Sheraton Sand Key Resort - Clearwater Beach

Einfach ein tolles Hotel.Die Angestellten sehr bemüht alle Wünsche zu erfüllen. Nur das Badezimmer hätte ein wenig grösser sein dürfen.

Der Eingangsbereich ist nett, die Angestellten sind zuvorkommend, höflich, informativ, die Zimmer waren sauber aber renovationsbedürftig, kein Kühlschrank, das Badezimmer ist sehr klein und vorallem sind die Zimmer sehr hellhörig, für eine Nacht war es O.K.

Wir verbrachten die erste Nacht im ersten Stock während des Springbreaks. Das ist sicher nicht zu empfehlen. Wir sind allerdings einen Tag früher gekommen und man hat alles Mögliche getan, dass wir schon übernachten konnten. Das Essen im Hotel ist nicht zu empfehlen, da viel zu teuer. Clearwater Beach DT hat einige sehr feine Restaurants, die wesentlich […] besser sind. Als spezielles Highlight des Hotels ist sicher der Sandstrand zu bemerken. Mitte März 2011 verbrachten wir zwei Tage in diesem sehr guten Hotel, welches an einem weissen und sauberen Sandstrand liegt. Die Hotelanlage ist gross, aber trotzdem übersichtlich, verfügt über einen Swimmingpool, Tennisplätze sowohl über einen Fitnessklub (gegen Gebühr), 3 Restaurants in verschiedenen Kategorien und einer "Poolbar". Das Zimmer verfügte […] über zwei Queensize Betten und ein Badezimmer, alles sehr sauber. Auf der "Sand Key" Insel gibt es nur Hotels und ein kleines "Einkaufszentrum", in welchem hauptsächlich Souveniers verkauft werden. Daher verpflegt man sich hauptsächlich im Hotel (mit entsprechend hohen Preisen). Insgesamt können wir dieses Hotel nur empfehlen. Mehr

Morgens um 08.00 Uhr hatte es kein wames Wasser zum duschen. In der Dusche lief nur ein ganz kleines Rinsal von kaltem Wasser. Dieses Hotel ist absolut nicht empfehlesnswert.

Hotel staff was great and all were super helpful and friendly. The food in the hotel bar was good and priced well. The hotel is on the trolley line which is good as it is away from any real excitement or things to do. The walk to the beach is fairly far away with nothing but shells/hard sand to walk on. Also, the umbrellas/loungers pictured on the water […] are not included in the room, you have to pay $25 per day if you want to sunbathe on the ocean. Supposedly there is also a vehicle that comes around for drinks/food but we never saw them, had to bring our own down. Overall great staff, comfortable bed, room service was quick, but fine print show 18% gratuity included so don't miss that or you'll end up like my husband and me giving a 35% tip. Mehr

I have never been so disappointed with this resort. it is the worst that I have ever visited globally. And I travel frequently all over the world. you can hear EVERYTHING outside your room and next door. The floor is tile and so you can hear the noise from people dragging their luggages or the house keeping carts. The front desk people DO not offer […] any smile. Looks like we as guests are such a bother to them. I really want to offer them to change their job if they are not happy with their job. Other than the hotel location, this is a aweful hotel to stay. Excellent hotel in which one of the restaurants is first-class. Also very much a family hotel. We were there during spring break and most of the students were elsewhere. One has to book at least 2 months in advance.

I was not at all satisfied with the location of my room. right over the entrance so had lots of car doors slamming and noise once the bars were closed. we have stayed here many times since 1987 and this is the first time i have been so disappointed.

This hotel met all of my expectations. It was clean, well maintained and the help was very courteous. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

I was very disappointed in the quality of the room, it was extremely small. The bed was not comfortable at all. I will not be returning...

Great beach hotel. Our trip was centered on a music festival in Clearwater that had limited parking. We made great use of the local bus, but had to cab back, but only $12.

My wife and I stayed here with another married couple that we are good friends with. We were looking for the right place to stay for a two night getaway and since there are hardly any condos that rent for less than a wk's duration, we knew that we should book a hotel. 3 days before we left I took the steering wheel and booked via our hotels.com website […] (no, I don't work for them), ha. Here is what we wanted: -walking dist from beach -not lil kids running around...(we knew that would be unavoidable but we wanted a place that didn't offer free stuff for kids/huge pool, etc) -clean, nice room, but didn't need 5 stars b/c we knew we'ld be on the beach most of the time. I can speak for our group and say that this place fit the mold. And although it isn't near The Beach Walk (a short drive though), it had its own beach (2 mile loop with signs) with a good length walk up to the rocks that seperated the bay from the gulf, very cool. This hotel was the closest so we didn't have to walk past a bunch of other large, loud groups. IWe didn't end up eating at the hotel, which was good/planned. For bearkfast we went to a place called "Sally's Diner." Although they were a lil slow it was very chill and worth the wait and a short drive. Then Satuday night we went towards the huge and loud kidle restaurant...but then found a great place accross the parking lot from it. I can't recall the name. G'luck! Mehr

