Howard Johnson Inn - Bangor - Bangor

No towels in room. No cups for coffee, Hugh dust bunnies under bed, no fridge in one room but a fridge in others. Very loud, a lot of heavy traffic and low flying planes but all hotels in area would have same problem. Lobby very stinky and almost made me leave but room was fine.

the lock was broken on door didnt lock properly.the big thing was no refrig in room i am a dietebic and needed to keep my insulin cold had to keep getting ice very unconventent.

The good thing about this hotel is the price and the fact that it is close to the airport. This hotel stinks!! The rooms that are non-smoking smell terrible. Needs a complete makeover. I would rather pay more and get a cleaner and nicer quality room. Therefore if we fly out of Bangor again, it will be at another hotel.

When we entered the bulding the stairs leading to the second floor were filthy with scattered trash. We needed a shaver...it was terrible. Blade was absolutely dull. They had a toothbrush but no toothpaste. Hallway rugs were dirty and smelled bad.. Bed was okay.

I was very disappointed as I had stayed at Howard Johnsons in New Brunswick, Canada and it was very comfortable. The room was not very clean especially the carpets. there wasn't any shower curtain.

The shower was moldy and the room had a strong smell of cheap carpet cleaner.

Our experience at this motel was horrible: 1. There was a dirty/used air filter left in our room. 2. There were burn holes in the blankets. 3. Our non-smoking room smelled like smoke. 4. The bar fridge didn't work. 5. The bed looked like someone had sleep in it. 6. The door lock was broken and was not repaired even after 2 requests to have it fixed. 7. […] There were no facecloths left on the second day and none at the front desk when we inquired (twice). 8. There was thick dust under the heater/air conditioner and around the perimeter of the room. 9. The toilet was plugged. Mehr

Good value for the price. Convenient location.

The pool, pool area and chairs was in very poor condition, we wanted to take advantage of this service, but it was to dirty to enjoy.

The room smelled strong. It was smell of detergent for linens I guess. There was a fly in the room which was so bothering. Overall, it was ok, but it needs to be improved.

When all other hotels were completely booked, this hotel still had vacancies. There's a reason! There was a cigarette hole in the bedspread; one towel in the bathroom. There were no cots available - alternatively the one staff person had no interest in trying to locate one. The bathroom was designed so that there was a shelf above the toilet. This meant […] however that the toilet seat wouldn't stay up unless you held it (difficult for my little boys to use - i.e. holding up the toilet seat so it won't slam down on them while trying to use the bathroom. The place smelled like spilled alcohol and cigarettes, and the bathtub hadn't been cleaned. In hindsight, our van would have been a better place to have spent the night. Mehr

we called for a pilow, 2 hrs later still no pillow, girl said she could not leave desk alone to go get one, even when we went to the desk. AC not working in room, but they did move us to another Could not get onto interent in morning, only one bar visable.

Just a place to lay your head. To far away from Bar Harbor.

The room was non-smoking, spacious and clean. Access to parking area acceptable. Staff were helpful and courteous, Pricing very reasonable. Wifi worked excellent. I would recommend this hotel to travelers and will most certainly stay again. This was my third visit to this motel.

We were satisfied with our stay other than the fact that we got no sleep. We were up all night listening to a domestic dispute right next door!! The cops were called at 4am and things were quiet after that, until 6am rolled around... We asked the front desk if there was anything they could do to as a courtesy to our bad experience. I booked here because it was the least expensive. The room was not bad, except the bathtub and sink did not drain. We had a non-smoking room, but it was on a corridor with mixed smoking and non-smoking rooms. Going to and from the room meant passing through very stale air.

This cheap hotel is dated with no modern amenities. The rooms were small, unclean with very poor quality TV. The bathroom was passable but mold could be seen in some spots.....I see it gets a two outta five rating often so should have added another $20 and stayed across the street.

It was a 2 star hotel. A place to lay your head down after a day of shopping. It is in a great locale...6 minutes from all shopping amenities. Hotel restaurant was great with good food and reasonable prices.

I have just recently stayed here last week.. came for a Festival and was not very pleased with the Cleanliness of the hotel at all.. There was a huge burn hole in one of the sheets. The comforter was all ratty and gross. There were dirty smears all over the walls. I would not reccommend this hotel.

We were there three nights and the air conditioner unit was broken the entire time. Claimed they couldn't move us to a different room because the hotel was full. Fortunately, it was cool enough outside we were able to make due with the fan the did provide. Swimming pool was dirty and the hallways stink of cigarette smoke. We won't be back.

Room was a smoking room, because one of my party was a smoker. Seems as if there should be an air purifier or some sort of treatment because the room smelled of old smoke. I have been to other motels in a smoking room and could not smell the stale smoke smell. We resolved the problem by going to store and getting small deodorizers. It was in a convenient locatin however the rooms were not very nice. They smelled moldy and and the TV was old. The halls smelled of smoke even though it was a non-smoking section.

