Placed in a smoking room, when I had requested non. Moved to another room...this room smelled like death. Hotel had no other comparable rooms available. She sent their "ozone man" to our room to spray it down while we vacated it. The smell lingered, resulting in a horrible night's stay. It's a La Quinta; I did not expect a 5-star experience, but I DID need a clean, safe, pet-friendly hotel for one night. The La Quinta, Hattiesburg, was a perfect fit. The room was clean and convenient to parking for transfer of my animals. The grounds were reasonably lit and tidy. But the staff deserve special mention... The staff was outstanding... […] friendly, prompt, professional, and helpful. All of my questions were answered promptly and accurately. I had brought leftovers for dinner and they provided plasti-ware for me to use. I asked for a receipt and they explained exactly what to expect (since it was a Hotels.com booking). Breakfast was varied and hot; my bagel even tasted reasonably fresh. Most impressive was their handling of my pet situation. I had a 9am meeting, and intended to check out on my way out the door. But, one of my pets vanished on me. I've had pets hide before, and I know their hiding spots... but, though I tore the room apart, I could not find him. Out of time, I went to the front desk and explained the situation... I had to leave, and I might not be back until after the checkout time... but WOULD be back to find my pet. They kindly asked for his description (physical as well as temperament), asked permission to enter the room, and asked permission, too, for one of their staff to handle the animal if they found him. They told me they would waive the late check-out fee if it proved necessary. Their professionalism allowed me to go to my meeting with a surprising sense of calm. About 20 minutes later, I received a voicemail from the Inn, telling me they had found my terrified animal INSIDE the recliner (a place I had searched without success). He had been wedged along the outer wall of the chair, among the mechanics of the lever-action footrest. He was safely extracted, and taken to an office to await my return. Again, on pick-up, I found the staff to be courteous, kind, and professional with me AND my animal. They redefined "pet friendly" fo Mehr

I stayed here for four nights. The rooms were cleaned really well each day. Has a great location off the main highway. Room service is fast and the staff were very friendly. I would stay here again.

My wife and I along with our two 4 legged children make a trip to Florida annually. The La Quinta is our must stay-over on our trip from Missouri. The rooms are extremely clean and comfortable. The staff is most courteous and helpful and most importantly they allow our two dogs with no trouble or misgivings. I have a problem with my legs so stairs […] can be a problem at times. Rebecca moved our second floor room to a first floor accommodation with a patio at the parking lot. She also called our room several minutes after we checked in to see iff all was well with us. This hotel will be our regular stop on our trips to Florida because of its outstanding cleanliness and friendly and outgoing staff. Thank you for making out overnight stays so enjoyable. Mehr

nice to stay in the hotel..but need some update in bathroom....

hotel was beyond awful. AC was broken in first room, switched rooms, AC was also broken. Room was filthy .. Feared for safety of my family with loud loitering male guests in the halls ..HOWEVER, With HOTELS.COM excellent customer service, we were able to check out and move to another hotel two blocks away which was very nice, clean, comfortable and […] safe for a $5 addt'l fee. The room was clean and quiet. There were minor incoveniences which the staff responded to promptly. Microwave, refrigerator and coffee pot were stacked on the floor--very cumbersome to use and not sure why they were arranged that way. We had trouble several times getting our keys to work, but I would stay at this hotel again because it's a great location […] and a good value. Mehr

I had booked this hotel b/c of the price and location, then read the reviews. I was really not expecting the best experience based on so many bad reviews of uncleanliness within the rooms. First of yes, the hotel is older and that is why the price was lower compared to the newer ones at the exit before (northbound I-59). I went straight in and investigated […] for anything that would not be clean. But I found nothing! Yes the room was a little older but nothing that was not safe and everything was clean. Bathroom, sheets, within the furniture, and behind it ( I was looking for the mice from other reviews). We had our two small dogs with us and the fact that there were sliding exterior doors that led to the grass was very convenient, and yes that door secured tightly in our room at least. The bed was comfy and clean and they brought us a crib for our toddler and that was clean too. Overall it was a good stay for our one night stay for out drive through on the way to TN. Again the hotel is older but it was maintained well in our opinion. Mehr

Very unsatisfied...upon arrival to slumber in room, keys did not work, after receiving new keys...they still did not work...next day, bed was not made...no new towels, and when I brought my grievances to the staff, I did not feel they were concerned, as they did not give me a free night...I instead received half off to a new room with a door lock that […] was about to tear off as I could see the screw barely hanging on...I didn't bother the staff as I didn't think they could handle my request appropriately ...they hadn't done to well at that point..again. Very nice older hotel. Clean and comfortable. The hotel staff were extremely nice. Breakfast and Wi-fi included. Would stay again.

