Mayfair Hotel & Spa - Miami

Um es kurz zu machen: Das Hotel wurde wohl in den 70er/80er mit viel Liebe zum Detail und gutem Konzept erbaut, und scheint seitdem nicht mehr ausreichend Umsatz abzuwerfen, um den ehemaligen Standard zu halten. Beispiel: der Hotelaufzug der zur öffentli. Parkgarage führt ist dauerhaft stillgelegt. Das ganze Hotel umgibt eine Art Patina, was sich dann […] auch z.T. auf die gefühlte Sauberkeit niederschlägt, z.B. in den Aufzügen oder die Bettwäsche, sie war sauber machte aber einen muffigen, vergilbten Eindruck. Es ist alles vorhanden und sauber, aber irgendwie sehr veraltet und abgenutzt. Die Lage ist aber dafür gut, direkt an dem kleinen Einkaufs"zentrum". Ein weiterer Nachteil ist der mangelnde Hotelparkplatz, öffentliches Parkhaus, oder Parkuhr füttern - beides relativ teuer. Mehr

Das Hotel hat ein sehr nettes Ambiente und wir waren mit den Zimmern sehr zufrieden. Geräumig, mit Balkon, großem Fernseher und großem Bad. Kleine Probleme wie defekte Glühlampen wurden sofort behoben. Mit dem Auto ist man in max. 15 min. in Miami Downtown und ca. 5-10 min. später in Miami Beach. Das Hotel liegt zwar in unmittelbarer Nähe eines kleines Einkaufszenter ist jedoch von der Verkehrslage nicht praktisch; besonders wenn man ans Meer will. Die Küste liegt ca. eine halbe Stunde weit entfernt. Es hat einen Pool auf dem Dach des Hotels, jedoch ist das Wasser durch die Hitze der Sonne zu warm um darin zu baden. Beim Fernseher ging die Funkschaltung […] immer wieder nicht. Bereits um 04.30 Uhr wurde man von der Müllabfuhr geweckt. Für das Preisleistungsverhältnis ist dieses Hotel viel zu teuer und waren deshalb nur 2 Nächte dort. Die übrigen 6 Nächte haben wir in Ft. Lauderdale im Hyatt verbracht. Welches sensationell war! Beautiful facility and excellant customer service. Nice place to stay for rest and relaxation.

This was my second time staying at the Mayfair. The first time we were blown away by what a great place it was for the price. The seecond time there I was no less impressed with the quality of the hotel. First it's in a fantastic location. Lots of shopping and dining right across the street and within blocks of the hotel. Second, the hotel has an awesome […] asian-inspired theme. It's very tranquil with an open air atrium and plenty of spaces to sit, listen to the running water within the facility, and soak in the tranquility. The rooms are wonderful as well with enormous japanese style hot tubs in every room and modern stylings throughout. I'd recommend the Mayfair to anyone I know that's travelling to the Miami area and wants to avoid the congestion of the South Beach area. Mehr

It is a very nice location--right next to Coconut Grove, which provided us many things to do. The hotel itself is really beautiful. The stuff are friendly and nice. We recommend this place to everyone.

We had a nice night at the mayfair. Japanese style hot tub was a +++ just awesome. Great room service and employees charisma was notable. Extra charge for minibar, hot tub and miscellaneous stuff( toothbrush , wines, snacks,etc) great hotel overall for a romantic stay...not for party people

The shower tub needs to be reviewed. One end is the shower head and a protective pexiglass wall to avoid spashing. No way you can control the water without geting your Hair all wet. Also there is an incline as you enter the tub and you can almost fall. It happens to our friends also. This is a danger to all. I liked my stay at the Mayfair. The staff was very friendly, and the accommodations were very luxurious and comfortable. I'm not kidding here... When was the last time you stayed at a hotel that has TV's in the bathrooms and a private porch with a hot tub in each room! I liked the location as well. The Mayfair has romantic personality. The interior courtyard, with quiet pools and lush greenery is lovely and a focal point of the hotel. Too bad the rooms don't open on it. Instead they all face streets, which are noisy almost 24/7 thanks to the clubs and CocoWalk next door. We changed rooms after the first night. The new room was a little better, […] not being opposite an HVAC across the way, but still far from quiet. Room appointments are near, but not quite, luxurious. The big flat screen is jammed on a too small dresser that abuts the window, making it hard to draw or open the curtains. The TV couldn't turn all of the way toward the bed even if the stand had swiveled. The in-room jacuzzi might have been great, but there is no way to light the space at night (and no way to close the blinds above it during the day). Plus the jacuzzi faucet had a major leak. Little things subtracted from what might otherwise have been a four-star experience. The Mayfair is a nice hotel in a high-energy area. It's not what it could be though. Mehr

The internet is very slow. Don't even think about using the business center, the computer is obsolete. We were there for over 45 minutes and did not get anywhere, just needed to print something. We got charged for the services we did not get anyway. Talk to the assistant manager and she said that the business center is run by a separate company, so […] they did not take any responsibility for the service. The hotel needs a little TLC, it looks like it had its glory but is not in a good shape now. Ballet parking were sharp and on time. Good location. Mehr

The hotel brings the tropical outdoors inside with beautiful open to the sky areas in the lobby and a covered balcony off each room, all with lush foliage. Rooms are spacious and well appointed. The rooftop pool and bar area is a must to see even if you don't have time for a swim. The location is convenient to the many restaurants, shops and galleries […] in Coconut Grove and a short walk to the park by the yacht harbor. Great place for either a business or a pleasure trip. very good hotel,best location in the area. the staff top of the line. my room was #537. only one inconvenience, the bed was noise. i still recommend this hotel as one of the best.

