Typical motel room - it was inexpensive and relatively clean, but the air conditioner was really loud and the lights on either side of the bed didn't work. No flat screen TV. It was fine as a place to rest your head a few hours. Not really much else to say.

Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was clean and in good condition. Only drawback was that there was noise late at night by the pool. Had to call the desk to have very late night guests quiet down.

The hotel restaurant has been closed since November. The gym area consisted of a room with a treadmill in it. The bathroom lights didn't work and the AC unit was very loud. The pool was extremely dirty. No way will I stay there again.. The web site should update the pictures of this hotel. Very bad experience.

The non smoking room was not really smoke free. There was an odor and a ash tray was in the room.

Water was out, and we felt that they should have shared that with us at check in. They did not, and when we got to the room, we called the front desk, and they assured us it would be fixed soon. It did come back on for a short time durning the late evening, but then in the morning again, it was not working at all. Thankfully we had friends near by so […] we could shower before leaving Lakeland. Did not feel that they did anything for the inconveneince we occured during our stay. Mehr

We had no water the second night to use any of the facilities. They did not explain and only supplied us with four bottles of water but no way flushing toilet.

Clean and comfortable,the rear of th building may need additional security at nights

Great for overnight stay to fly out of local airport. Great service provided.

The hotel was great until it was time to take a shower, and with only a few people staying at the hotel, there wasn't any hot water. With it below 35 outside, that wasn't a welcome moment. How hard is it to have hot water?

The room was fine and met my needs. The bed was comfortable. I will stay there again the next time I visit.

The lady at the check in was super friendly and welcoming but she didn't give us the proper room type (2 Queens). However, she quickly fixed it and made sure it wasn't a room at the far end of the hotel. With that said, she didn't even know where I booked the hotel from (hotels.com) and the told me I would be charged on the credit card until I corrected […] her that I've already paid. You could clearly tell the hotel was under new management and cleaning up the hotel. The room was chic with nice furnishing and clean but you could tell some older and more expensive things in the room needed renovation like the bathroom tiles, there was minor mold in the soap dish, carpet stains, old doors with rusty locks, grimey facet etc. The previous management must have done an awful job mainitaining the place but the new management seems to be trying to work with what they have (and can afford). Overall, it was a decent stay for one night and the price, the bed was comfy and the room was generally clean. The area was great, right by walmart and lots of food. The airport was only 5-10 minutes drive away. It's a good place to stay for a night. Mehr

The hotel is nestled amongst various businesses on S Florida Ave. In that regard, the location is convenient. But, in navigating the dark route to your room, you see the reality of where you are staying. I felt extremely uncomfortable pulling up to my room with loiters hanging around and individuals in their car smoking and playing loud music. The public […] up the road closes early to do the crime in the area( this is according to the store manager that escorted me to my car). Although the room was non- smoking, it wreaked of smoke. I had to clean the room before I even felt comfortable touching anything. Mehr

Carpet BADLY stained in bathroom area, hairs in sink - NOT mine. Clumps of dirt on sofa, air conditioning unit next door sounded like a semi truck running all night. Front desk could not locate my hotels.com booking information. Was convenient for black Friday shopping but not what I expected. Would not stay again.

The hotel had a perfect location to see pretty lakes, be near airport and shopping. The room was spacious and clean with comfortable beds and pillows. The pool was the only disapointment as it was to cold to swim in even though the weather was 78 degrees. Hot tub was great!

I booked this hotel over another I was considering based on the convenience to the airport, the offer of a shuttle to the airport, coffee machines in the rooms and breakfast included. THERE WAS NONE OF THE ABOVE!!! Apparently this hotel is under new management and nothing applies that is supposed to be offered. The rooms are tired and in need of refurbishment […] and I would NEVER stay there again! Mehr

room was ok - some fixtures did not work - old style tube tv - a roach crawling on my arm woke me up - need I say more

Upon arrival key card didn't work. Had to return to front desk to have them send someone over to let me in. When I left to go to dinner the key card again didn't work. I was told I'd have to change rooms. When I returned from dinner the door had to be removed to let me in to pack up my belongings to change to another room. The beds were comfortable but the toilet wasn't flushing properly in our room and the coloring of the TV screen was very off, like a greenish color, which made watching it slightly annoying. These were clearly problems specific to our room so I assume the others should be ok.

