I was excited to stay at the Blake, but my excited dimmed, then extinguished after a few short hours. Upon arriving in my room, I realized (at a very inopportune moment) that there was no toilet paper in the bathroom! None whatsoever! Hmmm. How does that happen? When I called, a roll of TP was delivered to my room. That night, the air conditioning fan […] was so strong that I had to change beds and build a fortress around me to keep the gale force wind off of my head. Although the beds were comfortable, the down quilts were too HOT. When I asked the next morning for a light blanket and a sheet, I was assured that they would be placed in my room. When I returned at 8:00 that evening, I found a sheet and another comforter!! Another down comforter! Really! I took the duvet cover off the comforter and used it like a blanket. I turned the AC/heat off and managed to get through the night. Also, there were no tissues! When I called, a box of tissues was delivered asap. But I shouldn't have to call for TP or tissues or anything else. I was so happy to check out the next day. My advice for anyone considering this hotel is to "go someplace else"! Mehr

Stayed here on business because it was race week, and the Hilton (where I normally stay in Char.) was 400 bucks a night. Tried to save the company a little money, and this place was a disaster. Fork out the extra money, especially if its company money.

First of all, paying to park at a hotel I just paid to stay at is ridiculous. The reply was, everybody does it. I'm sorry, that doesn't make it right. There was no free wifi, the prices in the restaurant was to high and no continental breakfast. It seems the Blake is trying to keep up with the Jones', but being greedy about it. Will never stay there […] again and will not reccomend anyone stay there. Mehr

Not pleased at all with our stay. The hotel was dirty and had poor workmanship (plaster remnants on carpet and walls,etc.) I loved the decor, but poorly thrown together. The elevator was painly slow. NO coffee in the rooms. It was an old hotel that they tried to dress pretty and it didn't work. Exercise room with no treadmill!

It was a wonderful stay. Chad at the desk made sure we had what we needed to be happy and comfortable. We first had a room with a horrible view and when we asked for another we received one in the north tower and it was wonderful. I've seen alot of reviews about bad customer service and have no idea why we had all our needs addressed quickly with a […] smile.The decor was great. It was however a little noisy at night but remember the hotel is located near city center so you should exept it. Overall it was a great weekend and I will be going back. Mehr

When I arrived, I found my room to be absolutely blazing hot...so, I turned the AC on and went to a nearby restaurant. When I returned, 2 hours later, the room was still unbearable. I called the front desk, who sent someone up and fixed the unit. The second issue was the restaurant being closed down and the other exit being blocked off. the Blake was very busy with a convention while we were there, and we were afraid it would be noisy, but it wasn't at all! the beds were comfy and everything seemed clean. This hotel is not right in the center of all the downtown action, so it isn't great if you want to walk to the Time Warner Arena or other surrounding places. The parking is inconvenient, […] and there isn't quick access to food after the restaurant closes, but the staff is friendly and the decor is interesting and different. Mehr

We waited 30 minutes to check in then get to our room and it is 80 degrees. We took our showers and got ready for a concert. Then it was 85. We went b to the concert and had left the air on. When we returned, it was still 85. We called to the front and they said someone would be up. Noone ever came so we left.

The lobby looked posh and upscale. The room was nice with plenty of space. No coffee pot etc but plenty of toiletries. Pillows were huge and firm. Some noise from neighbors but overall a nice hotel within walking distance of restaurants.

I was satisfied with my stay until I was leaving. The morning of my departure I received a bill for parking. I took it to the counter and asked why I was charged. The gentleman (manager) that I worked with the day before advised that there is a parking fee. I politely said I was never advised of the fee and if I was I would have no problem paying it. […] He replies I tell everyone so I asked if he was calling me a liar he replies no but I tell everyone. He became agitated with me but in the end he didn’t charge me. My advices to management, if you are going to take care of the charge don’t make the customer feel that it is their fault. So in the end you lose a customer and the parking fee.. Mehr