Wonderful experience! My husband and I eloped at the hotel beach. The staff was amazing! The room is extremely clean. I requested an early check in and as soon as I arrived at 1pm, the room was ready! They even delivered us (2) bottles of champagne to congratulate us. The hotel is in a great location as well. It is very hard to sleep or rest in here. You can here each and every move outside, and everything your neighbors above, below, and to the sides are doing. i never expected this from a hotel that is supposed to be 4stars.

This hotel was beautiful. Everyone was so friendly. The breakfast buffet was unbelievable!

This is my fourth stay at the Sheraton and I was not disappointed. The resort is in an excellent location, close to many attractions yet it provides a great getaway for those seeking a relaxing vacation. The staff was extremely helpful and pleasant. I was very happy with this hotel. The breakfast was a full buffet and amazing. The hotel staff was great. Some of them even went above and beyond what the staff in other hotels have done. The entire hotel was very clean. They were doing some maintenance to the hotel while I was there. The water in our room got accidentally turned off for about a half […] hour, but they promptly had it turned back on. The bed was very comfortable. The beach was very clean. The only bad part about the beach was that it had too many shells. We had to wear flip flops to walk around, especially in the water. The pool and hot tub area were kept up very well. The bartender at the poolside bar was very friendly and makes great drinks. If you are looking to be right on Clearwater Beach, this hotel is across a long bridge from the public beach. They have a wonderful trolley that runs back and forth from the hotel to the beach, though. We rode it just for fun some days. Overall, I was very pleased with this hotel. I would recommend it to people traveling for business or pleasure. It would also be great to stay in with kids. Mehr

Had a wonderful stay. Been to this hotel at least a dozen times and each visit has been wonderful. Very friendly and accomodating staff. Will continue to visit for years to come.

This hotel is in a very nice location with a big, gorgeous beach. The pool and outdoor bar were great and the whole place was clean. Unfortunately, the room was so uncomfortable that we couldn't sleep for the 3 nights we stayed there. The beds are small and WAY too soft, with thick pillows that will hurt your neck as your body sinks into the bed. With […] 2 people in the bed you will both sink toward the middle, and will wake each other up any time you move because the sheets and blankets were hard and crunchy. The air conditioning in our room worked during the day, but would shut off at night every night and wouldn't respond to the thermostat. And as an added random little annoyance, the shower head was so low I had to crouch to wash my hair and I am only 5'7". This hotel could be really great, but it seems like they went out of their way to make the rooms uncomfortable. Mehr

Nice hotel. Beds extremely comfortable. Had the best nights sleep. Quiet location away from the traffic of Clearwater Beach yet close to enjoy it. Large beach! Nice pool area. Negatives: Bathrooms don't have vents. No refrigerators/microwaves in room. No place to store leftovers from restaurants.etc.

We live in the area and our visit was just to have a "night away from the kids".... We know the area well and knew what to expect. The hotel itself is nice and kept in great condition. The rooms however are MUCH smaller than I expected. I have been here numerous times for dinner but never stayed, I was a little dissappointed with the room size. The […] hotel is smaller so the amenities are small for example the pool is smaller so if a lot of people are there it easily feels over crowded. While the area is nice, if you are looking for "things to do" without needing a vehicle, stay closer to the pier on Clearwater Beach. If you are looking to relax, stay in the hotel and enjoy the beach/ocean - the Sheraton Sand Key is a great place to visit! Mehr

The hotel staff was very helpful, courteous and friendly. The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. I always enjoy staying there as they have their own private beach area. The hotel was centrally located to restaurants and shops.

Had a great experience at the hotel. Will definitely stay again. The rooms would be 100% comfortable if they include a microwave and a refrigerator.

Overall we enjoyed our stay. The resort was very clean and nice. There were 3 restaurants in the hotel which was very convenient. My only issue was that this is very much a family resort, and my husband and I were looking for some couple time. Still, we would recommend this resort.

