die anbindung mit den öffentlichen verkehrsmitteln zur innenstadt ist super. das frühstück sehr dürftig, aber daß es 24/7 kaffe und tee umsonst gibt, haben wir oft gern genutzt. der preis schlägt alles! dashotel hat seine besten zeiten schon hinter sich. aber für den preis ist es top.

Es ist wirklich so schön, wie sie beschreiben. Die grosszügige und einladende Lobby in der ersten Etage diente u.a. dem Weinempfang aller an diesem Tag anreisenden Gäste. Allerdings scheint die Zeit auf 17 bis 18 Uhr begrenzt zu sein. Eher als Ausnahme bekam ich später noch einen Gutschein für die Bar, die nicht ganz so nett ist, wie die Lobby. Beim Frühstück im benachbarten Bistro muss man wissen, was man wählt, um nicht vom Amerikanischen Geschmack überrascht zu werden.

Es wäre prima, wenn die (Einzel)zimmer besser beleuchtet wären, zum Beispiel mit einer Leselampe.

Das Whitehall Hotel macht zunächst einen rustikalen, eher altmodischen Eindruck. Unser Zimmer war jedoch modern eingerichtet und absolut sauber. Über kleinere Mängel (z.B. defekte Schranktür) lässt sich schnell hinweg gucken, da die Lage des Hotels PERFEKT ist. "Tolles altes Hotel in hervorragender Lage"
Dieses Hotel liegt nur ca. 300 m vom Lake Michigan entfernt inmitten vieler Einkaufsmöglichkeiten direkt gegenüber vom John Hancock Tower den man unbedingt besichtigen sollte. Die Zimmmer sind groß, sehr sauber und die Betten sind ein Traum.
"zu teuer"
Das Zimmer war sehr klein. Kingsize wurde gebucht, aber es war max. Queensize. Es war sehr hellhörig. Wenn im Nachbarzimmer die Toilettenspuehlung betätigt wurde, war man wieder hellwach. Fuers Internet werden 7 Dollar pro 15 min. verlangt, dass wurde sehr teuer, weil es nicht, wie angegeben highspeed war und man ewig brauchte, bis sich eine Seite […] aufbaute. Mehr

Das Hotel hat eine super Lage. Der Komfort ist auch gut nur leider ist alles etwas angestaubt, Bettwäsche mit Riss, Handtücher mit Flecken oder ausgerissene Türkette.....schade. Ganz schlimm fand ich die Rezeption; eng, verstaubt, Computer die nicht funktionieren oder Angestellte, die sie nicht bedienen können. "Top Lage und Preis"
Das Whitehall Hotel bietet eine Top Lage und vernünftige Preise. In der Nähe des Hotels gibt es super Shoppings Möglichkeiten,Restaurants und Sehenswürdigkeiten.,wie der Water Tower und der John Hancock Tower. Der Michigan Lake ist innerhalb von 5 Minuten zu fuss zu erreichen... Die Zimmer sind sauber und bequem. Das Bett ist super...

"Can't wait to stay at The Whitehall again!"
I am 50 and my daughter is 25 and we chose to stay at the Whitehall strickly on the other wonderful reviews of the other guest. We were so happy with our decision! We stayed 3 days and 2 nights and were able to walk everywhere. The Hancock building is right beside of the Whitehall and so many other wonderful things to do, see and buy are just a short […] walk away! :0) Poppie the bar tender was perfect for the ambiance of the hotel, the Bell boys were so courteous and helpful, I cannot remember the name of the "new girl - day one even" - at the check-in desk but I know she is going to be a wonderful addition to the hotel staff because of her kindness, and the young man who waited on me in the beautiful glass dinning room for breakfast was so attentive and pleasant. Go expecting a boutique hotel full of charm and history and forgive the small details that they are working on to update while appreciateing the people, eras and activities of this historical hotel. "Great stay"
Fantastic location and the staff were great and the only difficulty we had with the room was that we had booked a king bed and they only hyad a queen. They asked us the second day to come back to see if there were any king's but there were not for the length of our stay. Only problem with the whole stay.

guys in the front door were excelent, as well as concierge. There is a chinese girl there that it's not very kind. Besides this, everything was ok!

Only drawback with a room at front of hotel was unecessary early morning blowing of taxi whistles by concierges when taxi rank was directly across the road.
It was way better than I has even expected it would be, considering how inexpensive it was!

