Das einzig Gute am Hotel ist seine zentrale Lage. Das Zimmer wurde nicht jeden Tag gemacht. Wenn es gemacht wurde, war es mangelhaft (z.B. Flecken auf dem Glastisch nicht entfernt, Fußmatte nicht erneuert, sondern entfernt).. Aerangs fehlte eine Klobürste im Bad. Das Warm-Drehknopf der Duscharmatur fiel herab, wurde nicht repariert (habe es nach 1 Tag […] selbst gemacht): Erste Nacht in einem Zimmer zur Straße unerträglicher Lärm - ungebremst durch schlecht schließende Lammelfenster. Austauschzimmer gab es erst am nächsten Nachmittag, solange mussten alle Sachen wieder in die Koffer! Das Ersatzzimmer war kleiner, der Schrank reichte nur für 1 Person, das Fenster zum Innenhof war undurchsichtig - wahrscheinlich wegen des Anblicks des Innenhofes. Es entsprach als sicherlich nicht der gebuchten Kategorie - Protest blieb wirkungslos, ein adäquates Zimmer wurde nicht angeboten! Es war aber ruhig - bis auf 1 Nacht, in der sich eine Taube in der Klimaanlage durch ständiges Gurren bemerkbar machte. Mehr

Es gibt zwei Sorten von Zimmern. Wir hatten die schlechtere Variante. Nee, das reicht wirklich nur für eine Übernachtung, wenn man woanders nix mehr bekommen hat. Das 'Frühstück' ist ein Witz. Toast, Pulverkaffee und Marmelade, zwei Säfte, Cornflakes und Milch, das war's dann schon. Gegenüber ist ein Wooly mit Bottleshop, da kann man sich das Zimmer […] schön trinken. I enjoyed my stay ,wish it was longer

I left my baggage in their baggage room for 2 days for my 3D/2N diving trip. When I came back, my baggage was lost ! Which made me very disappointed even the staffs are nice.

Got a room in the basement. Large enough for the 3 guys we were, okay for 1 night but no view from the windows uncharming facilities.

Disgusting - if I had not already prepaid for the room we would have left to find another hotel. Luckily we had plans every day from 7am to 7pm so only put our heads on the pillows at night.

the location would rate as the best in cairns.the local staff employed at hides are very passionette about their jobs and reallyshow true customer service.sadly like other hotels in this area cheap backpackers are recruited they have no interest in the property nor do they have any customer service skills what so ever.this will quickly turn people away […] from north queenland.guest like the local knowledge not some rude backpacker. Excellent situation in Cairns central. Good bus service right outside the door. Excellent breakfast, excellent rooms. Decor in room corridors in the need of redecorating but seen worse. Reception staff very helpful. Website could be free if staying in hotel.

extremely unfriendly staff, would not recommend, after nearly a 26 hr journey walked to reception only to be greeted by * at reception by a shhhh shh and finger to lips as he was counting. so so rude. did not know they even had a pool until the last day when we were leaving and i found out by accident as i asked was there a toilet i could use and receptionist […] said yes its out there by the pool! wil not forget the rudeness! We had pretty low expectations to begin with given past reviews and the cost, but we were at least expecting a room free of half eaten hotdogs. It was so revolting I really don't know how housekeeping could have missed it. We informed the gentleman at the front desk but alas it was still there in the room many hours later. He was otherwise pleasant […] and helpful during our one night stay. All in all, and apart from the above, the hotel should be ok for very short stays (ie 2 nights max). It was very well situated in the centre of town and the woolies across the road was super convenient. Breakfast was simple but enough to keep us going. Mehr

We enjoyed our stay in Hides Hotel

we have now stayed at the Hides 3 times and would still go back. would recomend as is good value for money and central to all you need.

Very small rooms, uncomfortable beds, paperwalls, Location is the only positive.

We did not expect that much but were surprised by the service you get for a really low price. Breakfast was good and we also got a free room upgrade, thank you very much! The Hotel is located in the center of Cairns and therefore a perfect hub to start the activities around Cairns.

It's right smack in the middle of everything. A good tour desk next door (Dr. Tours), a great cafe that offers wifi to customers, 3 min walk to the esplanade pool, 7 min walk to Reef Fleet Terminal etc. Double Shot cafe nearby has affordable meals and great service. Location was great, right near the City Center for a great transit Even so was happy with the room, with its location barely spent anytime there!

