Wir möchten immer ein Zimmer zum Hof haben und nicht eines im angrenzenden Hotelgebäude. Ich habe deshalb schon die teurere Zimmerkategorie gebucht mit 2 Betten. Aber wie letztes Mal 10 Dollar Upgrade gezahlt. Aber dafür super freundlicher Service. Super Preis Leistungsverhälltnis für San Francisco und tolle lage zu Fuß 5-10Minuten zur Fisherman-Warf. Auch parken für 12 Dollar in San Francisco ,es sind es in den meisten anderen Hotels 25-50 Dollar.Jederzeit wieder.

Das Hotel liegt in der Geary St. ein paar Blocks vom Union Square. Wir hatten ein Zimmer im zweiten Stockwerk im Mittelgang, was den großen Vorteil hat, dass man den Straßenlärm nicht mitbekommt, sondern nur den gelegentlichen Lärm den andere Gäste verursachen. Die Zimmer haben nur ein kleines Fenster mit einem wenig schönen Ausblick auf den Innenhof. Das Continental Breakfast besteht aus Kaffee, Toast m. Butter u. Marmelade, O- bzw. Apfelsaft u. einem Stück Obst. Problematisch ist die Parkplatzsituation, da gleich vor der Haustür eine Bushaltestelle ist und ansonsten i.d.R. nur Parkplätze für Kurzparker vorhanden sind. Das Hotel bietet für 30 $ p. Tag einen Valetparkservice an, d.h. es kommt jemand u. parkt das Auto irgendwo, was sehr gut funktioniert hat. Das Hotel liegt zwar in der Nähe des Unionsquare aber auch sehr dicht am Tenderloin Bezirk, den man vor allem Nachts meiden sollte. Insgesamt kann ich das Hotel vom Preis - Leistungsverhältnis weiter empfehlen!

"Mark Hopkins Is a Classic"
This Hotel is as well run as when I first visited 45 years ago. It is not an "over the top" luxury hotel, but rather a throw back to the traditional, elegant hotels of previous generations. As you may guess, I am turned off by "over the top", conspicuous displays of unnecessary luxury. The baths are small, but the general ambience of the hotel is pure […] tradftional elegance. I love it, and I would recommned it as an awesome introduction to San Francisco for a family. It was for me 45 years ago with my father and remains special today to me. We requested and were granted a room with a good view for New Year's fireworks. very nice. Otherwise all staff were very accommodating and responsive.

"Exquisite"
As always the Mark met and exceeded my expetations. The discreet exceptional service is outstanding. There is something magical about this place.
Bed was so comfortable! Room very clean! Front desk accommodating - gotta love 12pm check out. They offered us a late check in if we sign up for intercontinental membership..so we were there til 2pm. All Free! Parking $58 total w/tax + free in n put priv..very close to chinatown..only thing is not too many places to eat around there.

"free internet access would be useful"
The Mark Hopkins is a fine hotel and we got an excellent rate over the Christmas holidays. My only complaint was that the computer in the lobby cost about $10 to access the internet. They should have one available free for hotel guests.
"Never a Disappointment"

"Mark Hopkins - Great Hotel. Great Location"
Great location to tram lines so you don't have to walk up the killer hills! Very close to union square and 5 min tram ride to fisherman's wharf. Great proximity to everything a tourist needs! Would recommend to anyone and stay there again. Bathroom was huge, only downside was room quite small and hotel could do with a revamp.
"Top of the Mark"
I just had an amazing stay at the Mark Hopkins. The hotel was great but what topped it off was the incredible view from the bar/dining area in the top floor I could see right across the bay while enjoying my (two servings) breakfast. Wonderful hotel in a great city.

"Wonderful hotel!"
The room was lovely and the view was spectacular. We will return and stay again. The only complaint is the easy access numbers on the phone did not work and the shower curtainsj did not keep the water in and ended up having to roll up towels to keep the water from spreading all over the floor in the bathroom.

The Mark Hopkins is not new and flashy, but it makes up for that with old world SF charm. The rooms are generous in size compared to what you'll find at Union Square hotels, and the beds are very comfortable. Be aware that if you end up on the California St side of the hotel, there is noise from the cable car. To me, though, that just adds to the character […] of the place. my second stay at the hotel, and as before, it was a pleasure. my room was immaculate, the service superior, and the price just right. everything about this hotel exudes class.

We found the hotel to be perfectly located for our business requirements. The rooms are big and well maintained. BUT: If you are looking for a bar on the lobby level you will be disappointed. Customers will be referred to the top floor of the hotel to a crowded bar with dance floor. Not really what you'd be looking for to peacfully unwind at the end […] of a long business day. everything was fantastic during our stay, the staff were very friendly and accomodating. the gym downstairs was in top condition, we used it every day. parking was expensive, but there is no street parking available.

"Loved it!"
So loved our short one-night stay at the Mark Hopkins! We were upgraded to a higher floor. What a view! It was very magical as it's Christmastime in the City and the feeling is just wonderful! So recommend the stay. We got a wonderful rate. Gorgeous decor, elegant yet comfortable. Staff VERY friendly. Absolutely a must for SF experience!!

