The Westin La Paloma Resort and Spa - Tucson

The Westin La Paloma has never failed to please during my stays. It's comfortable, offers a nice array of on-site facilities, is convenient to restaurants, and is at the base of the foothills offering easy access to the Catalina Mountains.

On one day the room was'nt cleaned until after 5:00 pm and on another after 4:00 pm after I had to call front desk. Double beds are too small should be full size.

Wireless was not dependable; received but couldn't send out emails for the entire 4 days. Bed was so uncomfortable for first 2 nights, we were moved which was fine except that room's air condoitioning was not workingf. They offered to move us again for our fourth and final night but this was getting ridiculous. Staff are wonderful. Food in Azul, great! […] pool and area, well-maitained. The resort is excellent overall. The quality of construction means that when people are bouncing around at another part of your room's building, you hear the noise and feel the shake. Fortunately, it was a pretty quiet weekend -- but I can imagine that it would be difficult if there was a rowdy bunch on your floor.

We found the room really comfortable. It was a generous size & the views of the golf course & surrounding Catalinas were terrific. Staff was helpful, but not many guests during our stay. The grounds are well maintained & it's easy to find your way around the facility. Previous guests complained that the room decor was dated, which may be true, but it […] is not in poor repair and is not something out of the 80s or 90s. We weren't disappointed. Mehr

Beautiful setting in the foothills of the Catalina Mountains. Magnificent entryway, lobby, and lounge looking out through massive windows onto the beautiful pool area with the mountains in the background. Comfortable, quiet room. Great Sunday brunch.

Major disconnect between lobby and rooms. Great staff and great restaurants

This resort was probably amazing when it first opened but now after some years the wear is showing through. The heater made a heck of a noise when it was on, the paint looked as though it could use some help and the rooms seemed like they could use a little TLC.

The hotel placed us in with a wedding party that we were not part of. We were kept up until 3:30am by loud partying and constant rucous of slamming doors, screaming and nonsense. We had to call security three times and on the third time it finally quit at 3:30am. We reported this at checkout and they offered to do nothing and simply said sorry. This […] seems to be their practice to place non wedding party guests who are there for a relaxing time, in with others who are there to enjoy themselves. The hotel was nice but not as clean and beautiful as I expected it to be after viewing the pictures online. I would hope that someone who is there for a relaxing spa weekend would have a better time than we did. Thanks! Mehr

It is clear that the hotel is old and shows its age. I have stayed there before and believe it is now way past its prime. Grounds are not well maintained. Gym has old equipment. Frequently saw trash (empty bottles, cans, food trays littered through out the complex). Rooms were old. There are much better hotels in the area.

I stayed in this hotel 2 nights with my elderly mother. Our room had previous water damage and wreaked of mildew. It was too inconvenient to move to another room so we toughed it out. We ate lunch in the restaurant it was mediocre quality. The waiter stepped on my mothers toe with his full weight and hurt her and removed her plate before she was finished […] her food. Mehr

This hotel is showing its age (25). Maintenance seems to be slipping, there is peeling paint on outside, older furnishings and the staff let empty beer cans and cups sit around in the pool area. When we booked the room it came with a resort credit but the staff at the hotel acted like they had no idea what that was about. Fortunately, Hotels.com made […] a few calls and got it straightened out for us (Thanks John in Missouri - you're the best!), otherwise La Paloma was going to hang us out to dry on that. The room was clean but is very dated. Food was good at the hotel eateries, but not great. This hotel tacks on a $15 'resort fee' that they do not tell you about before you book. Mehr

Had a very nice stay in Tucson. The kids really enjoyed the pool area. Great place to stay. Highly recommend!

This resort is amazing! The views from our room were stunning. Its location was minutes away from nice restaurants and stores. The pool was great for the kids and adults. Plenty of space for everyone to enjoy the sun. I was very impressed.

The hotel is in a lovely area and very close to shopping and great restaurants. But, for the price, the room is very run down and needs updating.