Excellent Reception Staff!

We arrived late in the evening and not sure what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised to see rooms just they were described, clean, and comfortable.

I stayed two nights at this hotel. The first night, the shower was lukewarm and the air conditioning wasn't working properly (room 218) . The second night, I moved rooms and had a hot shower and perfectly cool air conditioning (room 208). Nice big pool and hot tub, clean, fresh rooms. Overall, a pleasant stay.

Better than expected at a great rate. Nice hotel.

It isn't worth saving the money. The pool is peeling paint off the bottom, the room wasn't very clean, the toilet didn't flush and we had no hot water for showers!

This hotel was wonderful!!! Rooms was VERY clean and then beds was VERY comfortable. The services was even great. The people were very nice and sweet. And the neighborhood and location was great to, plenty of place to have breakfast, lunch or dinner. Room was clean and conveniently located to drop child off at FSC. Towels could be thicker and more plentiful. Pool and hottub were good. Good value overall though.

The hotel had no hot water overnight because an employee forget to set the boiler. Complaints to management and service desk were addressed in a customer friendly manner. The only saving grace was the next manager on duty who thankfully came to our room, heard our complaints and coners and then took care of it. The employees to whom we initially addressed […] the complaint thought it was humorous to hav eno hot water and were very complacent about the incident. Mehr

The Avenue was just a good place to stay. An older style layout recently renovated with good size rooms, nice grounds, and a great pool. The rooms were very quiet and comfortable. Staff was nice and plenty of them around. It was a good location for what we needed.

I choose this hotel based on the reviews online and the location (close to my daughter's college). I am happy to say, that it lived up to its reviews. Very nice rooms, flat screen, and one of the most comfortable hotel beds I've ever slept in! The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Exceptional value for the price. The hotel was great.It was close to everything........especially Southeastern University where my daughter will b going to college in the fall. I will certainly come back again.

As an experienced traveller my biggest issue with this hotel was it's star rating (3), when at best it's a 2.5 on a good day. The hotel is showing it's age and is similar in style to an older Howard Johnson or Holiday Inn from the 80's. On the plus side the staff was very firendly andf the jacuzzi/pool were nice and convenient.

The front desk was extremely helpful, the room was nice sized and very clean. The bed was comfortable. Location was perfect- shopping very close and plenty of choices in restaurants. Will stay there again!

Hotel defnitely shows it age despite attempts to upgrade furniture, etc. Decor (wallpaper, carpet, fixtures, etc.) very dated. Mattress was ok- not horrible, but not what I would call comfortable either. Nice linens though. Despite its age, the hotel was clean and was free of bugs, mold, etc. Staff was friendly at check-in. Hotel is old but maintained. I read the reviews before I booked; therefore, I had a good understanding of the type of hotel it was. It served my purpose and was clean. The bed was very clean and the linens were fresh. The hotel is located in a central location and easy to find. Overall I am pleased and would book again.

I invited a friend to stay at the Avenue hotel over the july 4th weekend, we both were very impressed with the overall stay, a far cry from the original Holiday Inn, from the old days. Stayed there two nights in a row. One night was horrible & next night was great. 1st night in 207 the A/C stopped working. 2nd night a/C was great. Rooms are nice & just redone, it's no hilton, but a nice room for the rates. Located near sun n fun air complex & about 45 minutes from Orlando. I would stay there again.

The Avenue is just the type of place to stay when in town for a quick visit or for folks who have business in Lakeland. The accomodations were very nice, the pool was first rate, the location (although on a major town thoroughfare) was convenient and quiet, and most of all the management and staff were the equals of any in any hotels I've been at. […] ( And I am a mangement consultant who travels upwards of 40 weeks per yer.) A great find in Lakeland. I have it on my best places to stay when in town list. Mehr
