Good location, helpful staff and good value for money, but this is NOT a 4-star hotel - it is 3 star by Euro standards and 2.5 star by American standards. Bed was hard as a rock, room was small and shower sprayed all over the bathroom floor no matter what I tried to do to prevent it... Also, be aware you must pay room tax and Internet with cash only. […] Breakfast is OK - good croissants, otherwise pretty basic and no hot food. Mehr

Great location and the staff was very friendly. If you are looking for a good nights sleep however, this is not the hotel for you. The hotel is located on a busy street and all hours of the night you can hear sirens and cars, even with the windows sealed shut and the curtains drawn. The beds are also quite uncomfortable, but if it was quieter, I think […] it wouldn't have been as much of a problem. Breakfast was good and again the location was unbeatable. The only real setback with this hotel was the noise level, it was awful but if that isn't a concern for you then this would be a nice hotel. Mehr

We stayed four nights in August at this hotel. We were very satisfied. The location was excellent and we could walk to the important sites. The staff was very helpful and friendly. They eagerly did any task for us. Breakfast was in a beautiful room. The choice of food was excellent. We would gladly stay here again.

I would highly recommend the Traiano hotel to anyone that is looking for a convenient place to stay in Rome. The hotel is in the perfect location to walk everywhere! The hotel itself has a lot of old world character and the staff are very friendly. The guy at reception was even helping me learn Italian! I booked one of the smaller rooms at a decent […] price for so last minute, which was fine for one person...maybe a little cramped in the bathroom, but I was barely at the hotel at all so it really wasn't an issue. I could hear the traffic at night, but even as a light sleeper I was able to get a great night's sleep. The breakfast was delicious and in a fantastically decorated old room. I would absolutely return to this hotel if I'm ever in Rome again. I already have recommended it to a coworker that is going there soon. Enjoy! Mehr

Great simple hotel. Not very fancy but just perfect for a short stay in Rome. Really helpful staff (nothing was too much trouble) and a perfect location for colosseum, corso etc.

Before getting to the hotel review a bit of useful info I wish I'd had. The taxi drive from the nearest train station to the hotel is about eight or nine euros (plus two euros more for the bags). We got to Rome by train from Venice and despite it being a Eurostar we were exhausted so as soon as we stepped out of the station and a man asked if we needed […] a taxi, we acknowledged that we did. When told the name of our hotel, he looked at our bags and said it'd cost forty euros to get there. We didn't know how far it was so we agreed and he assigned another man to take us. Weird. The young man asked that we follow and a block later we became suspicious, but he kept reassuring that the taxi was right there. Half a block after that, he stops by a blue unmarked corolla. Before placing our luggage into the trunk I told him we had requested a taxi and thanked him but would not ride with him. He became upset and shouted something in Italian about being part of a "cooperativa". We told him that we meant no disrespect but we'd rather take an official cab and he left us there. We walked all the way back to the station, got into a real cab, gave the driver the address of Traiano on paper and he cursed under his breath (at that point we knew it was a short ride). We reached Traiano within minutes and the meter marked six euros. The driver was not mean, and for future reference I asked about the fee above the meter marking. He explained that this reflected picking us at the station. I know taxis charge more when you get them at airports and such, so this was not a surprise. Very glad not to have gotten into the cooperativa's vehicle. It's a total scam. The hotel's common areas are lovely and the room is spacious. However, the bed was hard (though this seems to be the rule and not the exception in Europe), the walls in the room were in dire need of re-painting, and the carpet could have used a cleaning asap. Pleasant, professional staff. Clean facility. Shower in tub was narrow. Bed was very firm. Could feel springs in mattress. I should have requested extra blankets to put between mattress and bottom sheet. Location is excellent.

