- es wurde seit Jahrzehnten nicht renoviert - veraltete Anlage - keine Minibar - kein Flat Screen TV - Room Service / Reception nicht per Telefon erreichbar - Weckruf vom Hotel vergessen - eines 4* Hotels definitiv nicht würdig.

The hotel rooms are spacious and the location is good for the city centre. I have stayed there many times and almost every time I am there the television reception is terrible.

Overall for a 4 star hotel this is a poor showing. I do not know how they manage to retain their 4 star status. Bar closed at 10:30pm. The non smoking rooms stank of smoke. Had to be moved twice. I stayed here for 8 nights. After flying and traveling for over 20 hours I arrived early in the morning and was extremely jet lagged. I was checked in and a room was made available to me within minutes of arrival. The staff did not give me a hassle or anything regarding my impromptu early check-in. I was in a room and laying down by 0930 in the morning. […] There was not a business center but international fax, scanning and other business amenities were made available to me through the front office staff. Overall this is a acceptably-comfortable hotel, but what makes it so disappointing is the expectation of something much more based on the star rating, description, and photos. Overall, the stay here was relatively trouble-free. Room contained iron/ironing board, bathrobe, full bath and shower facilities. Shower not the greatest I must say, and the room was a little dated. The TV could do with an upgrade as it is still an old CRT type TV. Location is close to Union street. Room was cleaned daily and no issues there.

The only saving grace is the staff working there, they try their best to keep the old place functioning. A clean but very tired hotel that probably inherited its four stars at some point in its past but now in need a of a total rebuild. Go elsewhere, unless you like stairs. Lift tiny, but runs from basement car park and smells of cigarette smoke. Car park although is near non-existent hotel is fortunate to have a large public multi storey nearly opposite. The room was neat and tidy though only furnished with toiletries for one person and 2 lightbulbs needed to be replaced - all put right on request. The breakfast was excellent value. Great location. Very enjoyable

Ok if your company is picking up the tab. Very disappointing if you are paying. Staff are run off their feet with hoards of oil workers checking in for one night. Room was comfortable enough. Meals were poor. Avoid Tuesday's Thai buffet, tasted very reheated. Cooked breakfast was ok but rather simple.

Unfortunately, I was not impressed with this hotel. I have been staying in quite a few hotels this past year within Scotland and I would have to say this is the worse yet. There is no correlation between the price paid and what was offered . . . disappointed. It was very noisy in the mornings while the cleaning staff chatted away with others. At night time, while trying to enjoy a drink, it took quite a while for someone to assist us at the bar. In addition, it was impossible to enter the lounge area via the main entrance due to a water leak right in front of the doors. Getting in to the car park is a challenge - the entrance is very tight. Fortunately there's a multi-storey just over the road. Once you've hauled your bags from there, there is a steep flight of steps to get to get to the lobby, with one more to reception. No help offered. The room was ok; clean and spacious with a very comfy bed. Unfortunately the […] device to operate the bath plug was broken but a bit of fiddling got it so that the shower was usable. The bathroom extractor fan didn't work. No drinks on draft at the bar and only generic lagers and Irish cider in the fridge. V limited range of whiskies. (No attempt at even pretending to be anything other than a bland and anonymous chain hotel). Internet access is shown in the room information as being available for £18 /day. Why is it these big chain hotels insist on charging for internet - it's not special or an option any more. It's free in McDonalds for goodness sakes. Everyone knows it doesn't cost anything like this to provide. Checked with reception - it's £5/day but is very slow. 512k download is pretty poor. The service only works for the evening. Much time is wasted the next morning trying to get it working. At checkout, complaining gets the charge removed. However, that's after the hotel tries to charge me for £80 of food and drink that I didn't have! All in all, not an experience I could recommend. Oh - one major positive was the staff. I booked to double rooms- what a waste of money, that almost ruined my weekend, The hotel was nothing like what was described when advertised. The room were dirty, smelly and something from the 1920's, the bathrooms were in serious need of repair and revamping. There was mold on the tiles and around the bath. Toilet made horrendous noise when flushed. Expelair in bathroom didnt work so steamed up badly. Shower fittings hanging off wall. Car park a nightmare too tight to get large car into and only about 20 bays for whole hotel.