Hotel next door in not operational, mouse and mice must be coming over to this hotel causing issue. Crew staying there for 3 night saw mice the last night in the room.

Stayed at this hotel from October 13-15, 2011. Had a room (#138) with a King sized bed. When we arrived, the room was ready. however, I found an old cookie wrapper behind one of the night stands. Outlet cover on wall under desk was broken. Bathroom wasn't very clean...there were hairs and some debris in the tub. Toilet paper holder had been broken […] at some point, and looked like it was glued back together by a 5 year old. Tub leaked onto the floor. Hotel claimed to have free wi-fi in the rooms, but neither my tablet nor my android phone could connect to it. Just kept trying to get an IP address, and failing. They both worked everywhere else. The bed was hard as a rock. Friends of ours stayed in the same hotel, but had a room with two double-beds. Those beds were actually nice and comfortable. And the room was bigger. Yet, for some reason cheaper. Very odd pricing. Not the worst hotel I've ever stayed in, but I'd not suggest this hotel to anyone. I will not stay there again. Mehr

The hallways smelled musty and strong air fresheners were used to almost cover up the smell... the counter top was too wide and prevented the toilet seat from being raised all the way up and it had to be held in place to be used. There are no vents in the bathrooms, so the rooms smell musty. The first room smelled of urine, but they promptly changed it out for a room that just smelled like a basement.

This was the most comfortable hotel mattress I've experienced in quite a while. Breakfast was also very nice.

This is a tired facilty in need of updating. Customer service was poor as well. On two occassions I contacted the front desk to have an issue resolved. For both attempts my requests were ignored.

I arrived in town for business. Checked in the room and it looked nice. I have stayed here before. I started unpacking and could hear something "squeak" I didn't think anything else about it and ordered pizza. When I sat down to eat I heard the noise again. I finally pinpointed the sound to be coming from the dresser. I looked behind and a little brown […] mouse was on a glue board trap. This is the grossest experience I've had at a hotel. I've stayed some sketch places before, but I will definitely NOT stay here again. If they have problems with mice they should check the room before someone stays in it. Mehr

When we arrived, the clerk had a security guard check our room because they had so many complaints about the rooms that night. The security doors didn't lock. The next morning our shower only had a trickle of water, none of us could shower. When we told the manager, he told us we could go to another room and shower and HE WOULDN'T EVEN CHARGE US FOR […] THAT ROOM, big of him huh? We will never go back. Scary place. Mehr

We visited Hattiesburg, Miss. to see our grandson before deployment from Camp Shelby. The hotel staff was very friendly and accomadating. We had 2 rooms booked and they were both clean, the only problem we had was an uninvited guest every night that came in under the door, a mouse. We called the front desk and reported the little critter. We couldn't […] move to another hotel because they were all booked, but I would have thought the hotel would have given us some sort of partial refund, but didn't. We ended up putting towels at the bottom of the door at night so the mouse couldn't get in. The motel is pet friendly and I like that even though I didn't take mine and I would stay there again if they would get rid of that mouse. Mehr

We checked in late in the evening and the hotel was completely booked. we had trouble locating our room and when we got in, the security latch was broken and they could not move us to another room. In the morning there was no hot water and they had laid out RAT traps around the back stairs where we had to enter to get to our room.