Although by now somewhat in need of an update this is a great hotel with fabulous staff - would recommend it

amazing and beautiful. would recommend to everyone. Especially because Coconut Grove is such a humble little place and so down to earth. Its away from the typical miami scene. LOVE IT

The Mayfair is an incredible hotel at an amazing value. The location is second-to-none and it made for the perfect spot to lounge and relax, both before and after going out on the town. I marked the hotel down for only two things: 1) I had to remind the front desk 5 times one night that I needed ice before someone finally brought it up, and 2) The elevator […] needs to be air-conditioned, it's too uncomfortable in the Miami heat. I went with my sisters for a four day getaway. The hotel was so clean and comfortable and the food and surrounding shopping areas were great too. I would definitly recommend to someone as well as visit again.

For the price (a 50% off bargain deal) it was acceptable, but my experience didn't match the pictures/description online. The people at the hotel were nice, but not very helpful - they were out of non-feather pillows, balcony hot tub wasn't filled after requesting it in person at front desk, never got extra towels (ended up taking some from pool area), […] and called downstairs for ice and it never arrived (the ice situation is aggravating - ice machine is on certain floors behind a door marked "Pantry - Employees Only" - ended up getting myself anyway). We had a wonderful stay at The Mayfair - our only complaint was that our room had some maintenance issues that needed to be tended to, which is something I would not expect in a hotel the caliber of The Mayfair. However, these issues were fairly minor and did nothing to detract from our stay. We would certainly stay at The Mayfair again.

We stayed at the Mayfair Spa and Hotel for one week, July 23 - 30, 2011. The hotel was located right in Cocowalk. Very close to restaurants, bars, stores, and movie theatre. Staff at the hotel were very helpful and friendly. The rooftop pool was great too! Didn't get a chance to use the spa, but had a pool side massage as a special to guests one day. […] The spa director was Paul was very good! If I had to complain about one thing, I would say that the rooms were a bit damp feeling and the floors could have been washed more often. We did have to wash our feet every night before going to bed as they were black from walking around without shoes. All in all, I would still go back because the service and location were A+. Mehr

I enjoyed this hotel! It was in a great location with lots to do around it. The hotel was upscale & has a great spa. With the pool on the roof. However the amenities offered by the hotel were more expensive than I expected. All-in-all a great place to stay!

I booked the Mayfair over a month ago. Prepaying my room through hotels.com. I booked a room with a king and got a double. When I called the front desk to change my room, I was told that there were no kings available, but was told by the front desk that I did get an upgrade on the room because there was no king beds available. My upgrade consisted of […] a larger size room, which I did not need. The front desk also could have said something when we checked in. Strike one. The message light on the phone was blinking, but the phone would not connect to the message box, so we unplugged the phone to make the light go away. There was also no hairdryer in the room and it took two calls to the front desk to get a hairdryer sent to us. Strike two. When we got into bed, we were surprised with a pair of sox (not ours, nor was it a gift from the hotel). Strike three. To make matters worse, at checkout we were asked about our stay and we told the front desk clerk what happened. The phone and dryer I could live with, but the dirty socks was a problem. However, it was very late at night so we just jumped into the other bed. The front desk clerk apologized and asked us what they could have done to remedy the issue. Obviously it was too late, we were checking out. But worse of all, was that the individual proceeded to charge us for parking and a bottle of water from the mini bar. Not, "I'm sorry let me take care of the parking for one night and the water from the mini bar", but you owes another $35 bucks. A good hotel would have discounted at least the parking and mini bar and would not have asked me first how they could have remedy the situation. They would have done and then asked me if there was anything else they could do. Had the hotel done that this review would've ended in a positive note for the hotel. Overall the Mayfair Hotel & Spa was a great place for our stay. Lots of great charm around the neighborhood with local restaurants and shopping nearby. The hotel staff was very friendly and willing to give good advise about the surrounding area. Hotel was beautiful, room was big and really nice, tv in the bathroom. I booked this hotel for the jacuzzi and our jacuzzi was all broken in the bottom and empty which they didnt let us know. Also after the cleaners cleaned our room they left the door ajar which ended up being for hours, lucky nothing was stolen. I really wanted to like this hotel, but the looks of the hotel wasn't enough to overcome the really bad parts. We checked in and two things happened, (1) the pool and rooftop patio is closed due to "weather" but the weather was fantastic- I'm from the area so I know; (2) they gave us a room (executive suite) that was under construction, meaning there […] were floor buffers, shop vacs, and dust everywhere. They upgraded our room to a deluxe suite- great! The room they gave us was nice, but then you go out on the patio and there is an area for a garden, like a big 8' x 12' area, that was all DIRT and MUD. The room next to us had nice tropical plants in theirs. We had the soaking tub filled, and instead of bringing us the nice salts, the guy pours SHAMPOO into the water. And then we get in, and the tub is dirty with scum wrapping the edges. The next day it rains and so I ask the concierge for a recommendation as to what to do, and she tells me there's really nothing I can do in Miami when it rains- RIGHT. I ask about the science museum, she says it's a "museum". She didn't even mention the movie theater or comedy club across the street. I'm assuming that she is either the worst concierge of all time or just a manager with a title. I'm really disappointed with this hotel. I know some had really good experiences, and I was banking on that, but mine was bad and I'm sure that it is NOT outside of the norm. I will not be going back and I would not recommend it to my friends, unless I didn't like them. NO pool or rooftop deck with amazing views, dirty soaking tubs, horrible maintenance, and terrible concierge. When I go back in two weeks, I will be staying else where. Mehr

