The hotel parking is a joke - $8 for self park but NO place to park unless you want to drive up 4 floors, then wait for a SLOW elevator to come, ride down to bottom floor, then cross to hotel building wait on another elevator then ride up to your floor. Really nice, clean room and convenient to most attractions. Only complaint.... I paid extra for option to be able to cancel reservation and breakfast was included in room rate. the morning of check-out, there was no FREE breakfast, we had to pay extra for it.

This is my second stay. And it will be my hotel of choice when I travel to HOU on business. Centrally located, near tons of restaurants and a Whole Foods, and right on the freeway(with NONE) of the freeway noise.

Poor or non-existent service in restaurant for breakfast. I was charged for breakfast after I checked out even though I had the hotel complimentary breakfast voucher.

It was my daughter's first time in a hotel (she is 5) and we had a great experience! Check in was easy, they moved us from the 5th to the 14th floor so we could get a better view and validated our parking. Our room was clean and very nice and large. We had the breakfast buffet in the morning, pretty good. The pancakes were cold, but they quickly made […] us fresh ones. Loved the omelet bar and the fruit was perfectly ripe and sweet. Check out was easy! It was too cold for the pool, but the pool looked a little small anyway. All in all, we had a great time and would stay there again next Houston trip! Mehr

We used our privacy please sign on our door since we were out of the room until 10:00 AM working out. When we left the room at 11:00AM we removed the sign as an indication that the room was free to be cleaned. When we returned at 9:00PM that evening the room had not been touched. When I inquired why it hadn't, I was advised by the service person that […] the cleaning staff makes only one pass through each day and would not come back to clean if a room was occupied at such time. I did request a clean set of towels and was supplied with such promptly. Furthermore, it should be moted that when you would take a shower you would be standing in water up to your ankles, since the drain was exceptionally slow. Mehr

FRONT DESK & VALET NOT VERY HELPFUL AT GETTING A CAB.

The worst hotel I have ever stayed in! Found a pill on the floor and a used strip with blood to check diabetis. I did get to change room but the other room was just as bad, housekeeping doesnt bother to clean underneath the beds. :(

My hotel stay was awful, they yell at you when you try to get there attention at the bar while waiting for 30 minutes, then security comes and yells at you some more. Then if you try to talk to them they start threating and talking to you like you are a 12 year old kid. I stayed for 2 nights my room wasn't even cleaned at all close to how it was when […] I arrived. They had to fix the AC three times, the shower was nasty. I will never stay at this Hotel again. We paid for 2 beds for 2 rooms. We received 1 bed in each room. Spoke to the manager and she basically said everybody has problems and they were sold out and there was nothing they could do. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone.

I have been traveling back and forth to Houston for medical test. This was my first time to stay in the Crowne Plaza. At check in the front desk manager was rude. When we got to the floor our room was on it had a gross smell. I called housekeeping and never received the items I requested or got a call back. I will not stay at the Crowne Plaza again […] . Mehr

Good location, great service, nice and confy rooms

I was rudely awakened by loud guests both mornings because the walls were so thin. The housekeeping staff was extremely noisy every morning despite sleeping guests. They were yelling to each other in the halls, slammed doors and rushed me to check out of my room. (It was only 10 am). I would not recommend this place.

I could not believe that the bar closed at 11 on a wednesday night. It was akward sitting in the lounge and drinking especially when we saw other people come in and out. I was lucky to get a free breakfast but the other 10 people in my party did not. The alarm clock was complicated and kept me up all night.

Surprisingly nice place - good value for what the room cost us.

We enjoyed our stay with Crowne Plaza. The rooms are very clean, the staff is friendly, the beds are very comfortable, and we enjoyed the breakfast in the morning!

Accounting staff was amazing. When the front desk incorrectly charged us duplicate amounts the accounting staff was right there to fix the duplication. They even called my bank in order to get the correction posted immediately. What amazing customer service!

We were scared of not having internet access in the Hotel room.