The hotel is a very long structure. My room was located farthest from the reception desk. There was an exit right outside my door that could be operated by my key, yet I was not told that. So I dragged bags for what seemed like miles from the closest entrance to my room. I did use the door near my room afterwards. There were 3 of us in a room with only […] 2 towel settings. It took 2 requests to get the extra towel service. A great continental breakfast with an eager staff. Fair deal for the price. Clean hotel. Wonderful staff that was eager to please. There was NO breakfast. The website said there was but in the morning, I asked where breakfast was and they replied with.."sorry no breakfast served here"

We did not have enough towels and we got more from the front desk they were damp. Our room wasn't cool when we got there and it took forever for it to cool. We didn't have any shampoo in the bath room and not enough toilet paper

First impression of the hotel was not bad....first impression of outside and lobby was nice and clean. However once inside the room was a whole other story. It was what I would call surface clean, like it when I tell my 7 year old to clean something up and I need to go behind her to clean it right, except no one went behind them to clean it right! There […] was a HUGE bug crawling on the wall, bathroom was gross, I checked for bed bugs because there was no telling what was in this place...no bed bugs, but the mattress were old stained and sick. Outside the sliding glass door patio were weeds growing taller than me. I couldn't sleep worried another big bug would crawl into the bed. When we first arrived my son thought I was being picky but by the morning he completely agreed, this place was not even worth the price. There was another hotel guest straggering in the hallway who had too much to drink who was blocking access to the door to my room. After this experience there was no way we were going to go to the lobby for the breakfast..I had a 7 hour drive home and who knows what that would have been like! I have to visit Hattiesburg in the near future (multiple times over the next year) and there is no way I will stay here again. Mehr

My stay was good....just had problem with getting towels seems they were short on them and the a/c unit wasn't the best.

This was my first time at any laquinta. I will definately be back. The hotel was beautiful, and the breakfast was incredible. My only complaint would be that the safety latch in my room was broken, but the deadbolt worked. Looking forward to many more stays.

Where should I start? How about a list? 1. Reserved a non-smoking got smoking-hallway smelled like a bar! 2. Old shampoo and soap left in room. 3. Temp set on 68 but seemed didn't reach 75-ever! 4. Room forever away and room difficult to find. 5. Waffle maker didn't work or out of batter. 6. Pool walkway had cracks and small missing sections-my 4yr […] old daughter tripped and marked up bottom. 7. Bottom of pool not smooth. 8. Cig butts left out under pavilion-the only shaded area had 1 table. 9. No lotion provided to counteract the overly drying soap. 10. Shower was little warmer than lukewarm. 11. Not much variety at breakfast. If you need a pet friendly hotel that's cheap and not kept up-this one is for you! Mehr

Nice room and good breakfast. I could not get the wireless internet to work and calls to the front desk about the situation were fruitless.

Have stayed here before and had better experience in the past. Room/bathroom was not as clean as it should have been. There was hair in the sink from where someone had recently shaved and the room had a strange odor. The staff was friendly and breakfast was very good.

The hotel service was great. But the whole hotel smelt like a smoke, even in the non smoking rooms. Also, the whole area surrounding the hotel was very sketchy.

The room was clean, perfect for what we needed. The only problem I had was that when I got there to check in, the service person said if I came back in an hour, he would get us a downstairs room. We left and got something to eat, when we returned, that person was gone and the new person knew nothing about it, so we had to get an upstairs room. This […] hotel does not have an elevator. Mehr

this was my second stay at this hotel and both times were very nice and I would stay again. The hotel manager and staff were very helpful. This hotel is close to all freeways and easy to get to. I would suggest to people visiting Hattiesburg to dine at the Farmers Market which is a short walk from the hotel.

A/C was a bit noisy when it came on but not bad. It cooled just fine. Bed was a little soft for me but other than that it was fine. Everything else was real good. Staff was friendly and I would stay again next time I needed a room. Thanks

Is it too much to ask that there be sufficient toilet paper and Kleenex? That the night stand lights be plugged in?

We were very pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the LaQuinta Inn in Hattiesburg - it was rated only 2 1/2 stars, but we needed a pet friendly hotel. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful and offered up some great eateries in the area. The room was nicer than some we have stayed in that cost much more. The breakfast (free by the way) was […] very nice - again nicer than in some more expensive hotels. Everyone was very nice and helpful - we required a refrigerator and first floor room, both of which they provided. I recommend the La Quinta and plan to stay at this one again on future trips through the area. We travel a lot and Hattiesburg is on our route, so the plan to stay is not an empty one. Check out your star rating - La Quinta in Hattiesburg deserves better. Mehr