The hotel was great itself, the rooms very nice and well stocked. The layout is interesting in that you are outside until you enter your room. Each room has a suite name and custom design that I found to be nice. The balcony is very private and is where the Japanese Soaking Tub was. Although the balcony is technically outside (in our suite) it is walled […] off just 6 feet from the edge. You can see sunlight if you look up, but a wall if you look out. This was fine with us because the balcony would look straight in to the suite and ruin the private feel. The soaking tub has to be requested to be filled and there was a one-time charge for that. The only real gripe we had was the parking. If you park in the "Mayfair Hotel" parking (not using the valet at the front door" you will be charged $24 per day. I was a little dissapointed to find that the Mayfair hotel was not affiliated with the Mayfair Hotel parking garage... so no reduced rate or validation. I never checked into it, but the valet is probably not any better. Overall, the great location and very private rooms would lead me to suggest this to anyone wanting to be in the heart of the Coconut Grove area. Mehr

a bit old and noisy but beautiful hotel, original style. lounge bar on the roof very pleasant. our room was on level 5, and music coming from the roof bar can disturb there was a wedding on this saturday so lot of noise , but only till 1am. old jaccuzzi on the balcony : not really attractive

I had been to events here before but had never stayed here. Love this hotel! I was upgraded to a beautiful Jr Suite with a zen terrace that included a great hot tub outdoors. Very nice- I recommend it highly- not to mention you are walking distance to everything in Coconut Grove....

The hotel staff was incredibly helpful and all the reservations were in the system. The food is a bit pricey but over all a great place to stay.

Not bad, but a little old. Needs some updating.good location. I was upgraded to the Presidential suite. Nice room but again a little updating would not hurt. I do not think I would be back.

The photos online did not represent the actual condition of the hotel and the promimity to attractions. I found the staff to be extremely pleasant, but the maintenance of the hotel needed attention. It was dark and not kept. The hall noice was loud early in the morning with people checking out. The beach was a $70 round trip cab ride. The wireless connection […] did not work. The fitness equipment was not maintained. The pool was very small. One you would expect in your back yard. Toilet was broken. They do not have Aveda products as advertised. Mehr

Room looked fine until you started to notice it was not very clean. My husband walked across the floor in white socks and they got black on the bottom. The bottom of the door to the bathroom and molding looked gross. The phone did not work a lot which made it impossible to call for your car when going out. Parking was $26 a day with valet only which […] meant you had to add a tip on to the $26 each time you went out. No hot water the first morning. Tub (i.e. showers) was so difficult to get in and out of safely especially if older. Charged $13 a day for Internet connection. No suitcase stand made it so hard to deal with my suitcase esp since I didn't want to totally unpack. The room was so quiet it was great! The TV was wide screen and perfectly placed for watching from bed. Safe in room was easy to use and so convenient. Mehr

A very nice hotel for the price. Two cautionary notes - the hotel can be noisy because of its design. All of the rooms are centered around an atrium that is used for meals and parties, so it can be noisy. Also, be sure to ask if the roof top bar will be open for you. We were given a free upgrade to a suite which was a pleasant surprise. The suite was huge. However, two separate beds which we had requested in our booking would have been better than a king size bed. The surrounding area is very good, but we were awaken in the middle of the night by loud noise from cars and screaming people on the streets. Since breakfast […] at the hotel restaurant is quite pricey we inquired about other breakfast options nearby. Hotel concierge and other staff did not inform us that the bookstore next door is serving hot breakfast and very good organic coffee at very affordable prices. Although it would have meant a loss of business for the hotel restaurant, we expect that providing this information is part of the hotel concierge service. Mehr

I would definitely recommend the The Mayfair Hotel. The hotel itself is very unique - with beautiful architecture and landscaping. The hotel is close to Miami's Grove area, which contains shopping, dining, nightlife, etc. Our hotel room featured a hot tub on the balcony.
