Clarion Hotel Sports Complex - Kansas City

Had to wait 15 minutes to check in because the attendant kept assisting people who called in while I was waiting. The attendant was not very friendly. A used towel was left in the bathroom of our room and the tub had shampoo residue. The indoor pool was very nice, however.

This hotel has old furnishings that need to be replaced. The tv was old. Sofa was old and had a stain on it and the carpet looked as if it needed a severe cleaning. I would not pay regular price for this hotel unless you are going to something at Arrowhead. It's directly across the street. I stayed two nights and was not happy with the cleaning crew […] because they did not clean, just changed bedding and gave new towels. Also, there was a dead spider in the picture on the wall. They need to get rid of the picture or something. Mehr

I was overcharged and the hotel didnt really look all that nice to have such a high price.

Excellent value, clean and quiet

I was happy with the services and cleanliness for the price I paid. I was very concerned with security. My room key lost its code. I went to the front desk and they just asked what room and reprogrammed without asking for any proof of who I was. I thought that was odd but figured it was just a mistake. The next morning when I checked out another customer […] came to the front desk and the same thing happened again. I asked if that was normal and the front desk person seemed to get defensive. I expressed my concern but they didn't seem to agree this was a problem. Mehr

The hotel is in a kind of weird location. It is right across the street from the KC stadiums with nothing much around it. However, it was right next to Hwy 70 so it was very convenient to downtown and surrounding sites, especially the zoo and museums. We had a little bit of an issue with our room being cleaned the first day we were there, however, when […] I talked to the front desk, they were very apologetic for the mishap. The room was triple cleaned the next day. The front desk persennel were excellent and very friendly. I am already planning a second visit to KC and plan to stay at the Clarion again. Would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a very reasonably priced hotel. Mehr

My husband and I 8oth enjoyed ourselves at the Hotel during our stay, however we didn't like the fact that the Jacuzzi was non existent! We prepared ourselves for relaxation for the weekend, so we headed down to the pool area, only to find, nothing but a pool and a large concrete 8locc that looked as though the jacuzzi would be "Coming Soon". Being in close proxsimity to a couple of major sports complexes, one would think overall condition of the facility would be better. Nowhere could we find front desk help on two occasions, advertised exercise equiptment didn't work, advertised hot-tub was filled in with concrete. Think I'll look a little longer next visit to KC

Too many problems. I wouldn't have taken the time to write anything about this place if maybe one or two things were wrong, but wow. The first thing was the door to my room, the key wouldn't open the door. I had to pull it and push it, wiggle the handle, while inserting the key just to get in...every time! The phone in the room didn't work. The sliding […] glass door to the balcony had no handle. The view was horrible. If you like to watch T.V. your in for a rude night. The old 25 inch Zenith was a surprise in itself, but so was the few channels and the scrambling of them on their own. Several times I would call to the desk, using my cell, and it would ring and ring. For two nights I noticed the reason was these employees take off. Two nights in a row all you could smell was marijuana in the hallway, one night in the main lobby. I don't care if people smoke pot but you could do it off the balcony not the hallways, my grandchildren were also staying there. If you would like a midnight glass of beer, forget it, they close by 10 or 11 pm. However the food was good. Mehr

Hotel was great for the offseason price. The restaurant was very nice and the bartenders were very helpful. Front desk people were very unprofesional and mostly stayed in a backroom doing who knows what.

Stayed at hotel for three days, overall was a good stay however a car is a must. The only place close by was Taco Bell. Dennys was near by as well however no side walks to get there. If staying for a game this hotel would be the ideal spot. Room was ok, the hallways was not maintained but don't get caught up in the looks of the hall, the room was clean […] and room service was ok. Parking was a problem on Friday and Saturday night. If a game is going on it could be a problem for those staying at the hotel. Mehr

We enjoyed our stay especially after a night on the town and in need of some peaceful sleep. The king sized bed and room was very clean and comfortable.

I stayed in this hotel during my first week of orientation at my new job to make the commute shorter. The hotel was comfortable and quiet. The only problems I had at this hotel was mainly the internet. There is free wireless internet but everyday when I returned from work I would have to re-accept the terms and conditions even though I had been using […] the internet on both my phone and laptop for at least an hour. This was mainly a frustration because the internet would become sluggish and pages would not load then the page would come up to accept the terms and you would have to re-enter the address of the website you were on as it would not allow you to use the back button. My second problem was that the toilet would begin to leak if it was being used for more than a few minutes and get my feet wet. Also, there is no complimentary breakfast which would have been very nice. Other than that I found that the hotel was very comfortable and met my needs. Mehr

The hotel had roaches an I had to stand n da hallway to get housekeeping. So far both hotels I have booked through Hotels.com have been subpar. Would not.stay there again an certainly would not recommend to anyone.

only problem we had at the hotel was hot water. it was not very hot. other then that it was a real nice place

I really enjoyed this hotel! I'm sure it is very busy (as well as expensive) during sporting events, but during off seasons, it becomes just a regular hotel again. This hotel was really comfortable. The hotel itself, while not in the city, was convenient to the freeways and I didn't mind the location. However, the accommodations were not good. The elevator was broken, our room light was out, the Tv didn't get a clear picture, there was no hot water for showers in the morning, and, last on the grievance list, our bathroom towels had some gross staining. […] There was a good sized pool, not the best maintained ever- but usuable. The hot tub looked worn, but clean. However, it may have had a filter issue. There was strange scum when the jets ran. We had to call up for towels and it was a little messy (discarded towels, some empty cups). Overall, disappointing and not even worth the inexpensive price. Mostly a great place to stay for a football game, location is about as close as you could get to the stadium. Only complaint was that we had no lighting in the bathroom during the night because of a fuse or breaker tripping.

