Hyatt Regency Greenville - Greenville

Everything was excellent - we live close to downtown Greenville and stay on a regular basis as a easy/close get away. Only thing missing was a refrigerator and real creamer for coffee... other than that perfect!!

I was very disappointed with my stay for what I was charged. When I stepped in line to check in at 5:00 pm, I finally received my key at 5:35 pm. There were four people at the desk, but the young lady ( of the four) kept letting people walk up to her and ask questions in front of all of us, and so there were actually only 3 available to check in over […] 50 people. I learned that there was a reunion and convention being held in the hotel, so I suppose the long lines were due to everyone arriving at the same time. That was fine. I remained calm. We made it to our meeting at the Bi-Lo Center in time, but it did cut our dinner short. I booked a "bed and breakfast" package, and when I went to check out the next morning, they didn't even have that listed on my account. A $17.00 breakfast consisted of stale danish, muffins, fruit and coffee (serve yourself). I brought a friend with me and booked this particular Hyatt Regency for the convenience of the location to the Bi-Lo Center. That was really the ONLY perk. The room was VERY small, and I had to pay $30.00 extra to have a micro/frig brought in for the lady who roomed with me to heat up some leftovers. Next year, I'll drive to the Bi-Lo Center and book a hotel that is cheaper and more organized. Low marks for the Hyatt Regency - Greenville, SC. Mehr

The newly renovated handicap room was basically unworkable and we moved to a standard room (staff was nice about the move). The bed was installed too close to the wall for access. Because the shower had no soap dishes and the bathroom had almost no counter space, the handicapped must go back and forth to room repeatedly. The slick new bathroom door […] is translucent, flooding the room with daylight all night (no night lights). The ice bucket was on the top shelf of the closet (inaccessible). Even in the standard room style triumphs over comfort. My comments: too few plugs for electronics; hotel charges for internet, and robes available only on request; and no drawer in the desk. I especially worried about the total lack of security. The main door to public parking next door is unlocked at all times and the card access to guest floors was disabled so anyone can just walk in at any time. Mehr

The Hyatt is a beautiful hotel in a great location. There were only a couple of irksome things about the room. The bathrooms have these sliding doors that are very pretty but difficult to open and close, and they make a lot of noise. There was also this bottle of water sitting out on the desk--we were coming straight from our wedding, exhausted, and […] I reached for the bottle of water without thinking. Most hotels have complimentary water by the bed, and this water wasn't in a minibar or anything where you would expect it to cost money. I was about to open it when my husband pointed out the $4 price tag on it. This seemed very tacky to me; I'd rather pay more for the room than be tricked into buying overpriced water. After that, I was paranoid, checking everything in the room to make sure it was free. Could I use the coffee maker? The toothpaste? It's a small thing, but it really irked me. It's a very nice hotel, but so are all the hotels in downtown Greenville; I probably won't stay at this one again. Mehr

This hotel is a wonderful place for a weekend getaway. The location is perfect for enjoying downtown Greenville with all its restruants and shops. Even though the hotel was (is) undergoing rennovation the staff was most gracious and helpful. We will be back!

Everything was ok, but the room we were given was really small.....our friends stayed in another room and it was larger. Overall enjoyed the hotel and the construction never really bothered us.

It would have been nice for the hotel to inform me that there was construction going on everywhere. I was most dissatisfied with that. Other than that major inconvenience everything else was great.

Hotel is undergoing major renovations. Construction crews were active when we arrived at 3:30. Lobby was a mess, and the SLOWEST elevators. Hallways were hot, heat going even though it was 80 degrees outside. Room was clean and comfy though. Worked out well for Fall for Greenville event.

The room was clean and comfortable. The hall noise was loud enough to wake us up at 2:00 a.m. The hotel is undergoing MAJOR renovations and will not be finished until Jan. 2013. The location of the entrance has been moved from Main St. to Beattie Place and I had to call to find out how to get into the hotel because of the renovations. When I was checking into reserving a room at this hotel I had heard all sorts of good things and how it was one of the top places to stay in greenville! The location is great its right in downtown so you can walk and if your single and wanting to go to the local taverns and pubs its a awesome location! The beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean! […] I did not see anyting when booking about the whole place basically being under renovation I did see where the pool was but there was alot being re done was not to thrilled with that was looking forward to the bar and other things that was closed down wich i did not know would be closed until I got there! When we first arrived the valet parking staff was very nice and made us felt welcomed then the first person we meet at the front desk was not pleased with the atitude recieved from them at first felt as if they tought they were better in a since! Can't beat the location. Huge construction project still ongoing. The pool was closed, which would have been a deal breaker for me had I known in advance. They were very nice about transporting us to a sister hotel, but it's still a nuisance. Noise was not an issue. I thought this hotel was very pricey for a place that didn't even serve a complimentary breakfast. Construction on site makes it difficult to find main entrance. The hotel is under major reconstruction through the end of 2012. I would recommend staying somewhere else until they are done with the construction. The redone rooms are nice, but the noise and dust around the hotel is not attractive.

Overall, very good. It was under construction for updating the lobby, but rooms were good except for the A/C blowing directly on the bed. Look into a 'diffuser' or redirect the airflow so it would be more comfortable.

I went into the hotel's website and saw they were under renovation, I then called and was advised everything was up and running except the atrium area. Wrong, the pool was closed. Part of the vacation was planned around sightseeing in the morning and lounging by the pool in the afternoon. There is nothing else at the hotel to do. We had amenities included with our room fee which were not disclosed to us until the night before checkout. Therefore, we did NOT get: free breakfast, free beverage, or most important - free wireless access. It was very careless.

Its going to be great after construction. We arrived after 11 pm because of airplane delays. We couldn't find the door , and when we found it, we couldn't get in because we hadn't checked in, and therefore had no key. Otherwise, the service and food were excellent, especially the buffet breakfast.

I would have been better off at a Holiday inn Express, the room was not laid out well and the bathroom was small and dated. The comforter had a blood stain on it and the use of the business center was confusing to say the least. In my room it said to use the computers on the 8th floor (I was on the 3rd) for airline checkin but when I went up there they […] all required a password to get on. When I called out find out what the password was they prompted me to come all the way down to the lobby and the computer was on a counter near checkin with no chair and you had to bend over to see the screen and the printer did not work. Hyatt is presently rennovating this 8 floor atrium style hotel. Assigned a rennovated 8th floor room. A well appointed space that just didn't seem to function. The shower head was chin high for this six- footer. The door had a 1/4 inch gap at the top contributing hall noise. Two side suite doors were locked but transmitted additional neighbor noise. […] The room airconditioning unit fan was very loud and went ping-ping-ping all night. Come morning sipping our excellent complimentary coffee, we heard the long low morning yawn of neighbor over by atrium window area. It was time to check out.