Our stay at the Sheraton Sand Key was good overall. Perhaps it was the weekend we were there, but it was a very crowded hotel. With so many patrons there, the hotel did not have the romantic atmosphere we were looking for. The hotel decor could be updated. For a Sheraton, we were expecting a more modern hotel. We loved vacationing in Clear Water, Florida in August. The Sharaton Sand Key is in a terrific location if you don't like crowds. The beach was nice. The pool though small was never too crowded. There were terrific restaurants in walking distance and within a 5 mile drive. We never had to wait at restaurants or need reservations. We stayed at the Sheraton Sand Key in Clearwater FL for 9 days at the end of July and were greatly disappointed. This hotel accomodated several large group events (at least 5 separate events, ie. family reunion, high school reunion, corporate retreat, high school students on a church retreat, etc...) during our stay and was grossly understaffed. Although […] this hotel has 3 eating establishments, only one serves breakfast. We had an average wait of 15 to 20 minutes daily in order to be seated for breakfast. Then the wait staff was slow to bring anything that we requested. I must admit that the quality of the food was adequate, especially the breakfast buffet, but going to breakfast was a daily source of aggravation for me. Another major issue with this hotel is the fact that it has ONLY ONE SMALL TO MEDIUM SIZED POOL that was always crowded, regardless of time of day. With so many rooms and guests, you'd think that they would invest in building at least one more pool. It is true that this hotel is on the beach, however the distance between the hotel and the ocean is at least two football fields long. It is not possible to go to the beach and run back to your room to get something or use the bathroom, and with small kids this is less than ideal. We vacation with our children every year at a different location, and by far this was the property that we liked the least. The only positive thing that I must say is that the food at their main restaurant, Rusty's, was always good. Mehr

I stayed at this hotel recently and I had a wonderful time. The hotel was beautiful, the room was fantastic, very comfortable beds and bedding, had a wonderful room with a balcony and a view of the ocean. It was nice staying somewhere that had beachfront access. There are only two things that I wish were different but not huge factors: 1) they do not […] offer free internet access in the rooms 2) It would have been more convenitent if the vanity in the restroom area were larger. But all in all I had a wonderul stay and would highly recommend this hotel. Mehr

When i requested a refrigator,the hotel did not have one for 5 days

Hotel had a very nice staff, the cleaniness of the rooms were great and other areas were superb and my family was absolutely satisfied were the stay. The beach area was the hot spot and the pool was excellent. My only complaint was not being able to stay longer.

The hotel pool was crowded and sworming with kids! Not very relaxing, however, the beach was wonderful and for $25 you could rent 2 chairs with cushions and an umbrella, which was truely worth every penny. This was my second stay at this hotel and the pool area was completely nuts on both visits.

From the nice look outside and from the generally good ratings I expected an updated hotel. Certainly not so: except for the TV and a few other things they haven't done a thing to the rooms for 20 years. The bath was so tiny that they placed the sink outside, unheard of in a 4 star hotel (who gave them 4 stars by the way..?). The rest of the bath you […] can imagine - vinyl wallpaper, yellowish plastic tub etc. We also had an awkwardly narrow balcony where you had to pull in your knees while seated not to sit against the fence (no, I'm not big). At night we bought a bottle of wine in a store we were going to put in the mini bar fridge. Would have been great if there was one, and I had to go down to the bar to open the bottle. I understand not everybody can face the beach (we faced tennis courts and a parking lot), but the hotel is located in a way that a lot more rooms could get nicer views, so your odds are better in other hotels. I had previously stayed at the Hilton and the Sandpearl. The Sheraton was much cheaper on the dates we went (not always so though) so my complaining stops there. If you have a choice I would recommend those places way over the Sheraton. If you get a good deal at the Sheraton and decide to go nontheless, well, don't expect too much. The location is nice right at the beach. The pool is tiny for such a big hotel and gets horribly crowded, both in and around it. Mehr

the appearance and cleanliness of the hotel was great. The only complaint was the beds were not extremely firm, and my room was stationed right next to the maintenance headquarters.....imagine that!

My wife and I were very pleased with our stay. Unfortunately, we had to leave a day early because our children got sick. The rooms are clean and the Sand Key beach is gorgeous. Even though we booked a 2 night stay and left a day early, the hotel was understanding and did NOT charge us for the 2nd night's stay. This was unexpected, since Hotels.com […] explicitly stated that refunds were not available with this booking. I called Hotels.com and explained the issue (10-15 minutes later) and was refunded my money for the second night's stay. Even though our stay was brief, I will be booking this hotel again through Hotels.com real soon. Mehr

didn't think this hotel deserved a 4 star rating at all! The room quality was cheap and there was no refridgeratot and limited counter space. will not stay here again.

If you just want to hang out at a nice beach with good drinks easily accessible from the bar or cart, this is your place.