After being charged an excessive amount for over weight luggage & then having Alitalia (Delata partner) lose my luggage, it was nice to arrive at the Traiano. I am familiar with the area & the location and cheerful/professional greeting at hotel made me less stressed over my lost luggage. They were very helpful & agreed to keep calling Alitalia regarding […] my bag & kept me posted, until bag was finally delivered days later. The hotel itself is a truly nice period building, well maintained. All basic services were good. Location is great, across from the Mercati Traiano Museum & accessible in walking distance to most of Rome. Views from my window were great, postcard quality. Plan on rebooking there for next Rome trip. Mehr

Upon arrival we were greeted by the hotel front desk clerk (Joseph) and our bellman with a smile! After a minute of discussion, we were moved to a wraparound balcony room with wonderful vistas. The room was exceptional in cleanliness, spaciousness, and charm. Also, Hotel Traiano is conveniently located (walking distance) to all the must see attractions […] of Old Rome. In the evening, Joseph recommended dinner at Ristorante Petrucci which was right around the corner. The appetizer sampler was wonderful as was the meal. The house wine is a true example of classic Italian table wine. You can't buy this stuff over in the U.S. All in all, Rome was made delightful by the wonderful staff at Hotel Traiano. Mehr

Staff was great, location was great, but I cant stay here again,, If you are In Rome on business or need internet service, don't stay here. Try 20 seconds, it will not download or connect with outlook via VPN and IP phones will not work. The front desk will say that they have no issues with the internet with other guests. Staff was snotty. Internet didn't work in the room and only worked part of the time in the lobby. If you have to work while on vacation do not stay at this hotel. It will drive you crazy. Location is pretty good, but so much construction going on in front of the hotel that trying to get in and out of the hotel was pretty sketchy. The taxi's couldn't […] pull in. L'Hotel denuncia una certa anzianità, soprattutto nell'ascensore. Il bagno è piccolo. Le stanze sono disturbate dal rumore dei bagni limitrofi. L'armadio di servizio è fattiscente. Non è adeguato alle quattro stelle denunciate, ma piuttosto un tre stelle e non dei migliori.

Veldig greit utgangspunkt, gangavstand til det meste. Veldig slitt hotell, men rene rom. Det er god lydisolering på rommene.Kan lure på hvorfor de har 4 stjerne og ikke 3. Hotellet har ikke egen parkering, men leier hos et firma. Sjekk pris på forhånd.

Hotellet er et udmærket mellemklasse hotel med en perfekt placering. Der er god service og der er hvad man har brug for. Pænt Italiensk morgenbord. Man kan stort set gå til alle væsentlige seværdigheder fra hotellet. Og placering næsten lig op ad Forum Romanum er helt fantastisk.

The location is perfect and the service was find and very kind, but as a very frequent user of hotels, I think that the standard of e.g. beds and breakfast is below the standard you will expect at this price level

Excellent location, close to all major sights. About 5 minutes walk to Colosseum, Forum Romanum and Trevi Fountain and about 10 minutes walk to Pantheon. We even walked to Vatican City, took less then 30 minutes. Close to for example Trastevere which is a very nice area with lots of small cafes and restaurants. The hotel is definately not a 4-star-hotel […] by Finnish standards and the room was pretty small, but for a short stay (we stayed 3 nights) I would happily recommend it to those who appreciate a good location and don't mind a little out of date rooms. Hotel Traiano ligger perfekt til de fleste seværdigheder. Det værelse vi fik var lille og ret mørkt, men der var hvad der skulle være. Pæn rengøring og på trods af beliggenheden forbavsende roligt. Morgenmaden var pæn og servicen var fin.

Chambre sans aucune décoration (avec une toute petite télévision cathodique), donnant sur une cour intérieure qui sert de débarras. Petit déjeuner tres décevant : faux jus d'orange (et d'ananas), pain pas tourjours frais, pas de fruits frais, café/chocolat à se servir soit meme sur un distributeur automatique.

Personalet var meget venlige og flyttede os til et bedre værelse da det første var lidt mørkt
