Mayfair Hotel & Spa - Miami

The hotel was great itself, the rooms very nice and well stocked. The layout is interesting in that you are outside until you enter your room. Each room has a suite name and custom design that I found to be nice. The balcony is very private and is where the Japanese Soaking Tub was. Although the balcony is technically outside (in our suite) it is walled […] off just 6 feet from the edge. You can see sunlight if you look up, but a wall if you look out. This was fine with us because the balcony would look straight in to the suite and ruin the private feel. The soaking tub has to be requested to be filled and there was a one-time charge for that. The only real gripe we had was the parking. If you park in the "Mayfair Hotel" parking (not using the valet at the front door" you will be charged $24 per day. I was a little dissapointed to find that the Mayfair hotel was not affiliated with the Mayfair Hotel parking garage... so no reduced rate or validation. I never checked into it, but the valet is probably not any better. Overall, the great location and very private rooms would lead me to suggest this to anyone wanting to be in the heart of the Coconut Grove area. Mehr

a bit old and noisy but beautiful hotel, original style. lounge bar on the roof very pleasant. our room was on level 5, and music coming from the roof bar can disturb there was a wedding on this saturday so lot of noise , but only till 1am. old jaccuzzi on the balcony : not really attractive

I had been to events here before but had never stayed here. Love this hotel! I was upgraded to a beautiful Jr Suite with a zen terrace that included a great hot tub outdoors. Very nice- I recommend it highly- not to mention you are walking distance to everything in Coconut Grove....

The hotel staff was incredibly helpful and all the reservations were in the system. The food is a bit pricey but over all a great place to stay.

Not bad, but a little old. Needs some updating.good location. I was upgraded to the Presidential suite. Nice room but again a little updating would not hurt. I do not think I would be back.

The photos online did not represent the actual condition of the hotel and the promimity to attractions. I found the staff to be extremely pleasant, but the maintenance of the hotel needed attention. It was dark and not kept. The hall noice was loud early in the morning with people checking out. The beach was a $70 round trip cab ride. The wireless connection […] did not work. The fitness equipment was not maintained. The pool was very small. One you would expect in your back yard. Toilet was broken. They do not have Aveda products as advertised. Mehr

Room looked fine until you started to notice it was not very clean. My husband walked across the floor in white socks and they got black on the bottom. The bottom of the door to the bathroom and molding looked gross. The phone did not work a lot which made it impossible to call for your car when going out. Parking was $26 a day with valet only which […] meant you had to add a tip on to the $26 each time you went out. No hot water the first morning. Tub (i.e. showers) was so difficult to get in and out of safely especially if older. Charged $13 a day for Internet connection. No suitcase stand made it so hard to deal with my suitcase esp since I didn't want to totally unpack. The room was so quiet it was great! The TV was wide screen and perfectly placed for watching from bed. Safe in room was easy to use and so convenient. Mehr

A very nice hotel for the price. Two cautionary notes - the hotel can be noisy because of its design. All of the rooms are centered around an atrium that is used for meals and parties, so it can be noisy. Also, be sure to ask if the roof top bar will be open for you. We were given a free upgrade to a suite which was a pleasant surprise. The suite was huge. However, two separate beds which we had requested in our booking would have been better than a king size bed. The surrounding area is very good, but we were awaken in the middle of the night by loud noise from cars and screaming people on the streets. Since breakfast […] at the hotel restaurant is quite pricey we inquired about other breakfast options nearby. Hotel concierge and other staff did not inform us that the bookstore next door is serving hot breakfast and very good organic coffee at very affordable prices. Although it would have meant a loss of business for the hotel restaurant, we expect that providing this information is part of the hotel concierge service. Mehr

I would definitely recommend the The Mayfair Hotel. The hotel itself is very unique - with beautiful architecture and landscaping. The hotel is close to Miami's Grove area, which contains shopping, dining, nightlife, etc. Our hotel room featured a hot tub on the balcony. I came to Miami for medical reasons so it was important to me to have nice accomodations. The Mayfair was as nice as it looked on the internet. Keep up the nice service. Regards, Ghislaine

