The hotel is dated with appearance and furnishings. There were alarms in vacant rooms at night with the night (person) unable to leave the desk. I did encounter an exceptionally pleasant and helpful front desk person. He coordinated a room change and secured my luggage. The rooms do not have safes and only a small safe box at the desk. Great stay, bathroom in our room was a bit dirty, hair in bathtub & corners but overall great room for the price. great bed. delicious breakfast, with powdered donuts of all things...yum! Very convenient location, walking distance to several restaurants and HP Pavilion, our concert destination.

Our stay was great. We brought our 2 yr. old grandson. The hotel let us have late check out because he was napping. There were nearby things for him, while I was attending my show.

The bar had extremely limited choices of drinks

The Hotel was clean and very convenient to the San Jose Convention Center as I was exhibiting there for the ESC Design West Show. Hotel Staff was very friendly. My room was comfortable, clean, and had all the amenities. Complimentary Breakfast was very good with lots of choices both hot and cold. Staying overnight before flying out next morning. Street car and airplane noise was initially annoying, but bed was super comfortable and we crashed. Only issue was a "$19.99" overnight parking fee the hotel tries to scam you out of when you check in. This was not disclosed on Hotels.com listing, I complained and the manager waived the charge for us […] (and another guy next to me who was complaining of the same thing). So be careful with this fee, otherwise hotel is really cool looking, modern, and very conveniently located. Mehr

Room dusty, heater didn't work, staff didn't smile, no information in room. We stayed in 4 hotels this trip and this was the only one we didn't like.

New decor was great. Room set up efficient and roomy Elevator on the blink but customer service was great. Fine continental breakfast. Now if the restaurants near by were available for weekend conferences it would make it even better.

We are bay area residents that occasionally like to stay in San Jose when we go to Sharks Games and make a weekend out of it. We have stayed at several hotels near HP Pavillion and this was the first time we have stayed at the hyatt. Staying here was a great experience, the room was extremely reasonable, clean and nicely decorated. We even had a little […] sitting area with a couch. The breakfast had lots of options and was delicious. We will definitely be staying here again!!! Mehr

The newly refurbished Hyatt Place made my stay in San Jose a pleasure. The room was clean, comfortable and well appointed. Unfortunately the hotel is directly under the flightpath for San Jose airport and it was quite noisy until midnight. However I doubt whether that problem was any different for the Hilton or Marriot hotels across the road. Parking […] was good, although I hadn't realised it cost $19 a day. Off street parking across the road was $7 a day but I wouldn't risk parking there overnight. Overall, a very good experience. Mehr

Best hotel buffet breakfast I've ever had--outstanding! And best of all, included in the price.

Awesome experience! The restaurant is open 24hrs! Front desk was super friendly! Only one minor complaint, the elevator runs a little slow. Other than that, this hotel is perfect!

This hotel has been recently renovated and they did a very good job. The decor is chic, the free breakfast is better than most, the parking is easy, so much is very good about this hotel. They aren't quite ready yet...my dryer didn't work and the shower was a bit odd but overall, it was a very pleasant stay.

I had the bad fortune to stay here right after they officially changed to the Hyatt. They were so disorganized. There was no information in the room about the hotel. No information on what food was available and when I tried to buy a bottled water in their snack bar they could not figure out how much it was. I prepaid for my room yet they also charged […] my credit card on departure. There is no room service or on site restaurant. They have a list of food items which can be made to order, but no one knew what they are. I asked them what is on the Nachos Grande and the employee said they did not know because they have never seen it made. I asked them if the "chicken wings" were spicy and again they did not know. I told them if they are not spicy we would like an order but if they are spicy at all we do not want them. I ended up sending them back becuase they gave us buffalo chicken wings. There was no ice in the ice maker, The room itself was nice and comfortable and the free breakfast was decent. The room however is very noisy. They have the loudest plumbing system I have ever heard. Everytime someone flushes the toilet it makes a loud whoosh and then thump. Mehr

I feel that I should have been informed at the time the reservation was made that the former Convention Plaza Hotel, now called the Hyatt Place, was undergoing major renovations and was a site of heavy, noise and disruptive construction. Promised restaurant, bar and fitness center facilities were not available, nor was the business center for most of […] our stay. Management did try to compensate with free breakfast and parking. Also, across the street, the Convention Center was also undergoing major reconstruction (more noise and dust). Mehr

Parking is expensive so is the food besides that its a great place to stay

Although this hotel was under renovation, they did keep things tidy and neat where the current customers were. Our room could have been cleaner and maid service didn't come until late afternoon. It was a great location walking distance to many things. Can't wait to see what it is like after renovation.

