I enjoyed staying one week at the Regent. Although it is not as imposing as some of the larger hotels in Singapore (ShangriLa, Park Royal, Marina Sands) it offers good sized rooms and impeccable service at a much lower price point. "Quality but location not ideal"
The hotel does feel like a Four Seasons hotel. The service and the quality of the decor are representative of a Four Seasons and the food is superb. The lunchtime champagne buffet was pricey at 90 pounds each but it was excellent. Having said that it wasn't quite perfect. It would've been nice to have a separate shower and bath, the view out of the […] window wasn't good and it was a long way from where we wanted to be for most of our stay, namely the Marina area. The location would've been fine if we weren't there for NYE when it is almost impossible to get a taxi so perhaps that criticism is harsh. Overall it still deserves a 4.5 rating out of 5 though. Hugely disappointing for a purportadly five-star hotel. Designed to please & cater to only business travelers, & others who wear three-piece suits and the like. If there was even ONE quiet night OR day, I might have enjoyed my stay. It is an old hotel but the location is great. It is not right in the center of the anction so you can get away from it. There is a little shopping center next door, Tanglin center with a market and drugstore and ATM machines. It is convenient. service is up to the Four Seasons standard. Had a wonderful time. Local transport is good, taxi's quite cheap. Bus to Raffles Hotel (36) stops outside. Other buses stop nearby on Orchard Road including the bus to the night safari. Ask hotel staff for travel information. They were extremely helpful and enabled us to see everything on our 'tick list' in 2 and a half days on a limited budget. "not my best stay in singapore"
the room is really small and congested. the furniture is old and not clean. i asked for queen/king size bed and they end up giving me 2x single beds. The housekeeping staff ignored the "do not disturb" light few times and came into the room while i was sleeping, it has one of the worst taxi stands i've experienced in singapore "had to wait 30 mins in […] some mornings to get a taxi". the suite is good, but still, the hotel atmosphere is of few decades ago. "A step above Holiday Inn and Carlton"
I was very pleased with the hotel. There turned out to be a leak in my room from the air conditioner. However I was upgraded as a result to a large suite and the service was impeccable all around at the hotel. This is a great place for both leisure or business. Had some problems initially with the room being either too hot (ac not sufficiently effective) or too noisy (lots of noise heard from neighbouring rooms), but was moved several times until I got a reasonably cool and quiet room. Very appreciative of the hotel's effort to get a suitable room. The moving was a bit of a hassle, and ideally […] the acs would be working more efficiently (presumably not much can be done at this point about hearing the noise from other rooms).