Excellent location in heart of Coconut Grove. Walk to shops and restaurants. Parking is expensive $26/day. Free WiFi hardly ever works and drops you like a hot potato while you're working. If you need WiFi go across the street to Starbucks, it will save you hours of frustration. And don't bother calling the hotel manager about the WiFi - they'll send […] up an Internet assistant who doesn't know what an IP address is. The problem is the signal is too weak to cover the hotel AND when the Internet gateway goes down nobody is on site who can reset it for days. I've stayed here several times and the story is the same... good room, good location, fair service, lousy Internet, outstanding ambiance. Mehr

Gorgeous hotel with unique architecture and modern touches. Private balconies with Japanese soaking tubs make this the perfect place for a romantic getaway. The rooftop pool and bar offer a nice view of the city, and the courtyard is a lush oasis tucked away from the bustling nightlife of CocoWalk.

Scenic indoors. Open roof, fountain courtyard. Looks nice. Elevators didn't always work quite right. Rooms are nice and spaceous, as are the bathrooms. Hot tub on the patio but it was empty. Right across the street from Cocoa Walk, very convenient.

We loved this hotel. It's an architectural landmark and feels like a hideaway in a big city. My boyfriend is in the military and was about to deploy the next day, and when the valet guys saw his uniform, they talked to the manager and parked our vehicle for free. That was nice. The hotel is gorgeous (very Frank Lloyd Wright with Art Nouveau-ish touches) […] and clean, with a Japanese-style tub in the balcony. Very private and relaxing--a nice contrast to the generic Marriott and the sterile Sonesta down the street. We thoroughly enjoyed it. There's a movie theater across the street and some decent restaurants and shopping as well. Coconut Grove is a really interesting, quirky neighborhood. Mehr

I have stayed here many times, and had been very good until this trip. The room was musty and because they were full due to a edding they woulod not relocate me. The hotel was also very noisy this weekend from a wedding prty that went on till 5am waking me several times.

The Mayfair was absolutely gorgeous. The rooms were exceptionally large and clean. The staff was friendly and quite informative. The Mayfair Grill was a great choice for lunch and dinner. I highly recommend the avocado mashed potatoes! The rooftop pool and cabanas was a great way to spend the day. Can't wait to return.

The Mayfair is not a brand new hotel but it continues to have its "charm". Rooms are really spacious and the hotel is located in a GREAT place -- lots of nice restaurants in walking distance. Staff in the front desk are really nice.

Maybe my expectations were off but I always thought The Mayfair was a great hotel in Miami. I have heard of quite a number of celebreties who have stayed at this hotel. Well, maybe that was in the past. This weekend my wife and I were disappointed about a few things. My understanding when I made the reservation was that a free breakfast was included. […] The Hotel said it was not. I guess they felt bad and gave my wife and I a free continental breakfast only. We were disappointed with this. Also, the list of television stations offered in the room was not available. I had to ask for it twice. It seems like a minor thing but given that this is a 4-star hotel, I expected better service. Finally, the hotel needed pressure cleaning BADLY. It seems ridiculous that a 4 star hotel had such dirty walls. The food in the restaurant was good and the room was clean. We stayed in a suite. The hotel needs updating very badly. The elevators were really OLD and slow. The pool area was OK. My wife and I made the best of it and had a good weekend. But, considering the reputation of the hotel, I was disappointed. The parking was ridiculously expensive. The overnite valet is $26 PER NIGHT. We parked accross the street at CocoWalk for $10 per night. I probably won't stay at this hotel again. Mehr

Wonderful service, comfortable room, great price and luxurious upgrades. This is a terrific hotel, with convenient valet parking and a hospitable staff. I enjoyed my visit and had a wonderful stay. The bed is always an important asset and the Mayfair did not let me down. Great comfort and fabulous soft linens and pillows. The hotel was gorgeous and we LOVED the rooftop pool. The room was nice and bathroom clean. Only complaint was the expensive breakfast and cocktails. Would definitely stay again though.