I think the White Hall needs some updating, It tooks up from 8 am to 8pm to get a light bulb in the bathroom replaced, it was poorly lit even with finally the additional light after 3 or 4 calls. The dresser drawer was broken every time I opened I had to pull out and set on bed, rather than have it fall on my toes. the resturant and bar was not very […] accomodating, we walked to lobby on Saturday night at 11:00, 2 other couples came in as well so we all were going to have a after dinner drinks that would be ten people two tables and they said they are closing. breakfast service was bad with no apology. "Great location - but a couple of things to know"
Check in was easy and swift. I was upgraded to a pinnacle room, which was great. Plenty of staff opening doors, but they might have been better employed assisting in other areas. The lobby is small and is filled with bags most of the day (late check outs and early check ins). There are only two elevators, but surprisingly I didn't have to wait long […] at any stage. The room itself was old-fashioned, but very comfortable and clean. Good bathroom amenities and plenty of space. The one strange thing about this hotel is that there are no coffee making facilities in rooms, or in the lobby (other than 7-10 am). And late at night, there are no stores open nearby where you can get a cup of coffee. Check out was a nightmare; it took more than 30 minutes because there was only one person on the desk (and this was at 10 am - a key time for check out I'd have thought) and her attention was taken by a problem customer. This meant a queue of about a dozen formed. Location was great and staff were friendly. Mehr

Everyone who worked there was extrmely friendly in this hotel. Very pleasant staff! The only complaint was the room was to warm and we couldn't get it cooler.

Great hotel staff. View of Michigan Ave nice. TV in awkward position could not see well from bed. Had to pay for Wi-Fi.Very clean room. Very comfortable bed. Near bus stop, restaurants. Adequate work-out room. Reasonable rate. Will stay again
"Close to everything"
The Whitehall is a great value if you want to stay close to downtown for not a lot of money. The room was a bit dated but clean, comfortable and quiet. We were able to walk everywhere and the staff was very helpful and courteous. For the price and the central location the Whitehall was the perfect choice for us.

"First time to Chicago"
I so appreciated the location of the Whitehall Hotel. I think its a great place but could use a little tlc. The staff were friendly and very attentive. I'll definitely go back.
"Not a 4 star anymore"
The hotel is very old and it smells it. Staff when visible, was nice. However, there was never anyone at the front desk or entrance when you needed them. Furniture in the rooms( with the exception of a very comfortable bed) catered to the extremely short chairs and toilet were less than 2 feet of the ground. I found it difficult to stand up

"Excellent"
The hotel was excellently located, had great service, rooms were well kept for their age. The only downside was the trip down the elevator each morning to make tea and coffee. Staff were very obliging too! Vey enjoyable and strongly recommend!
Overall great hotel! Concierge was not available for 2/3 nights we were there and the shower lost water pressure briefly. Super comfy beds clean rooms and great location!

"Nicehotel in great location"
We stayed for 2 nights at this hotel. Rooms are a little small, but updated with comfortable beds. The hotel is in a good location and walking distance or a quick bus or train ride away from the must-see sights.

It lacks basic conveniences such as reasonable internet (wireless), room service, and hand lotion. But the bed was comfortable and location is ideal.

We enjoyed the location of the hotel. It worked really well for us. We had an issue the second day with the internet not working in our room and upon addressing the issue with the front desk and them trying to fix it, but to none avail, we were upgraded to a suite at no additional charge and it was FABULOUS!!!!!! "Long walks - Not so close to the must see sights."
I usually stay within the loop and decided the hotel look nice compared to other rooms due to the last minute booking. It is almost a mile from the "Sears" tower. I did not realize how far it would really be. If you plan on walking (which we did) spend $10 and stay closer to town. The Besides the location, the toilet is right in front of the sink. I am a little OCD - even when I put the seat down the Chicago water is so strong it will still splashing out on my lets, yuck. . . other then those minor issues - the beds are nice and the view isn't bad of the lake. Fantastic shopping and museum location and amazing value on Chicago's Golden Mile...why stay across the street at the Four Seasons or a block away at the Westin, when you enjoy this lovely boutique hotel (on the National Historic Register) for a reasonable rate?
It's a classic hotel in an excellent neighborhood. I had a problem with additional monies added to my debit card before the previous 150 was used. Today is the 14. I left the hotel on the 3rd and still haven't received a release. The day concierge was highly condescending and was quite rude to the person waiting behind me. The only thing i can say is that is "excelente", great value - price hotel, the room was in perfect conditions, and the bed.. i havent had a great sleep in long time, great neighborhood, great restaurants, and near michigan av. so if ur in chicago in vacations like i was, you should give it a try..

WE LOVED Chicago ... the transit is outstanding, easy, clean, safe and goes everywhere. Had a wonderful breakfast just a 5 min walk to the Original Pancake House , just up Rush St Also a GREAT Italian meal at Viaggio on Madison up by the United Center - get the Meatball salad Fun night of live music at The Joynt - again walking distance from the […] hotel Okay this sounds like a review for the city and not the hotel but both were great ... the room was smaller than I typically like but the furnishings were top-end, bed was MEGA comfortable and RICH sheets (I love great sheets).