This was a poor choice of hotel to stay - Although it looks as if it was redone you can certainly tell behind the rooms paint splatter, tile grout, = I thought I was at a remote location where no skill workers are to be found. The front area looks great it is the rooms they need to clean up- Service soso not impressed

I booked the superior king room. The last paragraph of the description from the Blake's website says it is a corner room. I have pasted their description: "SUPERIOR KING Room features a King bed, approx. 398 sqft, with down comforters and luxury bedding, modern leather and wood furnishings with floor to ceiling windows offering stunning views of Uptown […] Charlotte. 32- inch flat screen cable TV (including HBO), iPod docking station, coffee maker, and iron / iron board. Designer bathroom with luxury toiletries and hair dryer. Superior rooms are corner rooms and offer more space than the Standard room." They put me in a middle room with a view of a wall. Room 704. I addressed that at the front desk and she had the nerve to tell me 5 times she would upgrade me?!?! She still did not manage a corner room but it had a view of uptown from the 15th floor. The bathroom was small. But my room looked like the banner on the website. Minimal. Cool. Leather headboard and imitation Franz Kline. Cooler than most hotel art. Enjoyed the stay and the view. Mehr

The hotel did not fulfill expectations of a "luxury" hotel. First, the layout and markings of the entrance are poor, making it difficult to find the front lobby if you miss the poorly-marked driveway. Once inside, there was insufficient staff for the number of people waiting to check in. Even though I had booked a King-size bed, they told me there were […] none available and that they would put is in a room with two Queens. The beds were Full-size, not Queen. The bathroom sacrificed function for low-end aesthetics. The rain-style shower produced insufficient water pressure to wash one's hair. The bedclothes were not hypoallergenic. Only one elevator worked for 18 stories of rooms. The building itself was extremely noisy. While the hotel was fine overall, it failed to meet billing as "luxury." Mehr

My only complaint is house keeping was not responsive in a timely manner for towels, soap and etc. calling 3 times one day and never received.

The hotel was nice and clean. Room was tidy. Our overall stay was pleasant. Worst part was the quest to find the main lobby from the parking deck that we paid $13 a night for. No signs from the deck marking the way to the lobby. $7 for a cab to the arena.

I would give it all 5's but we didn't care for the "open" shower stall. It just gets a lot of water on the floor. Also, they could have some snack machines for late night people. They do have some cakes and packaged sandwiches but the wife just wanted some nabs. Also, paying to park at $13.00 seems a little steep. Otherwise, very nice, large rooms, […] 42" flat screen tv and very comfortable beds and comforters. Mehr

I stayed at the Blake mar-2013 and the service was horrible. The hotel ran out of washcloths, the maid didnt clean our room for 3 days and when I complained to front desk, they indicated that nothing could be done because I booked the hotel through hotels.com. This was a horrible experience and I will never stay there again.

We were stuck in the elevator three times in two days, the staff was unprofessional, the kitchen was understaffed and asked guests to wait an hour for food, and they ran out of towels. Worst hotel I've ever stayed in.

PRO: in good part of town clean was good for a last min room find during CIAA the hotel had a party so I didn't really have to go to a club CON: the staff was overwhelmed with all the people for CIAA staff was rude from the front desk to the restaurant hotel ran out of bottle water and ice maintenance had to be called in for elevator, and ice machine […] problems no bath rags in room only big towels no refer in room room don't look like pic online last but NOT least I was sleep the front desk called my room at 0500 am and said they had a complaint that my room was being to loud I told them it must be a mistake cause I was sleep front desk continued to tell me off and told me to quiet down a few min later I heard them at the room that was actually loud and I didn't get an apology! The Blake hotel is by far hands down the worst hotel I have ever stayed in . Please don't let the look of the lobby fool you. This place is run down . You can see this soon as you go into the elevator. I stayed on the 10th floor.. When waiting for a elevator... I had to walk down a floor just to catch it. The hot water did not work in my room. My sink […] somehow stopped up... Called for help and no one came until 6hrs later. No one came to replace my towels and make my bed . Only thing good about the hotel is the bar in the lobby... If you can stay anywhere else in downtown Charlotte please do. Mehr