We had to change rooms after the first night because of outside noise from the drunks. The room was clean but very run down, everything was worn and needed updating. The lift was very old and needed to have some much needed maintenance. Asked for wash cloths and they gave us hand towels. The bathroom was cleaned each day but the towels weren't replaced […] with clean ones. Only one of the staff was friendly and helpful. Mehr

The Good: great location, super convenient to everything we wanted to get to in Cairns; the hotel staff is friendly and very helpful, the room was clean and had a mini fridge, the bed was reasonably comfortable. The Bad: The rooms along the outer balcony have zero noise dampening capacity and no windows to open to allow air flow. The air conditioner […] in our room was even more loud and disruptive than the people partying outside, although not by much. I'm okay with sharing a bathroom with several other rooms, but I really didn't like needing to use the room key to get in. Conclusion: if you're on spring break and want a crash pad for when the bars close, this is great. If you're passing through and need to get up before 6am to be somewhere like we did, ask for a room away from the street or look elsewhere. Mehr

Cairns is a backpackers' town, popular with surfers and divers. If you've outgrown shared bunkrooms in a hostel but don't want to spring for the price of luxury, the Hides Hotel offers a nice balance. The staff is friendly. Most tour transport leaves from right outside of the hotel, and the wrap-around balcony offers a view of the performance space […] in the park. My wife and I stayed here with our 15-month old daughter, and we were happy with the crib provided for the room as well as grateful for the on-room refrigerator. Breakfast was standard cold fare, cereal and bread with jam plus coffee and tea, but its was fine for us. Those wanting more can opt for several restaurants within a few doors of the hotel. Overall, this was a great place to stay on a tight budget. I strongly recommend it. Mehr

This hotel was right in the heart of town. The light balcony breakfast was good with plenty of cereal varieties. The airport shuttle bus drops & picks up right opposite the hotel. The romm was very clean and the staff most helpful. I would recommend this hotel to anyone but don't expect a view from your window. The aircon & fan was excellent

The location of this hotel is superb. There's a Woolworths right opposite the hotel and the esplanade is just a short 5 minute walk. There are a numbers of tour agencies surrounding the hotel, which make it easy for you to compare your tour options. Also, the room that I stayed in was clean and big and could accomodate 3 ppl instead of the specified […] 2 ppl per room. In a nutshell, this is the room to look for if you're looking for a budget accomodation which is centrally located. For the price you pay for, do not expect too much on the interior of your room. I will definitely be back to Hides if I ever return to Cairns again. Mehr

the staff at reception were very friendly and helpful, one may even suspect they were locals!...great central location for our arrival in Cairns with plenty of dining options in short walk ( 12 dollar pub meal with pot next door) rooms are simple but for the price we were super happy...

I really enjoyed my stay at the Hides Hotel in Cairns. It is located in the centre of the city and close to all the sights and the beach and lagoon. The staff was always friendly and helpful. A continental breakfast was included and this was served on the hotel's balcony overlooking the city place - a very nice location. The only thing I would criticize […] is the cleanliness of the rooms. I don't mind finding my own dirt after I have been out for a day, but empty chips packs under the bed (left by previous guests) can and should easily be removed... Mehr

The location is perfect, right in the middle of the downtown Cairns. The staff was friendly and helpful and the room was larger than expected, clean and fairly comfortable. No frills in the room and little around the hotel (pool was just sad), but perfect place to just lay your head at night and get some helpful advice from the staff for local things […] to do. Mehr

Nice and central, it's clean and the staff are helpful and friendly. Only one room in the hotel supports wifi, so be sure to insist on room 106. Very frustrating otherwise. Breakfast simple but as i said, you get what you pay for.

Location was great. Staff very friendly and helpful. No Internet access in rooms. If we had to stay there again we wailed ask for a room in the original hotel with access to the veranda.

Fantastic location right next to the bus transit mall. Only a couple of blocks from the lagoon and a couple the other way to the big mall. Room nothing special but the location sure made up for it.

By Australian standards this is a very competitively-priced hotel, but comfortable and in the very centre of Cairns. I took the option of upgrading to an ensuite room at still a reasonable price. The hotel is unassuming from the outside but, inside, has a great deal of character, especially architecturally. Price and location seemed right. Upon walking into my room I considered checking out. I had prepaid for 2 nights so weathered it out and then immediately checked into another hotel with the same rates but much better condition. The decor is old, and very dark. We live for 5 days and it's a very convenient place to catch. But some may be bothered by late night drunks. In summary, it's a great choice for those who has budget concern and reach for some local advisers.

I had initially booked just one night on the way to another resort and, after staying the night, decided to book another three for the return leg. Got the same rate as the one booked earlier via internet. This is a sprawling complex with a (value) old part and a modern annex. I had two different value rooms and they were perfectly fine; clean, with […] functioning aircon and tv. Simple breakfast on the lovely veranda; wifi available (sadly not free, but a pub down the street has free). Staff were friendly and advised on trips (not just touting the one they offered a rebate for!). Laundry facility was useful. The hotel is right in the middle of the town and loads of restaurants are in walking distance. On the downside, noisy drinkers outside woke me up or kept me awake more that once. Value for money as long as you ask for quiet room. We were given a room overlooking street, plaza and pubs which were very noisy so we requested to move late at night which they kindly did but we were lucky room was available otherwise it would have been a nightmare.Staff helpful. nice to get breakfast included. This is a modest budget hotel right in the middle of everything. It is very conveniently located to restaurants,bars, the park and the pool. A budget accommodation. Nice and helpful staff, not the highest standard but clean and tidy. Some noise from the street at night and early mornings.

The hotel is in a great central location, close to bus/train station, malls, night market, reef terminal, restaurants, pretty much everything.
