Hotel Allegro, a Kimpton Hotel - Chicago

This hotel is located next to the loop , easy access to the airport taking the blue line and no need to exchange trains. We walked everywhere from here and the hotel has great decor plus a nice wine happy hour everyday for free.

Excellent stay at this Kempton. Loved the location. Note: Being from another city I was slightly disappointed as to getting help for methods for getting from hotel to restaurant to United Center.

This hotel is ancient but decorated in a rather trendy style. Room was comfortable and it was a nice luxury that the tub of the shower was much bigger than ours at home. It was a little irritating to find out belatedly that there is local overnight parking for 1/4 as much as what the hotel charges, but we appreciated the in and out privileges of the […] hotel parking. Great hotel at a great price -- really nice feel and friendly staff -- nice happy hour included and room was clean, had plenty of sockets for all elecronics with a very comfortable bed

Hotel was beautiful; elegant and comfortable at the same time. The staff was very friendly and went the extra mile to provide excellent customer service. We will definitely stay here again the next time we're in Chicago!

I had a great time staying here. The concierge was amazing, getting a taxi so quickly was amazing, and the hotel is absolutely beautiful. I wish I was able to stay longer!

Rooms ARE small, but they are nice and the staff was very friendly. Kind of a younger crowd here, great location in the loop. Might be a tad overpriced, but it's Chicago.

We stayed here on New Year's Eve and it was a wonderful experience. The staff was more than accomodating, the atmosphere of the hotel was beautiful & the room was spotless! Would recommend to anyone!!

The deal was great and the location awesome with the Red Line just down the road. The only complaint is the small room and extremely small bathroom. I could stand in the middle of the bathroom and stretch-out both hands and touch (including shower/bath). This was fine because I was alone but for a couple this room would be hard for both to move around […] at the same time. Room was small but we didn't need a whole bunch of empty unused space.Bathroom is tiny but it's not cramped and uncomfortable.We did have an issue with some dogs barking down the hall from us,but my boyfriend called the front desk and they had security on the floor within a few minutes and the issue was resolved promptly,which I appreciate. We ordered […] room service food,our dinner arrived within about a half hour of ordering and was delicious.Server was very courteous.However,the following morning our breakfast was brought to us without a few of the essentials (cream,toast) that were supposed to come with our meals.The latest server was not even apologetic when we had to call the desk for our missing items which we had to wait for and let our food get cold.Other than that,I rather enjoyed my stay there. I highly recommend the Allegro, we stay in hotels about once a month and I'd say the Allegro is in the top 5 overall. The suites have amazing two person bathtubs, the decor is beautiful, the hosted wine reception was fun and all of the staff we're amazingly accommodating. I'd definitely return!

My husband is a Capt. with Air Canada and has stayed at the Allegro as crew in the past which is why we stayed there. However as his wife of 36 years, it was my first time to Chicago and the Allegro. The staff were exemplary , courteous, friendly and accommodating. They readily facilitated getting tickets for us at the House of Blues Gospel Brunch […] as well as a late check out. Convenient location with excellent staff; the rooms could be a little bigger, but all in all, I had a nice stay.

Hotel staff a little snooty if you go thru this website. They gave me a hard time paying with a debit card and double charged me... outherwise great staff away from the front desk and beautiful hotel.

We enjoyed the hotel, its convenient location, reasonable price and overall a nice place, we will be back!

We work nearby and had a nice one night vacation in the city. The rooms are small but nice, overall very comfortable. We will stay there again.

This was my second stay here, and it was even better than the first. The hotel is neat, and all of the staff are friendly and helpful. The complimentary wine hour is a nice way to relax before going out for the evening. Room service was exceptional, especially the spinach and artichoke dip! I'm a Chicago native, but my sister came to town and we wanted to stay downtown. I picked the Allegro for the price, but the price ended up not being the only thing that wowed me about the hotel. The staff was great, pleasant, accommodating, friendly and sharp. The holiday decorations were designed amazingly - a tribute to the overall care and attention […] to detail the hotel in general has - the rooms were clean (smaller than anticipated, but perfect if you won't spend a lot of time in them). Great atmosphere. Love the happy hour every evening and thought the decor was unique. Small rooms but very clean and comfortable.

The bathroom was very small. You walk in and turn around that is the extent of the room -- very small. The decor was great.

