"Good location but not an inviting atmosphere"
The hotel is clean and in a great location but the atmosphere is awful. The owners live on site and my room was a couple doors down from them. Their dog was running in the hall. The staff is nosey. I like the fact they have security cameras but they are EVERYWHERE. The cameras have audio which feels like someone is eavesdropping on my hall conversations. […] Creepy. Also, you can not use your room key to get into exterior doors except the front door even though there is a card reader at the door. Very Inconvenient since the room was closer to an exterior door away from the front lobby. I would NOT recommend staying here. I'm an honest law abiding citizen and I still felt paranoid. Terrible feeling. I was away for pleasure and do not want to feel as if my every move is being monitored. I can see why they did not have a lot of guests. Mehr
"Howard Johnson's Appleton, WI"
Chair leg was broken and I fell over onto the floor. At age 65, this really took my breath away. Apparently room had been broken into as the safety chain had been ripped from the frame, leaving a split in the wood. Room smelled musty and there was some kind of matter splashed on the wall.

"Not to clean this time"
The room was not clean this time. This was the second time I stayed here the first was very good but the second time the room was dirty.

I lost a lot of sleep due to the loudness of the air system and how bright the lights of the clocks were. I could only take it again if I were extremely exhausted.

"just ok"
I was a bit taken back because when i got there i found out their policies were not listed on this website. Had they been listed i would have chosen another hotel. We were only allowed visitors until 7:30 p.m., they bathroom was very dirty (toilet and shower were not cleaned) Hot tub only had 1 jet working and pool was dirty also. If you go just for […] a place to sleep, this is it. Also, if you are not a fan of barking dogs, we had one across the hall that barked every noise heard! Mehr
"Clean"
We only needed a place to sleep, really, following the Packer game. This hotel is a bit off the main path, but not too bad. The place looked nice and was clean and very quiet - perfect for what we needed it for. Did I mention it was pretty cheap? I would definitely stay again under similar circumstances.
"Can't beat the price!"
We stayed here for a Packers game and while it is no 5 star hotel, it gets the job done. Not too far from Green Bay, tons of restaurants, shopping, etc. nearby. There was cereal, bagels, and muffins for breakfast, a pool and hot tub to relax. It is not the most pleasant looking, but I would stay there again.

This Hotel was a great deal. it was very nice and clean and it was also just enough outta the way to get a good nights rest and not have to worry about being woke up by passing cars you can hear at others in the area. i wll stay here again next time im in the area.

Nice for a game night stay for the price. Room had a mild odor and wasn't very clean. Found someones fortune cookie wrapper in the sheets. Bed itself was comfortable but the pillows were very thick and caused a neck ache for my son and I.

Great hotel for the price,clean, friendly...not luxurious but that wasn't what we were looking for.will stay again if in the area.

This worked out well for us when attending the Green Bay Packer game. It was very reasonable and staff was helpful and friendly.

was a very clean motel. water wasnt very hot for showers. would recommend this motel. beds were very comfortable.

"Georgia Overdrive @ the Howard Johnson Appleton"
Our stay was great. Was nice to come into town as we were getting ready for a Country Rock show and have a nice place we could relax before the show and then the comfort of the rooms after the show was also very nice... Will stay again when we get back up there.

The people were very nice and helpful. The room was very nice and comfortable. The door was a little tricky to get in, but that was the only problem. I will stay here again and would recommend it to all. Only about 30 to 35 minutes from Green Bay.
The room was great for our one night stay; they held the room til we got there after the football game after 8:30PM. No hot water in the bathroom faucet, but there was in the shower. The room was clean and comfortable. I would stay there again.

"The Howard Johnson Hotel in Appleton"
We recently stayed two nights at the Howard Johnson hotel in Appleton. I was pleased that they accepted pets. However we had issues with our cards to get into our room, both of them didn't work well. I was also disappointed that I couldn't take my dog into the pool area. I can understand not taking him into the actual pool. Otherwise I was quite happy […] with the hotel and would recommend it to others. Mehr
