Amazing. When we arrived to check in at 5:00 before going to the first 6:00 PM event, the room was not ready. There had been a large conference at the hotel. We left and returned at 11:00 PM. The hotel was still full and we were upgraded to the President's Suite at the same price. Nice comp for the slight inconvenience. I was not overly impressed with this hotel. The rate was higher than average. While the hotel is lovely in some respects, other things were frustrating. Good things: live plants everywhere, lovely conference area and beautiful outdoor area. Bad: moldly tasting water, very limited tv channels (who doesn't have history channel or more than one kid channel?) […] and over-priced food. I doubt I would stay there again. Mehr

I've stayed here once before and really liked it; this time was not the same. I will actually be passing on this hotel in the future. This time my room was located next to the elevators and ice machine - I did not get any sleep. In addition, the beds were extremely firm and typically like a firm bed. staff was not pleassant when checking me in to hotel. was condescending in tone and very abrupt. was given a handicap accessibe room- that was adjacent to elevators. not only does this take away from those who may need the room, but also was loud (literally elevators shared a wall with my room). could not sleep well due to noise level, and also the […] shower head was 5 ft from floor and i am over 6 ft tall. makes it difficult to wash hair unless you want to do it with one hand while the other holds the removable showerhead. i honestly felt that i was given a 'leftover' since i got such a good deal on my room (less than 1/2 price). due to the above i will never stay here again. I was attending a class in the conference center and it was so very convenient to be able to be able to stay in the same building. I had a special rate through the class, but booked through Hotels.com and got a slightly better rate (plus the rewards points). The rooms are comfortable (but no outlets near the bed) and the shower has good water pressure, […] even on the 10th floor. The bathroom is quite small, but functional. Loved having a fridge. The restaurant is quite nice and I recommend the Pappardella with a Sun King Wee Mac (local brew). Mehr

went to super x race superdome and this hotel for first time ever and had a great time.see you next year.

We were only there for one evening but I was very satisfied with the room and the staff.

Hotel was a great price-in town for Bball tournament. Got hotel for shuttle service to games. 1 shuttle was running, 1 had broke down. Walked instead after waiting downtown for 1/2 hr & called 3 times. They did apologized & compensated for my pkg fee tho as a courtesy. Quiet rooms, clean & comfortable.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel and were deeply disappointed. We understood we weren't going to stay at a Hilton or 4 Star hotel but we expected better treatment from the employees than what we received. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and hope that management spends some time working with their front desk and concierge group.

I'll start with the good parts: the lobby is very nice and the proximity to the IUPUI natatorium is unbeatable. The food in the restaurants is OK. The room was a different story. We had to get past the trash can in the middle of the hallway (that was catching a water leak) to get to the elevator. When we arrived at the room, it was like the picture […] online, but more run-down in person. I turned the sheet down on the bed and found a toenail near the pillow...Disgusting!!! There was a small amount of debris and dust all around the edges of the room- not much vacuuming being done! We returned to the room at 3:45 the next day, only to find that the room had not been made up yet. We had to leave to allow the room to be "cleaned". Again, for location to the natatorium, it can't be beat. But the room was certainly a disappointment. Mehr

stayed here the night before surgery and it was lovely! great service, quiet, convenient access to the hospital from the 2nd floor.

Hotel staff was very nice. The hotel was conveniently located for my appointment at the hospital. Wish there were more places to eat around the hotel. We ordered room service twice and both times order was delivered quickly. Hallways smelled funky. The coffeepot in our room had old coffee in it.

I had a connected room and I heard every phone conversation next door while I was trying to sleep. I also heard clearly a man urinating in another nearby room and heard every toilet and sink that ran that night. If there was better sound proofing I would have thought the rooms were GREAT. But instead it was awful. The Chancellor restaurant is poorly […] run. It seems to have alot of good qualities but we were there on a slow night and the customers were all seated in opposite corners of the eatary and thus the waiter was not able to efficiently wait on us and he seemed inexperienced but was doing his best. You need to get a new manager becx the way it was functioning that night was like there was NO managment. It COULD be a fine place . I had to hv my son stuff a napkin under the table leg becx it kept rocking and then I saw an old lady ask the waiter do the same thing to her table becx it rocked every time she cut her steak...these are the most basic things thus there is NO management..just put the money in the position and make it successful. I also had to pay 50 bucks for 2 valet charges and I stayed only one night! I feel like that is just a money making trap for your guests and NOT a good way to treat a guest if you want them to come back. Mehr

