Holiday Inn Akron West - Akron

Hotel was overbooked - booked 2 queen beds - had to accept queen and rollaway bed. An event being held at the hotel took all of the parking - after returning from dinner we had to park at an adjacent hotel overnight (this is ridiculous). Shower went from warm to scalding intermittently. Marijuana smell in stairwells...... ugh - We had our entire girls […] youth lacrosse team (20 x 12-13 yr old girls) - we definitely didnt feel safe. Our team plays at a tournament in Medina annually. Needless to say our team will make it a tradition to avoid this hotel! Mehr

not happy at. all was told the hotel hD frige and microwave . I would have to double beds . Thing only thing that i recieved from the room that I had asked for was nonsmoking. The employees were very helpful , but still not happy.

The sidewalk leading in to the hotel was uneven and broken. The glass on the outside door was dirty, as was the carpet in the entrance, hallways and lobby. The room looked clean. Though the hotel could use some renovating, everyone that I came in contact with, on a very hot day, could not have been more accomodating, courteous and helpful.

The room was cleaned only one time in our three day stay. This cleaning only occurred after frequent requests by me. Absolutely horrendous housekeeping situation. This leads me to believe that upper management is sorely lacking at this facility. This is my first negative review in over forty years in staying in hotels.

I have asthma and they gave me a smoking room and said there was nothing they could do even with a medical condition. The room reached of smoke and I almost slept in the lobby. I left as soon as I woke up and would make sure I had everything I needed to not return to sleep.

When I first arrived, I simply walked up to ask if there were any vacancies. The front desk cleark said No, without apology. I went to the parking lot, got online to check out Hotels.com, and, sure enough, they had rooms available. I went back in and asked why he said they didn't have rooms, and he said he just wasn't sure. The stay itself was not […] pleasant because although I had a non-smoking room, the hallway wreaked of cigarette smoke. Later, people were out front smoking, people were noisy in the halls, and, when I got ou at 6am to check email in business center, a guy was curled up sleep in the business center. It was one of the worst hotel stays I've had in many years. I've stayed at a few Holiday Inn's, but I've never had a bad experience at one until Holiday Inn Akron West. Mehr

This hotel was nicely updated, but... there was mold in the bathrooms (I dont understand how that is overlooked) and the paint on the ceiling would fall off in flakes while you were in the shower. Overall, the room looks pleasing to the eye, but the bed needs updated. Felt thin and hard. If it was a better deal, I would recomend it.
