bar or fridge in the guest room and no drink machines on the floors. The option was to go to the lobby and pick from a poor selection in a little shop that is unattended and pay (mini-bar prices) at the front desk. In my room, the TV was not working when I arrived - a 30 minute wait for a hotel staffer. The drawers in the chest of drawers stuck together and were off their rails. The promised channel guide was not in the room and the front desk said none was available (they should have been able to print this on the spot from the computer). The satellite TV consisted of less than 50 channels, many of which were analog and digital duplicates of the same programming. No in-room movie rentals were available. Internet access required a cable for in-room use. I had not brought one having read that wi-fi was available. On my second day, I looked for a phone book to locate a store where I could purchase a cable and discovered a cable in the back of a drawer. Neither the guest services booklet nor the front desk informed me of this. Meanwhile no phone book was in the room, when I inquired about one at the front desk I was met with a blank stare, and I eventually purchased one at an office supply store. Parking was another big issue. The hotel will charge $15/day for parking above whatever rate is available from hotels.com. During my stay a 'car club' had booked a stay at the hotel and about half of the parking lot was cordoned off for their use. Unfortunately the number of spaces saved and the number of parking permits sold to other guests exceeded the number of spaces in the lot. This left Mehr

Excellent accommodations and friendly service. I recommend to anyone wanting to be in walking distance to central Santa Fe.

For the money, you would expect higher standards than this hotel offers. I have stayed an MANY lower priced hotels that were much nicer and cleaner. The shower curtain on the inside at top had what looked to be human feces on it-- told front desk person the next morning and she goes"oh, okay"--WHAT?? I don't expect that at a Hilton!! The room was old, […] it was not obviously very clean, the heater or air cond. was very loud-- floor unit with fan, so it roared all night. The beds were okay, but worried about cleanliness after seeing the shower curtain-yuck!! I paid alot of this hotel to stay at a 5 star hotel-- which it was most certainly not-- and the front desk should have said more than they did I think-- stay at your own risk, but the only good thing was the convenience of where it is located. The hotel is centrally located. It's close to Santa Fe's historical plaza along with a plethora of restaurants, stores and museums. We found the hotel staff to be polite and efficient during check-in and that enabled us to get on to more important things like visiting the plaza area.

Great location, worst pillows....you would have to bring your own or don;t stay there. Wonderful staff but can"t make up for a good nights sleep !

Unfortunately for my sister and myself, we had stayed across the street at the El Dorado Hotel on a previous visit to Santa Fe. Our room at the Hilton looked out at the entrance of the El Dorado and we were reminded throughout our visit of the spot on service offered there. Loved Santa Fe & this hotel was within walking distance of everything. Great nearby restaurants, shopping & nightlife. Will stay here on any revisit.

We entered through beautiful rustic doors to a very inviting lobby where we were greeted by hotel staff. They were kind enough to check us in early, however did not have any rooms with 2 queens, so we settled for 2 doubles. The room was in need of updating, but overall our experience was quite nice. The room looked NOTHING like the pictures posted on Hotels.com. The room online looked modern and bright. My room, although roomy and clean, was dated and dark. The hotel is in a great location, walking distance to the square, the railroad district and canyon road. But for the same money there are much better options available.

While we stayed at the hotel there was some type of conference going on which took over the hotel and blocked off the restaurant and lobby the entire time. In addition, they were repaving and repairing the parking lot and hotel entry which made it very difficult to get in and out. Rooms were shabby and only moderately clean. Just on the positive side of adequate. Building is not too solidly constructed so corridors were noisy. Breakfast buffet overpriced and underwhelming. On the plus side the concierge was outstanding. I've rarely had anyone so helpful and patient, and the location in the heart of Santa Fe is excellent. A reasonable […] choice at a discount. Have stayed here before and found the room condition looking a bit worn. Carpet needed cleaning and the five days we were there housekeeping didn't vacuum our room once. The beds were great and the location is excellent, but the hotel needs an interior remodel. We had read several negative comments about this hotel so I was a little apprehensive. However, our stay was wonderful. The location cannot be beat for walking to many galleries, museums,restaurants and night clubs. We had a king room with a balcony that overlooked a lovely pool area. Upscale coffee and tea service were provided in the room. The bathroom […] had Crabtree & Evelyn toiletries available as well as Q-tips and cotton balls. The fitness room, which was free to guests, was newly renovated with state of the art machines and weights. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. We were traveling for pleasure so the lack of free internet service was not a problem for us, but our companions needed to take care of a business matter during our stay and had to pay nearly $1 a minute to use the business center.