My 76-year-old father needed cancer treatment at the hospital next to this hotel at the beginning of Super Bowl week. After we paid the *extremely* inflated Super Bowl price so we could use the covered walkway between this hotel and the hospital, they closed the walkway for anyone who didn't have NFL credentials. Never mind that my father had *cancer*. […] They made us go outside and walk to the hotel in the dark. When we were leaving, they wouldn't let us in the parking garage, because, again, we didn't have NFL credentials. (Never mind that they had charged us $18 to park there!) The only help the bully in the garage would offer is to tell me to go inside the hotel and ask for security to help me. I had to leave my father standing at the top of the garage (he had had cancer surgery only a couple of hours before this), and go get someone from security to escort me to my car. I thought these people were trained in "hospitality," but they couldn't even show the least bit of compassion or human kindness. Hospitality was completely off the table. Mehr

I reserved a 2 DBL bedroom for 4 adults thru HOTELS.COM and paid in full. When we arrived the University Palace Hotel, Indianapolis was overbooked and tried to put us in 1 king bed! They told me that they didn’t have to honor our request for two doubles because we purchased our reservation through HOTELS.COM and those reservations are not always guaranteed. […] Then they showed me section on the reservation Hotels.com sent and it stated that 2 double were listed as a preference and followed by an *. Then they should me the * note in small print. *Please note: Preferences and requests cannot be guaranteed. Special requests are subject to availability upon check-in and may incur additional charges. So I showed them the section below that clearly stated my room charges were for 4 adults in a Standard Two Double Room. After a 45-minute “heated” debate and a lot of “BS” they gave me a 2 DBL bedroom. I suggest HOTELS.COM not list a booked room reservation as “PREFERENCE” so hotels looking for a reason to bump a guest due to overbooking or any other lame reason can’t use that as leverage. That said, for all the good it did, I had called the University Palace Hotel and confirmed my reservation two days prior to our arrival. Our rooms were clean and comfortable. The Den is the family restaurant and is small as it only had 6-7 four top tables -the bar on the other side sat more but kids are not allowed to eat there. Morning buffet for swimmers opened late and was poorly run-not good when on a tight schedule. Shuttle service was convenient and drivers were professional Lobby Bar is just that, a very small and “uninviting” bar in the lobby using plastic cups. Valet was professional and efficient. Mehr

Hotel is 1 1/2 blocks from the Natatorium. They also have a shuttle service that will take you where you need to go on campus running all day. Other than having to wait for the shuttle and some communication errors it was great. We stayed at the hotel the weekend before the Super Bowl. We stay in Indy ever year for a swim meet at IUPUI. This hotel is very convenient--walking distance to the pool. In previous years, we have stayed at the Hilton. That hotel was ALWAYS noisy, with fraternity-type parties spread throughout the hotel, and parking was hit or miss. I vowed not to return. The University Hotel is a great alternative for our […] family. Parking is very convenient--under the hotel. The biggest downside is the distance to downtown. Not really walkable. They do have a free shuttle, and a cab ride was about $10 each way with tip. We will stay here again next year as it is most convenient for our event. Mehr

I loved the proximity to IU and my room was very comfortable. I was a little disappointed about having to pay for parking. Also the shower in my room could have been cleaned a little better (hairs on the wall that were not mine) and we were only given one short roll of toilet paper. Otherwise I really enjoyed my stay.

