Das Hotel ist 10 Minuten Fussweg vom Amtrak-Bahnhof. Ausserdem hat es einen Zubringerdienst zum Bahnhof. Also wer ankommt oder weiterreist mit dem Zug hat es hier sehr bequem. Es liegt auf der Hauptstrasse, die St. Paul und Minneapolis bindet. Ab Sommer 2013 wird in dieser Strasse eine Tramlinie zwischen den beiden Städten fahren, die jetzt noch im Bau ist. Das Hotel selbst ist einfach aber gut, mit Schwimmbecken und Sauna. Alles in Ordnung. Restaurant (ab 7 Uhr) nebenan.

Wir haben dieses Hotel gewählt, weil es in der Nähe der Mall of America lag. Etwas umstädnlicher zu Erreichen, durch die Serviceroads zu erreichen, ist aber Ami-Like. Aber für "Ungewohnte" eher mühsam :-)

Das Hotel hat bessere Zeiten gesehen, ist nicht gerade top gepflegt, aber sehr angenehm, vor allem weil es kein rundum luftdicht verschlossener Bunker ist. Die Zimmer sind riesig, die Betten sehr gut. Unten gibt es einen sehr netten Pub, in dem außer Getränken auch wirklich gutes Essen serviert wird. Die Hotelhalle mit riesigen Palmen und Teichen mit lebenden Enten ist eine Schau. Es gibt einen amerikanisch-nüchternen Frühstücksbereich, das Frühstück selbst ist sehr gut und ein freundlicher Koch serviert köstliche Omelettes nach Wahl.

"Wonderful Weekend Away"
It was a great hotel to stay at for the weekend. The customer service was above and beyond what I expected. When checking in they asked if we were doing anything fun for the weekend and mentioned it was my wife's birthday and getting away for a quiet and relaxing weekend. When getting back from the restaurant the first night, we were suprised to find […] champagne and chocolate covered strawberries with a Happy Birthday card from the hotel staff that checked us in. It made the weekend even more enjoyable. The rooms were VERY clean, which my wife is very picky about. The coffee in the morning with a selection of newspapers was great and the wine receiptions in the evening were wonderful. We will definietly stay here again the next time we get away for a weekend. "Great hotel - old world charm + cool boutique"
Its a legacy hotel with a brand new renovated facade and interior. Great lobby and bar. Rooms can be different sizes due to the hotel's history but super comfortable and well endowed. Service in the hotel is great, pay attention to the valet which is actually around the corner and no in front. Highly recommended.

Initially we weren't placed into the room we booked, but they gave us a room that was a step up from what we had booked. Because we booked the specific room type for a specific amenity, they allowed us to switch rooms the second night once the room type we had booked became available. "Pet Friendly indeed!"
Had my 2nd stay at the hotel this weekend, and it was even better than my 1st! The staff was so friendly and helpful. Our room was very clean as well as the hotel in general. It was great to have our dog with us. Again the staff was social, friendly, and helpful regarding our pet. I got a great deal on hotels.com, and for all the hotel came with 4 star […] staff, health club access, wine hour, valet, pet friendly, etc it was well worth the cost. I highly recommend this hotel. Conveniently located right downtown, connected to the Skyway, friendly staff. The happy hour is kind of weak. Free glass of whte or red wine basically. The bar is nice, I'm not a drinker but the bar guys seemed to know how to make some pretty fancy and interesting drinks. Only issue I had was a slow draining sink in my room. I didn't want to have to […] deal with the maintenance during my stay (even though it was gross brushing my teeth, BF shaving, etc) but once I told them when checking out they called maintenance on the radio right then and there. Oh, and you have to pay for Internet and paper if you want to print in the business center, which didnt work well for me as I was there to present a conference paper, but the desk staff helped me out and let me print from the front desk. I wouldn't count on it all the time though... Also you have to join their loyalty program to get free Internet in the room, which doesn't help the printing situation either, and is kind of annoying. The hotel where the conference was didn't have free internet either, which I think is kind of silly considering how much we pay for these hotels and c'mon, wireless internet, should be a give in now a days... My wife and I were treated like royalty at the Grand Hotel. The accommodations were spacious, the food was delicious and the service was instant and top-notch. We had a hard time returning to our daily lives after the plush king-sized bed and the complimentary robes.