I chose this hotel because of the reviews. Unfortunately, the hotel is currently being renovated so the decor was sparse and outdated. I just didn't get the feeling of clean and comfy. We drove from Southern Californa and arrived late only to be awakened by workers outside our window. Then on departure we were told there was an additional charge for […] parking. There are lots of hotels in the area, so it wasn't like we couldn't have found a better hotel with free parking and a more chic and spa like feel. Very disappointed. Mehr

There was no available parking. Had to pay to park at the Hilton hotel across the street (would have canceled reservations and stayed there if I had not pre-paid through Hotels.com). There is no hotel bar. There is no room service. I asked to have a cab called, the person at the front desk called my room to tell me it was there and when I got to the […] lobby they told me "It had left." This hotel disappointed at every turn. In the morning, when I asked to speak with a manager to explain my complete dissatisfaction with my stay I was told there was no manger on duty and dismissed. If you have other options in the area, I suggest you stay there instead. This hotel ruined what was supposed to be an enjoyable vacation. Mehr

very nice stay

I cannot complain about the cleaniness of the room and location of this hotel; however, when I stayed there, there was a group of young adults who came to the area for an important event of their lives. Talking loudly, they ran back and forth between doors, opened their luggages in the middle of hallway up to midnight when they finally left the hotel, […] then came back around 2:30 a.m. talking loudly to one another from door to door as though they own the floor. I called the front desk twice around a midnight and and in the middle of the night but they did not rush to take immediate actions. Needless to say, I have my regrets of staying there! It would have been a wonderful experience had the hotel staff took control of the situation. I'd asked the group to quiet down but they did not listen. Mehr

Overall great!!

My main concern was a quiet room and that's what I got. Very quiet and comfortable room, I was very happy. Only complaint: The cleaning ladies yelling and slamming doors early in the morning. Hotel needs to decide are they running a hotel or a nightclub. Lobby is very loud and disconcerting. Distance from San Jose was too far for me so I wouldn't […] stay here again. Nice hotel. You have to pay to park. $19/day with in and out privileges weekdays and $15/day for weekends. I was not happy about that as you don't have a choice, there is no street parking. But the hotel it's self was very nice. No wired internet and $9.95/day wifi but the wifi was only on from 10am-2am iirc. I was also not happy about that. If super […] 8's and motel 6's have free Internet and wifi this place should. Especially when this was not the cheapest place in town to stay, it was more in the upper 3/4 range. The in room TV was a little on the small size and even though it was a newer LCD TV, it was very fuzzy. Not a lot of channels to watch. It did have a nice digital climate controller on the wall and it worked very well. Bathroom was a decent size. The beds were pretty comfortable. The room service food was very overpriced. $9.75 for three eggs?! Didn't bother ordering. Their TV checkout was not working. If you don't care about the TV, Internet, room service, or parking, it is a fairly nice and comfortable hotel. But I would try another few before going back to this one. Mehr

The building itself looks not as nice as you would expect based on the pictures online. They are going through a pretty major renovation to transition into a Hilton. I left my kindle in my room and despite multiple calls to them, was never given a straight answer on whether it was found (each time they said they would call me back but didn't).

My girlfriend and I booked at this hotel as last minute venture on Hotels.com to get away for the weekend. We arrived late that night and were checked in with very little inconvience. Early the next morning there was banging in the room next to us, hammering of some sort. It was 9am. Also across the street there was construction going on. Not the hotels […] fault but added to the sound to the room next to us was pretty comedic. I did call the front desk to alert them of the hammering next door. She apologized and said that she would try but that the hotel was under going renovations. The hotel staff was extremely friendly and smiled all the time but if you book with this hotel you Won't get a good nights rest! Mehr

Hotel reception could not readily locate my Hotels.com reservation and just stared at the computer screen instead of trying to help me check in. It took another person to help the first one get interested enough to actually search for the reservation which he finally found. When I asked about the restaurant (as it was supposed to have) I was told that […] it was under renovation and there was no food or room service available, and that I could "go across the street" to another hotel to get a meal. Nice to discover this only AFTER making a reservation and checking in. This information didn't seem to be on the Hotels.com site. So, not what I was looking for. Mehr

The hotel looked like an aging diva. The deorations were very contemporary but it was rundown and smelly. They are undergoing renovations which people should know about. There is no restaurant or lounge..you'll be sent acroos the street for these amenities. Other than that , customer service is excellent and location cannot be beat.

The managers were excellent! The room was very neat and clean. The location of hotel is conveniently located near Cesar Chavez park and several restaurants. It's under remodeling and will be even better when it's all complete! highly recommend this place!

I would not recommend the Conventional Hotel Plaza. I will give them credit that they were under construction but the place just looked really crummy from the outside. The entrance and lobby area was small, unorganized, and very cluttered. It's a bit worrisome when you step up to the receptionist and they ask you to sign a waiver to not have any parties […] before proceeding forward. We got to the rooms and they were good-sized and clean although the carpets were stained horribly near the entrance. The paint on the outside before entering the room also needed a few more coats. There wasn't even a fridge in the room to store cold goods. When we called down to order some water the guy said they were all out of their complimentary waters or even any water bottles period. The walls were very thin to the point where we were woken up several times by people walking/talking in the room next door and walking the hall ways. And the final call was being woken up at 9:00 by housekeeping... sorry to be nit-picky but this is one hotel we will never be staying at again. Not to long ago we stayed at the Double Trees (by Hilton) and for the same price we got 5-star treatment with a room/hotel that was immaculant and amazing. The only reason we didn't go back to them is we wanted something close to our event. But from this point on we will be going back to Double Tree. Mehr