What a perfect location to stay while visiting Chicago. Lobby on second floor is cozy, modern, clean, and private. Coffee, hot chocolate, and the New York Times in the morning and wine, beer, and hot cider in the evenings. Right next door to the Cadillac Theater in the Theater District, just a few minutes walk to Macy's, Goodman theater, Oriental Theater, […] Michigan Avenue, Wacker Drive. They upgraded our room because of my back problems and were so accomodating. I don't think we'll ever stay anywhere else. Love this place, oh and the beds are great. Mehr

This Kimption is located in the heart of the theater district and is the closest hotel to the Chicago Lyric Opera on Wacker Drive -- a short walk away. It is also a couple of blocks to the Blue Line train to O'Hare Airport and the Red Line. Given its location, smack in the middle of the Theatre District of Chicago's downtown Loop neighborhood, I expected a fast-paced, faceless attempt at speedy service. I was pleasantly surprised that every employee, from the valet parking attendants, front desk and bell staff, and concierge to the housekeepers and security, always took time to acknowledge […] each guest's needs and ensure everyone is satisfied. I never felt rushed or unimportant; every staff member answered questions patiently and truly seemed to care about my understanding of their explanations. The room was surprisingly well accommodated for an old building; everything worked exactly as it should, nothing leaked, and everything felt new. The rickety old El rattles by a few times an hour; taxis honk and pedestrians scuttle by around the clock. With all the activity, I never felt insecure in walking or driving around the hotel. The famous shops of Michigan Avenue, the Daley Plaza with its Christkindle Market, and countless independent, local, ethnic, and chain restaurants are within walking distance. A short cab ride away are Navy Pier, the Willis (Sears) Tower, and Millenium Park. And, the hotel's location -- literally on top of the Cadillac Theater -- make it an unparalleled location for any downtown Chicago-related business or leisure activities. After extensively searching, I am sure we made the right decision to stay at the Hotel Allegro. Mehr

Not wanting to go to the dreaded country for a long wekend we chose Chicago and we could not have done better. Allgro is in the same building as our Memphis theater, near Michigan Ave. and the Magnificent Mile. The Transit system works very well, right outside Allego's door. When we arrived, it was chaotic in front and no real direction for new arrivals. There was no one to help with luggage and the main lobby was not really secure and it seemed as if anyone could walk in off the street. The hotel was unique but very dated, the look overall could use a makeover. The room was not comfortable and the walls were paper thin […] and the patrons next to me came in late and kept us up late. We came in the first night and after the non-sleeping experience decided to check-out the next day, even though we paid for 2 nights. Upon checking out our car was returned to us with a parking ticket even though we turned it in to the attendant that night. The attendant said it would be taken of but the experience for the whole weekend was terrible and this was my 14th wedding anniversary weekend which i probably would have done better staying home for the weekend. Spent a Friday and Saturday night here. The staff were all very welcomin and helpful both in the hotel and one of it's adjoining bars, Encore. The location was a great access point to all the places we were going in the loop, wicker park and lincoln park. The room extremely clean and comfortable, and what it lacked in size (which is not to call it small) […] it made up for in style. Booked a Deluxe King room, but there is no way that bed was a king size bed. The front desk insisted that it was a king size bed, but I know the difference between a king and a double. Also at 7:30 in the morning, there were workers drilling or something in a room above us to wake us up from our small bed. I cannot recommend this place.

Good location to both theater, parks and financial district. Nightly wine tasting is fun and coffee/hot chocolate every morning is convenient. Only negative was that our room had no counter in the bathroom. Seems minor, and the room was big enough that something could have been put in, but was a bit of a pain to get ready in the morning. The Allegro Hotel is very conveniently located in the Chicago loop....Wine Reception was great....

This was a funky, cool, modern hotel. It was a very fun hotel, and it was in a great location -- close to theater, Christkindlemarkt, etc.

The staff is friendly, helpful and knowledgable. I loved staying at this hotel

Having gotten a prepaid reservation at a decent price for a hotel right downtown, I wasn't expecting much. Boy was I surprised! From the minute I walked in the place was just gorgeous! I love the vibrant colors and interesting decorating. The staff was so wonderfully polite and helpful. There's a daily wine/beer reception in the lobby, which is quite […] spacious. When we checked in, the receptionist provided us with information on some local events as well. The neighborhood felt very safe and we had no problems walking around in the evening. The room was also very well maintained and cleaned and the bed was simply the most comfortable bed I've ever slept on. My only complaint is that there was a door between our room and the next and the walls were quite thin, so we could hear the TV, discussions, and other noises of our neighbors. I found this hotel a convenient location close enough to all the downtown attraction of chicago but a nice distance to enable you to walk and experience the sights. The opportunity to meet other guests at the happy hour is a great benefit.

Really enjoy the Kimpton brand of hotels. Always clean, comfortable and little extras. Lots of attention to the details.

The hotel has undergone a much needed redecoration and upgrade since we last stayed there. It's quite handsome now with small but excellent bathrooms and very comfortable beds. There is always such a welcoming buzz in the lobby of people having fun. No doubt the 5-6 pm free wine reception helps. The staff is friendly and helpful.