The hotel was very clean. The bed linens were not quite what we expected from a "Grand" hotel. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The room size was slightly less than desirable.

I travel extensively, and this is a terrific hotel. Wonderful staff, lively and eclectic bar (the bar manager, Troy, is a wizard), and the room was spacious and wonderfully appointed. The Kimpton Group apparently completed a full "makeover" of the property quite recently, and it's a very successful combination of old world elegance with contemporary […] touches. I really enjoyed my stay. Although, I did have two complaints. One was that the room description says city view and I had no view whatsoever from my window which was hugely disappointing and secondly I did not like that everything in the room was for sell. Made me a bit anxious about touching anything. Overall, nice hotel.

The hotel was nice and quiet, it was fairly clean, and maybe even a little bit too fancy. All of the staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms, lobby, and just about everything else are very beautiful. The only down side is that pool is built more for exercise swimming ,which you can make out from the pictures. But this is hardly even a critique. […] The hotel is right across from a parking lot. They are located very well within the city. "I love Minneapolis!"
My boyfriend and I came to Minneapolis to watch the Lakers beat the Timberwolves and we spent the weekend at The Grand Hotel. Our stay was great. We got to the hotel from the airport at 11am, and though we were not able to check in, the associates kept our luggage and called us when our room was ready, so we were able to explore downtown for a few hours. […] We also were able to do a late check out on Sunday (2pm), and that was a life saver, because we had a late night enjoying some of the downtown nightlife. The front desk, was friendly and helpful and the in room dining was delicious. (They put bacon in my ice cream...you gotta love that!!) Our room was beautiful...there was a tv in the bathtub!! I will definitely stay here next time I come to Minneapolis! Thanks! Mehr

"Incidental Charges"
$100 per night incidental charges are put on card. We were double charged ($400 total) and never given our money back. We ended up contesting the charges with our bank and got the amount removed. They have a very shady computer system and apathetic employees when it comes to this.

We overall enjoyed our stay at the Grand Hotel, but most likely will not stay there again. We enjoy some of the amenities that the Grand Hotel does not offer. Such as a mini fridge in the room, an ice-maker on the floor we are staying. The hotel did not have a hot tub, and the parking situation we didn't care for. You will PAY to park downtown, and […] if you use the Valet parking the Grand Hotel has, The Grand Hotel will not disclose the parking cost's upfront, and it is quite a shock if your not expecting the charge, for which should be no charge if your paying the Lodging fee to stay at the Hotel in the first place. The property has fully stocked minibars and honor bars in every guest room. The front desk will provide a key upon check in. Ice is available at your request through our In Room Dining department - we are here to pamper our guests. The hotel offers valet service for $30.00 per night with unlimited in and out privileges. There are packages available to include our parking fees, but unfortunately, the hotel does not have a self parking option. I understand you were disappointed the property does not have a hot tub, but there is a steam room and sauna available in the athletic club. I hope you were able to enjoy those! We stayed at the Grand two nights, had a very nice and comfortable room. I really liked the design of the place, and the decorating. I was pleased with the cleanliness of the room, but not of the hallways. Both days, it took between 6-10 hors before roomservice trays were picked up from the hallways. "Classic Hotel in Downtown"
Art Deco styled hotel in downtown near Skywalk. Comfortable, quiet; a mix of business people and tourists in 1930'sstyle. Near to everything. Restaurant called "Rare" billed as sushi place sufferes from non-Japanese staff kookie Americanized menu and soggy sushi rolls reminiscent of bad pizza.
"Do not stay at this hotel"
Three of my colleagues and I arrived at the same time on January 16. Two were immediately provided rooms. Two of us waited just over 3 hours for our rooms - we did arrive about 20 minutes before the 3:00pm check-in time. We had no contact from the staff during our wait, other than our questioning them. I assume the fact that the NBA teams stay there […] excuses their need to provide any sort of customer service to actual paying customers. We travel extensively all over the country and have never been treated this poorly. We will be in Minneapolis numerous times over the next 6-9 months. We will not stay at this hotel again. Mehr

