I have stayed at this hotel previously. I did not get a chance to eat breakfast here because of early morning obligations but the breakfast is always very good. The hotel is still being renovated but it is always clean and the employees are kind.

The Clarion was going through some renovation while we were there, so some things weren't as polished as we're used to, but the rooms were comfortable and clean, the staff were very welcoming and helpfu,l and the breakfast was much better than most complimentary breakfasts, including hot items every day. The location was convenient to the freeway and […] downtown Pittsburgh, although there were no restaurants or shops nearby. I booked the hotel on a trip to Pittsburgh to see the Phillies play the Pirates on Opening Weekend. There were some great points as well as disappointing points of the Clarion Hotel. • The hotel staff was very attentive and very detail oriented. We arrived at the hotel 3 hours prior to check-in, and even though our room wasn't ready, the gentleman […] at the front desk made sure we were comfortable in the main lobby and provided us with cold water and a light snack - perfect for having just spent 5 hours in the car. • The biggest disappointment for this booking was that the hotel's bar/grill was not open, nor was it disclosed that it wouldn't be open prior to check-in. Apparently it is only open during their "busy season", whenever that is. This was a huge letdown; having a bar and grill available in the hotel was a major attractant, as coming and going for baseball games leaves you to a unique schedule. It was extremely inconvenient that we had to search for an open restaurant late at night, and being the driver I was limited to non-alcoholic choices since we now had to leave the premises to eat and drink. The bottom line: A great budget hotel for those looking for great personal service and open to eating and drinking off premises. Mehr

Hotel was being renovated, but still good condition for the price, our room however was right behind the elevator and I heard the elevator all nite.

This Hotel served it's purpose. The bed was sleepable, the breakfast was edible and it was close to downtown Pittsburgh. *Chocolate Chip Cookie given at check-in was to die for!

Excellent deal for the location and comfort level. Had a great night's sleep on a very comfortable bed. Convenient to downtown area. Staff was friendly and nice. Free cookies and bottled water upon check-in. Continental breakfast was more like a breakfast buffet.

Very affordable, just 8 minutes away from downtown and breakfast was good!

Under renovation, convenient location, good price, but needs much work.

The hotel is under maintenance and thus the common areas of the hotel are kind of dusty and not so clean. However, the rooms were OK. The hotel was cheap (probably because of maintenance) and well located. Overall, it is good if you are planning to spend only one or two nights there. I would not recommend it for long stay.

During our 2 night stay we were moved to 3 different rooms. One room had an unidentified pill on the floor (thank god one of the children did not ingest it), bugs in the bathroom and dead bugs under the light cover. The TV did only recieved a few channels so we asked to be moved to a new room and found out that TV recieved even fewer channels!After […] returning to our room at 8pm following a day of siteseeing, we found our room was not cleaned. Thus we were moved a third time. THe staff was somewhat unprofessional and seemed to be overwhelmed by various problems, some seemed to be beyond their control. They did try to rectify our problem by signing us up for some kind of point program but when we asked about it they could not explain anything and the woman indicated she knew nothing about it. I had booked the hotel because it was purportedly central to Pittsburgh. What was not clear though was that it was near NOTHING (fast food, restaurants, pharmacy, etc). I was (mis)directed by the front desk and drove 6 miles to get to a Wendy's and CVS. Really? With one exception I found the evening to night staff to be curt and uninterested in helping […] me or others. Also not included in any reviews was that the hotel was undergoing a renovation and looked old and tired. The restaurant and bar were closed as part of the renovation. In my room I had a tub that continued to slow down on the draining throughout my stay and was never fixed. The last night I arrived back at the room and found standing water in the tub with chunks of refuse that were NOT from shower water. Maintenance couldn't fix it so the front desk sent a key for another room for me to shower in. The best part? The SINK in the new room wasn't draining! NEVER AGAIN! Mehr