There are at least 6 other hotels within walking distance of this one. Pick another. The room smelled of something we never could identify, the room was missing a refrigerator, although the website description says refrigerators in the rooms. Nice, large restaurant. We were the only ones in it for dinner. The bar is the most bizarre I have been to. […] Local crowd, bad music, no pool table, dart board, game tables. Outdoor pool nice, but could use a horseshoe pit, croquet set or something to do on the large grassy area. Mehr

stayed 3 nights and they didnt clean our room even when we got back at 10 pm--went to the desk becasue we had no towels and they passed us towels and said check with manager tomorrow. The manager simlpy said thanks for heads up and walked away.

Hotel was very dirty and water in the shower just trickled out. We went to get pool towels and were told there wasn't any.

This hotel is what you would expect for $83 per night. Decor was outdated, carpets were dirty, beds weren't very comfortable. Outdoor pool was pretty good. Coffee maker in room didn't work. Not too bad though for the price.

We stayed here as a cheap alternative to more expensive places close to Bar Harbor. It's an ok place to just get a few hours of sleep. But, the pillows and bed seem old and used up and the cot we had brought in was definitely not premium quality. Air conditioner vent was not adjustable so it just blew straight into our faces and the shower curtain had […] mold on it. I am not sure if they just didn't have enough help, but the rooms were disgusting. There was a wash rag on the top of my shower head for the entire stay, never was removed. My brother stayed in on of my rooms and there was dried up crusted food stuck on the table, we had to ask for a new room for him & his family. They did come in everyday to service […] it -- gave us new towels, made the bed, vaccumed & changed the trash cans but other than that it was not very clean. The beds were hard and very difficult to get comfortable in. Needless to say I couldn't wait to get in to the comfort of my own bed. That said, the service was great & everyone was extremely nice. **NOTE: The room keys have issues, after 3 days we had to get our room key fixed, someone who works there said the keys are always problems. I booked a suite for 5 people and was told, upon arrival, that there were only two double beds available. The pool area was overgrown with weeds and it was unclear if the pool filter system was working. I've stayed in backpacking hostels in the backwaters of Asia that had more class. Yuck.

The doors were very dirty and sticky, you could tell the cleaning process was very quick. The bathroom tub had a tub mat that was glued to the bottom of the tub, so you can imagine how much bacteria and mold was underneath.The drawers of the dressers smelled like mildew. The bedspread was about 25 yrs. old and was all pilled. It was a non-smoking rm. […] but smelled like cigarettes. The mattress seemed fairly new, so it was comfy. We had breakfast in the am. at the restaurant, the table was so sticky I had a hard time resting my arms on the edge, and the condiment containers were filthy. I would not recommend this hotel. Mehr

Stayed here after a trip to Bar Harbor. Clean, pleasant front desk. Good price. No problems.

I understand that we came in before usually check in time, but figured that if they had a room it must have been one already finished. The room had no shower curtain, beds not changed, one bed had comforter with a stain that looked like blood, no remote control for the tv. The other room they we're going to give us also not yet cleaned. Third room we […] finally got into the counters around the sink were not cleaned, I cleaned them. The room had a sign that it was a non smokining room, but being a non smoker, it smelled like smoke. It seemed as though there was no organization to the way the chambermaids did there job, they seemed to jump from room to room, but never completely finishing before moving to the next room. They carried unfolded laundry to the rooms. I don't know. Staff was very nice and tried to accomodate. Had I been a customer with an attitude, I could've had a field day with complaints, but instead I put up with it, but I will never stay there again. Sorry. Mehr

The hotel and staff made our stay great...we got a great price deal and when we go to Bangor again I would have no problem staying with them again

I really thought that we did recieve good bang for the buck. The hotel staff was very congenial and willing to cater to any needs that we had. Sure, the rugs could have been shampooed and maybe the walls painted, but for our requirements it was very fine. Thought that the beds were comfortable and really like the pillows.......that is one of my criteria. […] Neither of us would hesitate to stay there once again....it was centrally located to all that we sought to do and family that we wanted to visit. I found the room dark and not very clean.The bed was suppossed to be a queen but more like a double.I asked for extra pillows 2 nights but they said they did not have any.I would not stay there again.

Upon arriving at our room we were very disappointed in the condition. The beds looked liked they had been thrown together. The rug had not been cleaned and upon entering the bathroom we made the decision to leave. The bathroom curtain in the shower had mold around the bottom and the tub and floor were not clean by our standards. This was the worst hotel I had ever stayed in. DIRTY. When we checked in, there was hair in the sink and tub. Dirty sheets with burn holes in them. Smelled dirty. Our toilet ran all night and then ended up overflowing and we had to move to another room. Water would not drain in sink and we asked 5 times for towels and did not receive them.