Was a great place to go at the end of a long day while visiting a patient in the hopital. The Food in the resturants were great too

Valet guys provided great service. Upon entering room for the first time:The toilet had poo in it. Had not been cleaned although the beds were made, etc. Called front desk asked to change rooms and told him why. When I arrived at the desk, the guy was chatting on the phone about something he had put on ebay it sounded like. I finally used the bathroom […] in the lobby. Changed rooms:Mirror very smudged with splatter from previous guests. It had been wiped judging from streaks- but not cleaned. The room service guy had no teeth and a huge black dime-sized sore on his forehead. Not ONE person asked how my stay was when I checked out. If they had, I would not be writing this.SInce the right to work/union thing is the hot topic in Indiana right now, It IS possible that the staff is unionized and on a passive aggressive "strike" of sorts...I have no idea. My stay was miserable, unlike the three previous times I have stayed there. ;( Mehr

To make my self very clear... I was first put into a room that only had one bed, and wasn't even cleaned up yet ( we arrived around 5 or 6 pm ). When I called back down to the front deck I told the lady ( that answerd the phone ) about the room only having one bed and that it wasn't even cleaned, she said there wasn't any guarantees to get a double […] bed. After going down to the front desk and telling them, that wasn't what I ask for online, I ask for double beds and if you cant give me double beds just refund my money. So... I finally got double beds. The hotel shows to have Wi-Fi service for all guest, but we were unable to connect after tring on numerous occasions. I called down to front desk, told them it wouldn't connect, they said come back down to the front desk and get a new pass code. I did so four different times and still wouldn't connect. This was a problem that was happening with everyone I spoke to. The remote to the tv in the room only worked part of the time. The sheet, on one of the beds had a stain......like makeup... blood ... or something. The only thing that would fix this is give at least half my money back !!! I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO OTHERS !!! Mehr

Was down in Indy for my mom to have major surgery the following day. We got there in the late evening so it was nice to have a bar/resturant and the food was good. When it was time for bed, my Mom bed was clean for the look of it, but my bed was full of long brown hair on the fitting sheet, on the pillows, on the top sheet..yuk. It looked like housekeeping […] didnt check if the bed was used by the previous guest. I had to sleep on top of covers, because my mom was sleep by this time and didnt want to disturb her. Follow night, after long day, about 5am, there was a constant banging and sawing sound; found out that they was working on the main floor so it wasnt just us on the 4th floor there was a lot of guest affected. I was not as pleased as what I read on the review; I actually went to a cheaper place (Microtel Inn) with good review and was very satisfied. Mehr

The booking person at the front desk went above and beyond what my expectations were in finding a place to have a meeting. The whole place was booked but she found a spot in the museum library where I could have a very important business meeting. I want to say thanks and that it meant so much to us.

We stayed at University Place while attending the Big 10 Football Championship game at Lucas Oil Stadium. It was an easy walk to the game, downtown restaurants, etc, and reasonably priced compared to other downtown Indy options. Room and public areas were very nice and it had a relaxed atmosphere and setting compared to typical urban hotels. Staff was […] very courteous. Even traded email with GM before arrival re. safety of walking to stadium and he personally responded within hours! Mehr

Absolutely beautiful...from the moment we walked through the front doors!! Facility was so visually appealing and clean, it even smelled cleaned! Just a wonderful stay, we really felt welcomed and safe! A very attentive and courteous staff as well. One recommendation....not charge for parking!!

Positives: Nice, clean, convenient hotel. Speedy and reasonably priced room service. Sufficient gym. Negatives: Would not provide a late checkout. Shop closed right as I arrived requesting purchase of a toiletry & wouldn't/couldn't reopen for a minute. Insufficient elevators - long wait for elevator when conference ended each day. Just make sure you ask for a non-handicap room. This was my fourth stay there and this time got a handicap room, which is fine other than the fact that I'm nearly 6' with long hair and the shower is designed for someone incapacitated, so therefore I practically had to do a backbend in order to wash my hair. My wife and I had the pleasure of staying here during our trip to Indy for a concert event. The moment we pulled up, walked up to checking and reached our room exemplified what one would expect when choosing a hotel. All the staff were very helpful and informative. The proximity of the hotel to the downtown center and surrounding areas were great. Close […] enough to allow quick access but far enough away to not feel overcrowded by the downtown core. But the star of the stay was the comfort, size and decor of the room and hotel spaces. Very nicely done. While it was just a weekend get away it felt as though we were in an aniversary get away. This was our first stay at University Place and surely won't be our last. I commend and applaud the hotel staff and mgmt for such a pleasant and relaxing stay. Mehr