There are only two reasons to stay at this hotel: 1) You have Chiefs or Royals tickets, and 2) you need a cheap quality place to stay. I was #2, I was in town for the National Fencing tournament in KC, but because of my event spread I had to stay 4 nights in town. Unfortunately, I am back in college and could not afford to plop down $400 min to stay […] downtown. The Clarion offered an awesome room (and free upgrade) for an insane price - I just had to forgo the downtown or any kind of nightlife. The neighborhood is surprisingly rural residential for a sports complex, but that's Missouri. Mehr

The rating could have been higher if it were not for the fact that I didn't get maid service on one day out of my 4 night stay. The front desk employee I told just seemed to dismiss it as a fluke and wasn't at all apolgetic. Overall the hotel was very nice and very inexpensive......a good value.

I came in town for a conference hosted by IHOP (International House of Prayer). Every year they host a conference called "One Thing" and well this year, I was on a budget and needed to find a place in Kansas City that was affordable AND decent at the same time. This place was great in almost every way possible! As far as the room condition & maintenance, […] I had no complaints. The housekeeper who cleaned my room daily did a great job too. The only downside is that its a bit outside of the city and public transportation stops running at 10pm in the area (which was an issue for me because the conference I was attending didnt end until 11pm each night). If you rent a car/bring a car, I definitely recommend this place but if youre relying on public transportation while youre here, I dont recommend staying here (unless of course, your just coming for the chiefs football game). Overall, I loved this hotel for the most part! Mehr

Location of hotel was great only complaint is person who checked us in was very rude. I changed reservations and asked that our rooms not be ajoining with the other couple we were with the rooms hadn't gotten changed correctly when I asked for her to move one of the rooms her response if u want a wall lock ur side. Ugh!

killer location bachelor pad 4 sure just the fellas on this type of place older building needs a lot of tlc you can drink beers and look right into the 2 stadiums save yourself 28 bux parking and just walk 20 minutes down to the gate not a better choice in town for a royals/chiefs outing with the boys your old lady will crab if u take her not for the […] hilton crowd ohh and call for i 70 access mapquest is wrong blue ridge cut off exit was moved Mehr

This hotel was great! Although many sports fans were there ahead of checkin time (4pm) the staff made them feel most welcome dispite the chaos and excitement of the upcoming Chiefs/Steelers game. Ushered into a lounge where food & drink were readily available waiting for our names to be called for a room. We actually got our room around 2:30 - it was […] GREAT! Huge king size bed and LOVE THOSE PILLOWS!!! Clean and well stocked - will definitely stay here again when Steelers come to town. Although we were just 60 yards from the stadium and that took us 10 minutes to get into "tailgating land", afterwards cars are ushered out the west end and around through Raytown - thank goodness we had a GPS - it took us about 1-2 hrs to get back to the hotel due to traffic patterns - but it was easily accessible, right off I-70. WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE CLARION!!! Mehr

Place in general just a bit run down....also there were not two queen beds in the room, but two full size! Pretty little for two people. Nice staff and good location. Came in at 2:00 am and our hotel room smelled of pot from the neighbors next to us.

We visited Kansas City for the 1st time. Our stay at the Clarion went very well. The room was clean, everyone was very nice. Kudos to the staff. My only suggestion would be a shuttle to the downtown area, but I understand why you don't. It would be a plus. Your location right across from the Stadiums makes it likely we will return there soon.

The staff was WONDERFUL!!!! But the carpet in the rooms were stained real bad, the pool area could use updating. The whole hotel was dark and dreary. The restaurant in the hotel was nicely decorated in the sports theme but the prices were outragous!!!!

Hotel met our needs as we were attending a Royals Baseball game and the hotel is directly across the street. Easy walking.. The room was comfortable and quiet

Missing parts of coffee maker and sink drain. No plastic laundry bag. Entrance lock difficult to open.

It is not the most up to date place. But the beds were comfy and it is not a bad price for being right across the street from kauffman stadium.

We booked this room the night before when we knew we would be driving through Kansas City and could catch the Royals hosting the Boston Red Sox, where our cousin was playing his first Major League Game. The location was perfect, right across the road from the stadium (Royals and Chiefs are side-by-side) and we were very comfortable. We grabbed breakfast […] early the next morning at the reasonably priced buffet and headed back out on the road. Overall this was a perfect solution to our situation, with the staff friendly and courteous, even though we were rooting for the visiting team! And the price was very reasonable, even though we booked the day before. Mehr

I would recommend this hotel to my friends but not between the months of May and Sept. if you're staying on the sixth floor. The entire floor suffered while staying there. I talked to other guest so I know. Our room was roasting the entire weekend we stayed. The AC couldn't keep up. When we asked for a fan they had none. They couldn't change our room […] because there were none. After the first night we went out and bought a fan but it helped little all night. We were offered a free breakfast one morning which was nice but it was just too hot to stay there in the summer. Nice place though and very close to the ballpark. I'll stay again but either early Spring or Fall. Mehr

The front desk and staff were excellent, room was excellent.Great to stay and see a ball game. I would definitley recommend to everyone traveling through.

Upon checking in the elevator was broken down and, after everything was said and done, my room was on the 5th floor. Not sure where the ball was dropped here but when I booked my hotel via hotels.com, I specifically asked for an Executive Suite which includes microwave and refrigerator. The room that I was sent to was not an Executive Suite. I contacted […] the front desk and the lady was able to get me into an Executive Suite, only because one was available. I would stay here again, however I would look at other options first. Mehr

we stayed for one night and the room wasa clean and comfortable. we walked to the Royals game which was quick and easy. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. I would stay here again!

This property was OK. My big complaint is, I added an extra day and they failed to clean my room. When I asked them to clean it, I was told the crew was gone for the day. I don't like coming back to a room that look messy.