I went to Pittsburgh for a concert and needed a hotel to stay at with parking within a certain distance to the city so I could take a cab. This is just a quick hotel to get. Not very friendly people. Room cleaning people banging on doors at 9am. I found a condom wrapper by my bed. TV was very fuzzy. Bad internet, and a bad location for Verizon Cellphone […] users. Sheets had coffee stains on them, but were comfortable. It's just one of those hotels that is cheap and good for a night stay. Mehr

This hotel is very conviently located in the Foster Plaza area/complex of Greentree. There are many different places to eat, gas stations, pharmacy etc. all within a 10 to 15 minute drive or less. From this location you can venture into downtown Pittsburgh or outlying areas, for the many different venues, entertainment, sporting events,musuem etc. Getting […] on and off the major highways or other roadways is very easy and convient from this location. Either to downtown Pittsburgh or the Pittsburgh Inter. airport. is only a 10 -20 min drive depending on traffic or other road conditions. The hotel staff were very professional, polite and courteous.They quickly helped me with any requests or questions that I had. The rooms were very clean and also the bathroom, which was checked over very carefully. They quickly replaced any and all towels,soap,coffee etc. daily. A provided coffe maker in the room was very nice to have and the coffee (in packets) was replaced daily, when used. A mini Fridge was provided, HOWEVER there was no microwave in the room. To use a microwave, you had to go downstairs to the dining area and use that one. Keep this in mind if you intend to use or plan to microwave your dinner, popcorn etc. This is the one negative that I had regarding the hotel /room. The provided continental breakfast was decent - not 5 star quality but still had a good overall selection of the basic breakfast fare. Eggs,bacon, sausage,Belgium waffles, bagels, fruit, yogart, cereal & coffet,tea, jucies, milk etc. Once again the staff in the dinning area were very helpful or accomidating with any requests we had. The free WI- FI worked well and I had a strong signal at least 3 bars at all times, throughout the day or night. TV provided had the basic cable channels, offerings or shows, that most of us watch or are familair with. Nice stay there but it was only for one night. The continental breakfast was nice. The bed is not comfortable.

Stayed here while in town for a job interview, pretty simple commute downtown (although surprising amount of mid-day traffic made the 10 minute drive take 30)... decent room, nice TV and good free wireless internet... only issue was my sink sometimes had no hot water, and other times it was insanely hot.

Call the taxi 3 hrs before...Seriously!!

I flew all the way from Seattle to Pittsburgh and went to stay for 2 days @Clarion Hotel,really enjoy my stay,appreciate the services and hospitality,especially the free breakfasts.

We had two adjoining rooms to celebrate my daughters 18th birthday in Pittsburgh. In the morning there was no hot water to shower. When we checked out, we asked for some sort of accommodation and they were unable to give anything to us because we had reserved the room under Hotel.com. The rooms were really nice, the breakfast was good except for the […] scrambled "powdered" eggs. Everything else was good. It's sad that I can't give them a better rating because of the hot water issue. When I called Hotels.com they were unable to confirm my story because the hotel did not register my complaint. The room was clean and neat. Breakfast was great. I was within walking distance of a friends home.

The hotel staff was very helpful and pleasant. The hotel seemed to be in the midst of a renovation, however it looked like it had been for some time. Overall the price was fair and the room was clean and quiet.

I choose this hotel based on the location to Heinz Field. When we first arrived in our room the bed wasn't made and it was broke. The toilet wasn't cleaned from the previous person. We called down to the front desk and someone came up and agreed with us. She was going to get us a new room. She never came back with key cards. My son had to go down for […] them, "she got busy". We moved to a new room which was much better. But when we left for the Steelers game the door piece broke and we had to tell them about that. They also didn't know anything about Pittsburgh!!!!! We wanted to go to the bar on Friday night but the front desk didn't know if they were going to be open or not. Well they finally opened and the bar tender was very nice and very helpful with the locations around Pittsburgh. He should move to the front desk where they could use him. They didn't serve any food so we had to order out. Little strange for a hotel that offers a restaurant. I would defiantly not recommend this hotel until all of the renovations are complete. Mehr