Looked on trip advisor and it was ranked #8 in Houston. Should have more carefully checked hotels.com reviews. Floor/room stunk, got a handicapped room, $8 to park in a dark garage with tiny spots, at the breakfast buffet they ran out of biscuts so they put lightly tosted hamburger buns next to the gravy (that's the same thing right?). When we checked […] in we aksed about directions to another hotel for a conference. There was a man sitting at the counter who offered some directions. The woman behind the coutner (who was very slow) said that the man was a driver in case we needed a ride in the morning. The gentleman informed us that he was not that type of driver, but would be more than happy to drive us around that night if we wanted to do some "late night partying". Will never stay here again. Great location for what we needed, only one small problem, toliet takes forever to fill up after a flush, but that was just a very minor problem. Otherwise it was fantastic.

This hotel is right on the freeway. After a quick check of my 6th floor room I asked for a room not facing the freeway. I was given a room on the 5th floor. The hallway reeked of cigarettes!! My new room did as well. Plus it was facing the freeway! I asked and they moved me back to the 6th floor. Not as smoky but still on the freeway. Congested area - small parking - not the friendliest check in - keys to room did not work, they put the wrong number and no apology given - not able to recommend any restaurants - dark and muggy room - mold in bathroom - very upsetting - I travel alot and know when you get your money worth - this is not it.

Your shuttle service should encompass the Jones Hall.We attended a performance and had a handicapped person and had to wait on cab service at a high cost. Other than that we love the Crown Plaza. Thank you sincerely Kathleen

We arrived and the hotel was pretty cool. However, the shower looked like it needed some work done due to some unfinishing. We were also hit with a parking garage charger of $8.00, and we were asked to prsent a card so that a charge for "incedentals" be charged. I was put in a handicap accessible room and not told by the front desk. The room had no closet, bath tub and was dirty. Poor experience, and they did not move me to another room.

Service was horrible.

we stayed on the 4th floor every door said no smoking, however on our second night the entire floor smelled like weed! I also called in the morning to ask for more towels ( we were 4 people n they only gave us 2towels) the maid service never came with those extra towels

From the moment we drove up to check out we had a terrible experience with the staff at this Crown Plaza. This is not a family friendly hotel. So if you plan to bring children find another place to stay.

we loved this hotel the first time and second was just as good the only thing bad was a not draining shower, but room was just as nice and the block out awesome 3 layers of curtains lets you get an amazing nights sleep :)

I like the location of this hotel. It is centrally located and close to shopping, restaurants and downtown. The staff are friendly and the rooms are clean and comfortable.

In room AC was excellent. Good bedding, comfortable room. Great location. Only real downside was the older tube tv. Otherwise it was an amazing value.

The hotel was nice and in a great location compared to where we were going. The only complaint I have is that when I booked the room I requested adjoining rooms. When we arrived, the clerk said that adjoining rooms may not be available, but checked and told us she did find a couple for us. When we walked into our rooms, though they were next door to […] each other, they were not adjoining. We called down to the front desk and they said they didn't have any more adjoining rooms. When I book a room two weeks in advance with a special request, I feel like they should reserve rooms with the special request. I can see if I had just made the request upon arrival, but not when the request was made in advance. Mehr

Decent hotel, but definitely worn and outdated. The lobby is nice, but that is about it. Apart from the fact that it is close to Lakewood Church, I cannot think of any reason to stay here. I checked out of the Hilton Americas downtown to stay here since I would be attending Lakewood, but certainly wish I had kept my room at the Hilton and commuted to […] the church. Mehr

Hotel was very nice enjoyed the stay. Staff courtious, hotel very clean. The dislikes would be that you could hear the people in the next room talking, the swimming pool was not located to get any sun, pool was very cloudy, I think if you stay at the hotel you should not have to pay for parking. My husband, two children and I stayed here two nights on a trip cross country. The room was clean and comfortable but the parking was very inconvenient and not included in the room price. The parking garage required us to use a separate elevator to the lobby then switch elevators to get to our room. The HS internet kept going down and that was frustrating […] as my husband was working on the trip and could not rely on the internet connection. The staff was friendly and the pool was nice. The inconvenience of parking really would deter me from choosing this hotel again. Mehr

The Crown Plaza Houston River Oaks has a 3 1/2 Star rating. It's a 4 plus. And for a lighter menu, check out their bar. The service and food is awesome.

Due to construction and quirky exits the hotel is a little difficult to get to. The staff was great, The breakfast buffet was very good. I enjoyed the neighborhood on a Saturday morning stroll. We will go back.

We thought this was a great deal and a good location with easy access. My only suggestion would be to provide enough coffee packets in the room for 2 guests. We only got one regular (and one decaf which we didn't use).