Rooms were smallish, but very clean and great views. Take a corner room if available! Breakfast at the Top of the Mark has some of the best views of the city. Parking in the hotel is valet only and expensive, but we were able to find street parking on weeknights. Staff were very helpful from check in to concierge to housekeeping and "instant service". the hotel is located a short walk or car drive away from all the major attractions in the city, and has the most awesome views of the city as well. the rooms are clean, not necessarily huge, but well appointed and very well maintained. service is prompt and will attend to your every need, quickly. one note for hotels.com, if one makes a reservation […] for a "View" room, this should be clearly specified to the hotel and in the confirmation email. the hotel was unaware that i had paid extra for a VIEW room, and they need to me made aware well in advance. "Mark Hopkins San Francisco"
We greatly enjoyed our stay at the Mark Hopkins. This iconic hotel is an architectural gem and the whole experience of being there was a great way to start our trip of California. The "Top of the Mark" on the top floor is a fabulous spot for drinks, afternoon tea or a meal. We did not mind the walk up the hill each afternoon to the hotel, which was […] conveniently situated near Union Square. We even walked back there from Fisherman's Wharf one afternoon, without feeling too tired. The hotel offers a car service for those who do not want to walk, and the cable car stop is also very handy. The Mark Hopkins has lovely Art Deco features, the staff were very friendly and helpful and the room was a delight. Mehr

"Amazing Stay and Location"
I stayed here during a recent convention being held at the Masonic Temple which was only 1 block away. If anything I think personally I overspent staying here. This is a top of the line hotel, with a great location, amazing rooms, and great service. I checked out a couple other hotels that other people from the convention were staying at and there […] was no comparison. This hotel has to be the nicest. The only potential downside is that there isn't a whole lot you can check out without having to walk down some crazy San Fran hills (and then back up). But you can easily catch the trolley on California St. to get back up. That said, I explored a bit around the neighbourhood that wasn't down the hill. There were some really cool restaurants nearby and lots of locals out at all hours walking their dogs and even some kids running to the local stores. So you will feel very secure here. If you don't mind some crazy hills on your walks then you can't do much better than this hotel. If you can afford it, and want your hotel choice to be worry-free. Then this is the place. Mehr

Great Location! We walked to Chinatown and ate at a concierge recommended restaurant - which we loved. The next day we walked 4 blocks to Union Sq. and took the Cable Car to the Wharf/ Ghiradelli Sq. area and back. We had great directions and all the staff was very helpful and courteous. Excellent location but hotel is long in the tooth service was slow, room was not cleaned properly, all the street noise (cable cars 2AM street party) heard in room. Hotel did not have a normal dining room
"Mark Hopkins - Up on the Hill and close to at all"
For the second year running, I've been upgraded from my standard King room to a corner room with an amazing view. All the cable cars go by here. Get the Muni Passport and take cable cars to Union Square, Polk St., North Beach and Fisherman's Wharf. If you don't want to climb up or down steep hills, don't stay here - you'll end up doing it a few times, […] even with the cable cars. Often they will be full of tourists and you'll just hike it on foot. This place is a classic. Not modern, but very nice, in an amazing location, with some incredible views. Mehr

We asked for a room with two double beds. Arrived at check in time to learn that none were available. The manager told me he was doing me a favor by not charging me $30 he would ordinarily charge for a cot. Had to call twice to make sure the cot was delivered. Additionally, he assigned us the room right next to the elevator, so I got to listen to the […] elevator rumbling all night. Still, it's a lovely old building and reasonably close -- a 20 minute walk -- to the touristy part of SF. Waitstaff was pleasant, if unresponsive. A mixed bag, in my opinion. Mehr

The Mark Hopkins continues to maintain its presence at Nob Hill as one of the finest hotels in San Francisco. Location can't be beat, either!
"Perfect for me"
This hotel met my top priorities of location and comfort perfectly. On Nob Hill, which means you have to walk up a VERY steep hill, or take a cab, or expensive cable car. I walked and really enjoyed it as my daily exercise. Other things were also great -- very fast check-in/check-out service, maid service is excellent and on par with best hotels I stayed […] in, large room, great view, everything was working, staff helpful with luggage, etc. The only minor down side is if you are facing the side of the street wtih cable car, the sound may wake you up at night or in the morning. Not a big deal for me. Didn't eat there, but had a drink at the Top of the Mark. Yes, it's expensive, but you pay for the veiw, so it makes sense. Overall just a really great hotel and this is my top choice now in SF, where I travel often for business. Mehr
Very friendly and helpful staff. One block from cable car stop. Top of Nob Hill, walk straight down Mason to Fisherman's wharf. Turn right at Columbus for Little Italy and China town. So a great spot! Rooms were great, nicely furnished, clean and a very comfortable bed. Even our three teenage girls loved their room!

Great hotel. One signifcant downside is the location on the top of a steep hill. We are all fit and climbed it with no problem, but had to think twice about the day trip around the area as we did not want to go up many times in a day. There is a lack of good resturants on the top of the hill. You have to go down to the Union square area to get a good […] meal and then climb back up on a full belly, not pleasent. Hotel charges too much of wifi when it is free in many other less prestigeous hotels. Mehr