Very noisy guests on same level so was wakeand throughout the night and then to be awakened in the morning by the police or manager knocking at our door in the morning and telling us to open the door NOW! Other guests in the room opposite had taken something from the bar without paying. So our relaxing stay was NOT so relaxing!!

overall we had a nice stay but was very surprised to see there were no mattress or pillow protectors which are a must for cleanliness. We were only given 2 pillows (1 each) with none in the wardrobe should we want an extra one. Furniture was chipped and tired so i am surprised they are 4 stars. The staff were very helpful on front desk but not in the dining room the waiter could do with a customer care workshop. The hotel is very dated and looks well overdue for a refurbish. Decore was poor and the walpaper was comming off the walls. Menue had been very limited and expensive for what it was. Very good Italian close by, so that cheared me up. Glad I got a good discount when booking or I would have been realy disappointed.

Two out of three nights were spoilt by the noise from the function room where the ceilidh and then the wedding reception went on into the early hours,so loudly that the mirrors and pictures in the room vibrated.When we tried to ring reception or room service no one answered.

Having booked a twin room online for myself and my daughter, we arrived to find we had been allocated a double room. The lady on reception apologised and checked straight away for an available twin room. We ended up with 2 double beds. Luxury! Thank you!

Splashes of toothpaste on back of bathroom door. Mirror dirty. Carpet not hoovered. Shower curtain clingy and disabled rail nearly forces you out of the shower. Shower head too low. I found this Hotel to be very dirty , it requires some updating to their bedrooms and furniture in the restaurant, the cleaniness of this hotel leaves a lot to be desired. I will not go back or recommend it to anybody.

the car park only holds 17 cars very tightly no large cars would get in as its underground so as a car driver its a no go for me expensive parking around the hotel.rekon the staff use the carpark so they would be better sayong no carpark then people wont be disapointed location perfect hotel clean tired a bit but no problems

This is not a four star hotel. The standard of service, the fitout of the room and the general fabric of the interior is poor and tired. It should have been updated twenty years ago.

Room was fine, bathroom needed some maintenance,towel rail not attached at bottom. Food was good, but service was slow and uncoordinated in the bar and restaurant. Waited 20mins before anyone came to take my order at breakfast,after being shown to the table. Reception staff most helpful.

Hotel was handy for sightseeing; shops etc. Car Park however wasn't very big & very difficult to get into spaces! Not to be recommended! Hotel had a wedding on whilst we were there which meant it was almost impossible to get evening meal

Booked as a surprise weekend getaway for my family , as like many working families never get any quality time together so thought booking a 4 star hotel would be a lovely luxury treat. When we arrived we found the hotels tiny car park was full as it hold a maximum of 10-12 cars which for the size of the hotel is ridiculous. But thankfully there is a […] multi storey car park just opposite with reasonable charges. Our family room for four was awful, my two girls had to sleep in the same bed which did not go down well at all. It had a large patch of mould in the corner of the roo. The room was so tiny we had to keep climbing over the bed to get to the bathroom which was also covered in mould. We then found out the room was only catered for 2, so towels were a big problem we were promised extra milk & tea bags but they never arrived. We then found out later in the evening the hotel was hosting a wedding party which meant the music was pounding through the walls till 1.00am keeping the whole family awake, no amount of cotton buds helping. In my opinion this hotel needs a total overhaul as it is extremely outdated and looking very dirty. I am truly surprised this hotel is classed as a 4 star. Mehr

it took about 1 hour to check in they had no confirmation on there computer from hotels.com so very poor service. and the policy for breakfast at the hotel dosen,t work they say you can have breakfast in your room but the ticket you hang on your door does not get taken away so very poor there too.

I did have high expectations of the Copthorne as we have stayed at others in the same chain in overseas destinations, but I wouldn't say it was luxury rather more utilitarian. It was also rather hard to find as it is not on a main street. Lunch menu was good, though didn't try evening meal. The free carpark was appreciated.

Comfortable, spacious and clean room which was specifically used for wheelchair user. Bed was particularly comfy! Breakfast tasty and good service from staff, plenty of choice on offer. Bar /lounge area relaxing with good service from the young barman. The hotel was comfortable and staff very good, knowlegable, polite & helpful The decor in the rooms and hall ways was slightly dated and the floors squeaked in a couple of places. The room I stayed in was very big by modern hotel standards. The blackout curtains were excellent and cut out the evening sun very well. The room was very quiet.

Hotel is ok but car park is very small and cramped, and was full when we arrived. We had to put the car into the council car park across the street which adds to the cost and inconvenience since you need to buy a ticket each time you park.