The pool was closed for an event - they did not notify when we booked the hotel - also their resturant was closed - the reason we stayed there was to eat there and then go see a show so we had to make different plans...the hot tub in our room did not work they then moved us to a smaller room that looked that it had not been swept after the last guest […] left and when we called the manager was rude and not helpful...stay at the Sonesta or the Ritz Mehr

The hotel staff were very helpful and pleasant. The room has all marble floors - no carpet - and was clean. In spite of 90+ degree weather outside the room was cool and comfortable. The interior of the hotel is open to the sky so it was warm and humid - it's the sub-tropics, so this was no surprise. Nice roof pool. Cocowalk right across the street and […] many restaurants within walking distance. There was a club that was open late and had loud music across from our balcony - this did not bother us but might be a problem for some. We would definitely stay there again. Mehr

I live close to the MayFair Hotel, less than a mile. I have never chossed the hotel, until last friday. And i am asking my self, how could i have missed such a nice place all of this time?. The room was confortable, inviting to stay in it. The design is a bit different than usual, meaning the position of the bead(in an angle). My girlfriend arrived […] latter on, and she would not stop mention how nice everything was. Great bathroom,double sink, TV, marble floors, bath tub-shower conbination(specially the shower head). There is also the terrace jacuzzi Spa(extra charge) very well placed , my girlfriend make sure of that. You can not see into any of the other adjacents rooms. Nice TV, nice table for two, decent mini bar, and a very nice all american breakfast the following morning. Overall, very nice. Coco Walk just right across the street, plus all the restaurants and bars in Coconut Grove just right there. I am looking forward for my next stay, i think i am going to become a regular. This hotel is pretty nice, clean, the bar at the pool label. Also is great to have a jacuzzi.

The Mayfair is a hotel of a 1980 era the rooms are spacious and bathroom also. There are parts of the hotel that are not well kept. We found our balcony contained a whirlpool from the 1980 that was dated old and unkept. If the management would remove this and pay a liitle more attention to the dated equipment the hotel could be much nicer. Also rooms […] are noisy , the doors are not soundproof so you hear everything that goes on in the halls and the doors also have metal door knocks that are quite large, so when your neighbor closes the door you can hear this enormous knocker wake you as it make a very loud sound. One last comment, do not rely on the wake up calls, the staff is not concerned wheather they wake you or not, i over splept the first night and second! Mehr

The hotel worked well for our vacation and sight seeing for the local area. The valet was helpful in getting our car when we wanted it and took good care of the car, which is always a question with various locations. The pool area was on the roof and the first day there was a party that took all of the pool area. The pool bar closed before night came […] so we got a bottle of wine and enjoyed it next to the fountain. Although the hotel has a restaurant there were many restaurants in the area that were more inexpensive and had good food. Mehr

The Mayfair House hotel is one of the nicest properties I've visited. Unique and very chic, it sits in one of Miami's most desirable neighborhoods, Coconut Grove. Rooms are large and well appointed. Only drawback was that the hotel occasionally books private parties by non-guests at the roof top pool. While they make every effort to accommodate you, […] they should be a bit more selective in which groups they book. During our stay there was a U of M 'Thug Party' at the pool, and they were not exactly a class group of people. A property like the Mayfair should be a bit more discriminating in terms of their bookings. Otherwise, however, a great stay. Mehr

My wife and I enjoyed our stay at this eclectic hotel. Nice staff. A little shabby in places but the hotel and surrounding area has soul which is rare in the US. The only issue was lack of WiFi in the rooms so constant popping out into the lobby. Recommended

Beautiful hotel with a wonderful spa. Interior of hotel is open to the elements which was a bit hot & humid on 4th of July weekend. Would stay again in cooler weather.

Spa was a nice touch. Watched Fireworks from roof top cabanas, FYI - the local fireworks were not visible from the roof top lounge, but we could watch in the distance 10 other shows, plus had the convenience of the the great wait staff from the lounge. Had a great time, staff was very helpful.

Hotel was very nice. Especially liked relaxing at rooftop lounge in evening. The only issue we had was outside noise late at night. Given proximity to active nightlife, there were a few occasions where it got loud. (But did not last long.) Other than that, very enjoyable.

It's a bit noisy because of the marble floors...you can hear the guests above walking around, & opening & closing the closet doors. Of course, the marble floors are great for pets...my kitty didn't want to leave! Also, the rooftop bar closes at 8pm, & when there are private parties, hotel guests are not allowed entry.