I really enjoyed my room-- it was quiet, spacious, with a lovely bathroom and deep soaking bathtub! Hotel staff were generally very nice. However, one thing was really disappointing-- I had chosen not to rent a car so needed a taxi both mornings to get to my business meetings. On both days, the hotel doormen persistently tried to persuade me to take […] a town car for "the same price as a taxi" which I found hard to believe. They quoted me $35 for a town car to get to the Univ. District in St. Paul-- and after I insisted that they call a cab, the taxi fare was only $20. Interestingly, the taxi driver asked me if the doormen had pushed the town car option on me, and when I told him they did, he suggested that the doormen had an ownership in the town car, and that was actually illegal. I have no way of checking those assertions, however I will say that when I got in the cab, I heard the doorman yell across the street to the town car driver, "She's only going to St. Paul-- not the airport." I don't know if the Kimpton management is even aware of this situation, but I wanted to warn other hotel guests to watch out for this situation. Mehr

My wife and I stayed downtown as a little mini-vacation - in town from the suburbs. The staff was gracious, helpful and efficient.. The room perfect and immaculate. We had numerous requests of the staff and all were accommodated.

"Great luxury downtown"
The staff of the hotel were very cordial, friendly, and welcoming. They went out of their way to make us happy and comfortable. The amenities were exceptional - loved the daily wine tasting. Very nice bar in lobby, with a fun staff. Rooms were VERY nice, with a very large bathroom. Just two blocks off Nicolett Mall, it was very convenient to many attractions […] and stores. Mehr

We stayed in the luxury suite, which was a very nice room and would most likely stay again. There were just a few issues we were disappointed with. First, the parking is very tricky because you cannot pull up in front of the hotel. So you have to find the valet station down the street on the corner and the sign wasn't big enough that we could see it. […] We drove around the block probably 4 times before we finally found it. Second, we order fish tacos from the room service menu and they were definitely not good. Lastly, although it is advertised they offer in room movies THEY DO NOT OFFER ANYMORE. This was very disappointing for us. Other than those issues we would most likely stay here again. The price for the value was exceptional and the front desk service was excellent. Mehr

We are currently working with the city in hopes to return the loading zone back to the front of the hotel. I apologize for any inconvenience you experienced. Our staycation for our anniversary was wonderful, we were looking for a relaxing yet fun time and we found both. Orchestra Hall, fine dining, shopping all within walking distance and the skyway was helpful to get out of the wind in the evening. All the staff at the Grand were helpful, courteous and knowledgeable. The hotel is elegant and welcoming in […] it's ambience. We also recommend the shop on Nicollet Mall, Jeromeo Curiosity Shop; it's a shame there are not more of these store fronts as they are much more enjoyable than the big department stores when wanting to explore. We enjoyed The Oceonaire, wow, it was it's 2nd night in it's new space and it was fabulous. Mehr

It's a super quick walk to the light rail from the airport. They put me on the top floor (15). The room was a good size with a nice TV and a comfy bed. The bathroom was huge -- nice tub, separate shower, big counter, wall-to-wall mirror...even had a digital scale. The hotel also has a great fitness center (for real...not some little room). One negative […] comment is there's no gift shop in the lobby, so if you want some water or something they tell you to get some from the mini-bar...which is crazy expensive so I stocked up at a nearby convenience store. You are correct, we do not have a gift shop, but our Forgot it We Got It program will provide just about anything you may need for your travels. We'll do whatever we can to make your stay enjoyable. The remodel on this hotel is fantastic! The rooms, halls and common areas are very high end with lots of attention to detail. It reminds me of a boutique hotel in Dallas that is triple the cost. You wont be disappointed! Excellent breakfast in the restaurant, free wine in the evenings and a coffee bar in the morning in the beautiful lobby area.