I was extremely excited about the hotel as we pulled up...the view is amazing, the grounds are beautiful; however, the rooms are in need of a major update. For the price, I was expecting a resort feel, but instead it felt like an old apartment. It needed a facelift...new paint, new carpet, new bath, etc., and the walls were so thin and uninsulated that […] we heard every word and every movement of our neighbors. Other than that, it is close to great food, great galleries, and beautiful trails. I only wish the room was as good inside as it was out. Mehr

The Westin at la Paloma Resort is staffed with very friendly people, fantastic food and relaxing pools and spas. We ate twice at the hotel restaurant and once at Janos (also on grounds) and were surprised and very much pleased with the quality of both restaurants. We enjoyed our stay so much we found no reason to venture out to town. The golf course […] was a bit more challenging than our skill could accommodate but the views we well worth the cost. I visited Tuscon in early October with my husband while he was attending a conference at Univ Arizona. The hotel is about a 20 minute drive from campus, and we found the view and accommodations well worth the drive. Our view of the mountains and 9th hole was fantastic and the balcony was the perfect place to watch both the sunset and storms off in the […] distance. Getting to and around town from the resort was easy, and staff provided nice recommendations for avoiding traffic and construction. Sabino Canyon and the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum are both short drives away making easy afternoon side trips. (Don't miss Tucson Mineral and Gem World if you like rocks, fossils and desert history!) We dined in three hotel restaurants, but JBar was my favorite for atmosphere (upscale but unpretentious) and menu (creative and tasty with a good tequila selection). Notably, the pool area is outstanding; and for those of us traveling without children, we certainly appreciated an "adults only" side of the pool grounds. I would absolutely stay here again. Mehr

The location of the hotel is great and the main building and pool area are beautiful, but the rooms are tired and in need of a update. The first room that we were given (a "preferred guest room") had a musty smell, a broken screen door to the balcony and there was a table but no chairs outside. We switched rooms and the new room was clean and had all […] the furniture, but we still expected more from a four star resort. The furniture was a bit worn and overall the room felt tired. The bed linens were clean and comfortable, but the towels were not plush and there were no robes in the room. The grounds and pool area are good for the most part, though the landscaping away from the main building could use some more attention in places and they should have people at the pool area cleaning up throughout the afternoon, rather than at the end of the day once trash has started to pile up. The Sunday brunch, while not cheap, is delicious and beautifully presented. Overall, the hotel is beautiful and in a great location; it's just in need of an update and some more attention paid to the little things that make a big difference in the customers' experiences. I booked one night here for our 25th wedding anniversary at a pretty good rate. Upon entering our room we found the fridge was not working and there were dirty dishes outside our room(not ours) that remained there during our entire stay. Our contract stated that check out was at 12:00 but we were awaken by housekeeping at 7:35 A.M. , there was not a […] do not disturb door hanger to be found in the room. Mehr

The lobby and grounds were very nice but the room was old and tired. The room A/C rattled all night long, mini bar was empty and the pay per view was not working. This area has better choices for the money.

The pool area atmosphere is the best. With the music playing in the background and the drinks brought to us, we were in heaven! We loved the cold plunge and hot tub and then laying out on the grass looking up at the spectacular Catalina Mountains. We could have stayed here for days! Don't forget J-Bar restaurant, our fave!!!!

We expected a top notch resort and felt it did not compare to other resorts that we have stayed in in Arizona and California. Eventhough there were many conventions being presented there, we found litter all over the grounds, especially close to the main building. Towels were not plush in the rooms or at the pools, nor were the robes at the Red Door […] Spa. Also, they were rather stingy with the bathroom shampoos, soaps, etc. I don't think I would stay there again. Mehr

We really enjoyed staying at the resort. The only thing we did not like was the long walk between the parking area and the room, other than that we enjoyed the resort very much. Would definitely stay at the resort again.

Kudos on all aspects of Hotel, my only desire for improvement would be ease of walking to pool. Quite a treck from my room, and in the heat of the summer the cool water of the pool was a welcome relief. Other than that, the staff and personal attention given to the guest comfort and every "need" was excellent! Thank you

The only drawback for the hotel, was that my husband dropped off a basket at the lobby and was told that the basket would be in the room for my daughter and her husband before they arrived. The room was a gift for their honeymoon. The basket never arrived until the following morning. I was repeatedly assured that it would be there waiting for the newlyweds, […] but it was not. The hotel is beautiful, but the brunch that we enjoyed the next morning with the my daughter and her new husband was severely overpriced. Mehr

La Paloma's room exceeded my expectations, however I did opt for the best one that was not the suite. The surroundings are great, so I had a nice balcony with a great view. The only thing I didn't like was the fact that parking was hard to find. It was far from my room too and since everything is somewhat "outdoorsy" I ended up having to trek through […] some bushes and cacti to cut closer to my room which I wasn't too happy about. Overall, it was a pleasant stay with a comfortable bed. Mehr

The hotel had a wedding or some sort of reception and we were kept awake at 3 AM and 4 AM by loud drunken rantings.

This was a fantastic deal. The staff was excellent-friendly and helpful. the room was beautiful. The only criticism is noisy children in the pool late into the night.