everything wa fine , but for the bath tub , could not take a shower

Condition of the room was well worn and in need of reconditioning. Minimal TV channels with no HBO as advertised. Found dead roach in bathroom. Room was poorly serviced by room service. However; very reasonable, comparably speaking and good location in relation to downtown Pittsburgh and surrounding communities. Computer center was lacking with no virus […] protection with computer. Hotel was cluttered, being remodeled, had no resturant open at night (only open during the morning!), no vending machines that worked, no ice machines, and no nearby resturants. I will never return to this hotel. It was nothing but a mistake from the start. We were going to see the Pittsburgh Steelers game in October. We drove for 6 hours from Belleville, NJ. Once we got there we went to check i. They found our reservation and everything was all set. Then they told us that we had to put out an extra $100 for security purposes […] which we were not old prior to our arrival. We didn't bring credit cards with us, just cash since we were only staying the one day for the game. They told us that was fine that we could pay cash but we would not receive it back until the following week. I'm sorry but that is insane. If the hotel isn't waiting a week to check the room, then why should I have to wait to get my money back. I was very upset about this and the women who worked the front desk knew that. They told me we could either pay it in cash and speak to a manager if we like or find a new hotel. Of course we had no choice but to pay the cash because no other hotels would be available the Saturday before a big game. I asked to speak to a manager and they said she was in her office around the corner but she wasn't. We went upstairs to our room and got settled in. Then we left to go to see the stadium and take a look around town. We came back hours later with food to have in the room.I asked again to speak to a manager and they said she was gone already and no other manager would be on until Monday. If the girl would have said that the manager was leaving early then I would have made sure I saw her before she left. I don't understand how there would be no manager on at all for the rest of the weekend. So now I go up to our room and neither one of the keys work. I hads to come back downstairs and they had to fix it. Yet again, I was not pleased. I called the downstairs around 11pm and asked for a wake up call the next morning at a specific time seeing as how the alarm clock didn't work that was in our room. hotel was under construction but still had a comfortable stay. liked the fact that it was not in downtown pittsburgh and away from all the traffic. i was there on a business trip - would definitely go back.

I understand the hotel was under renovation, which wasn't a problem. What was the problem was when I went to take a shower in the morning; I noticed that the shower walls were filthy. It had dirt smudges on the wall along with soap film. I know that it hadn't been cleaned because the chrome was dull and nasty looking. This was a lesson learned...next […] time I check into any hotel, I will check out the room thoroughly before I settle in. I said in the review I would recommend this hotel to others, but that 's with hesitation. Maybe it's time to get a new housekeeping staff. Mehr

The hotel was under renovation but that was no excuse for our room being filthy. It had not been vacuumed, paint all over the furniture...just a mess. The staff moved our room after we complain. We asked for extra blankets and they called our room to tel us they were too busy we would have to come get them. The elevator frequently did not work. The […] overnight front desk person was too busy eating in the breakfast resturant to help guests. It was an overall horribe stay and clearly will never recommend it to anyone. Mehr

This hotel was under heavy renovations - unfortunately you couldn't tell what areas were completed and what areas were being worked on. Pictures on walls were warped and crooked, vending machines did not work (you have to go to the 2nd floor if you want ice, 3rd floor if you want drinks, 1st floor if you want ice). The elevators looked and felt as if […] they would snap off the cables any second, one elevator had a huge hole in the wall. Rugs and furniture throughout the room were stained. Every time someone in an adjacent room would flush their toilet or run their shower, you would hear the plumbing in your room. As the title says, the only good thing about this hotel was that it is a 10 minute car ride to Heinz Field, and that was the purpose of our trip. They are undergoing maintenance - which is fine. Our problem was we had checkin on Sunday (the day of a Steelers game) and they had 1 woman at the desk - that was it. She couldn't handle that many people coming into check in at one time. The lounge opened late because the bartender was late....hello its football Sunday - 90% of you or guests were there […] for the 8pm game. If that lounge was open they would've made $$$$$. Mehr
