Best Western Plus The Normandy Inn & Suites - Minneapolis

We were promised cookies and milk, but when we got back to the hotel Saturday night...there were no cookies or milk to be found. Close to downtown stadiums and bars.

I was in Minneapolis for meetings which where held at the Hilton, near the convention center. The Normandy was less than 10 minutes' walk- closer than I expected. The hotel is dated but is clean and well kept. The gym was excellent- included a full set of dumbells, a Swiss ball, and several different cardio machines. No cable machines or barbell though. […] The restaurant was good (I had breakfast), and there is a little store in the lobby with snack food although I didn't see anything there that seemed remotely healthy. In room complimentary coffee and bottled water are provided. The hotel is one block away from St Olaf church with it's semi-famous choir. Mehr

Our room was smaller than expected. we thought we were getting a pull out couch for 2 of us to sleep instead it was more of an oversized chair. However, when we asked to move to a larger room the manager moved us to a beautiful suite with a ful-size pull out couch and didn't charge us extra! Our room was very clean and overlooked the Mpls. skyline.. […] we had a wonderful time at the Minnesota Twins game and we were able to walk back to our room after an enjoyable dinner downtown Mpls. The Normandy's location is only a short 3 blocks from light rail (direct airport access) and the restaurants on Marquette and Nicollet Mall Ave. The Normandy staff was very nice and helpful. Although not as luxurious as the "big guys", the rates are much more reasonable, and the rooms were clean. I stayed here in 2009, and was happy to find it just […] as nice in 2013. Mehr

Very helpful staff. The place was clean and a good location. Make sure you request the shuttle if going to the convention center. Quick walk from the Metro Rail and easy to find.

This hotel was a pleasant surprise. It is an older hotel but, very well kept. The staff is friendly. The beds were clean and comfortable. I wish there would have been a refridgerator, though. All in all it was a good deal for the price and we would defenately stay there again!

A small group of friends get together each year for a night in the city. We normally stay at more expensive hotels but found Normandy Inn thru a co-worker. What a great hotel. This is a good value hotel. It is a bit dated, but it is clean and the service is good. It is within walking distance of Nicollet and Hennepin Avenues. The room was clean and we were thankful to have a refrigerator. It was nice to see that our bathroom had been updated relatively recently. The doors/walls seemed rather thin. The rooms were nicely upgraded, but the common areas could use a little sprucing up. There was an overwhelming garlic smell down the main hallway from the restaurant that never seemed to subside. We probably wouldnt stay here again, but overall its not a bad place to stay.

The hotel is older and has an odor throughout the lobby and guest rooms. It appears that access to the hotel and guest room floors is available to anyone, not just hotel room guests which poses a safety concern. The hotel is not connected to the Minneapolis Skyway System which is a disadvantage, especially in cold weather. Loved our 2 room King Suite. It was a nice surprise as they upgraded at no extra cost. We spent more time in our room than planned because it was so confortable. Also had dinner at their restaurant. Bartenders were excellent and took the time to help my husband decide on which kind o beer he wanted. They also made me a special cherry brandy drink. I booked a king room in Nov, at check-in they did not have a king room available. A reservation is to RESERVE your room. We brought our bags to our room which was very warm, so we adjusted the thermostat & headed out. When leaving, the parking attendant was rude & said he couldn't help us. The man at the front desk laughed & said he was supposed to […] give us a pass. We had to pay $7 to park. Our room got hotter so the window had to stay open (in Feb) for our stay. The heat still blew out of the Heat/AC unit. We went to the restaurant & the service was TERRIBLE. We tried to order a beer, twice he came back & told us that they were out of them. Our caesar salads were terrible so we moved our plates off to the side of our table waiting to be picked up but were ignored. The 2 employees were in the kitchen more than in the front serving the few guests. They still did not remove the salads when our main course was brought to us or asked us if they were ok. We used the shuttle bus. When we were 3/4 to our destination, the hotel called telling him to come back & pick up the other guests. We asked the driver for directions & we walked the rest. We tried to coming through the side door & the door wouldn't open. We buzzed to the front desk & It was very difficult to understand him through the speaker, he asked us to see our room key. He finally opened the door. The pizza man was not allowed to come directly to our room. We stayed for 1 night & we had all these issues. Mehr

Overall it was great I gave service a 4 because I felt that my freinds were looked down upon by the front desk on the night shift. BUT when we checked in the front desk was VERY nice and helpfull when we needed it

When booking this hotel I was semi-worried because I saw some poor reviews. I would like to saw that our stay was nothing BUT pleasant! This hotel is really cute! The service of the employees was always friendly and helpful, even when they didn't need to be. They had free milk and cookies at ten at night. The rooms were nice and updated and comfortable. We had a nice time. Beds were comfy. The hotel was fairly quiet. The whirlpool and saunna worked well. Front desk was courteous. Only thing might have been nice would be to see a coffee pot on down in the lobby. The little "one-serving" gizmo in the room was not our favorite. The beds were super comfy. The desk chair and lounge chair w/ottoman made TV watching comfortable. The window covering was very effective for blocking light. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

This is an older motel/hotel that is very well maintained. The location is about one block off the Skyway, so bad weather matters. The neighborhood is just ok and a little industrial. We got there late, but the staff was very helpful in telling us about a couple of great places to eat. The pool was a sweet place to relax with our family before we headed out for the Chinese Warriors' Exhibit at the MIA. The little restaurant downstairs had a fabulous breakfast and great service. Parking was free and convenient!
