The Westin Crown Center - Kansas City

Was upset when I checked that we had a room with a king rather than the two doubles I tho poked through hotel.com

Loved the 6th floor outdoor patio area.

Very expensive for older hotel in Midwest city. Was comfortable. Ugly concrete and low ceilings in lobby with 70s style mall attached.

The hotel staff was very friendly and the room was comfortable. Very convenient to shopping.

We stayed at the Westin for a 3 night getaway and were not pleased to find hidden charges when we arrived. First off, parking is $15 a day, there aren't any optional lots or garages, a clever little trick to lowered the nightly room rate without actually lowere the price. Next up, they charge you to use the fitness "facility", yup the room rate will […] get you a bed and elevator use, I wouldn't have been surprised if the maids left a bill on the pillow after discovering the fitness center charge. We also paid for a premium floor, the premium means its too high to open the balcony door apparently as is had a built in stop allowing the door to open only a few inches. Room was nice, location was nice, but I'll try something else next time I'm in town. Mehr

I was surprised at the upcharge to park our car, and was quoted two different prices for parking. I was disgusted that a hotel charging their rates was compelled to charge for internet access. I won't be back!

I have stayed at this hotel aleast once a year for the past 8 years. I keep giving them a chance. The rooms have not been updated. They look worst the and old motel on the side of the road. The lobby looks great! For the price this is not a good value. We went during the Big 12 BBall tournment. Our Tv did not work. We called down many times but did […] not get it fix until the last day we were there. Just not worth paying 3x what we could have paid to stay somewhere else. Mehr

Nice Hotel.

the first nite we burned up it was so hot couldnt turn down the heat and they fixed it the next day and next nite we froze couldnt get it to warm up it was terrible

The hotel was nice and clean. The bed was very comfortable. Had to bring my puppy with me and they gave us a balcony room that had a grass area which made letting the dog out so convenient. I was satisfied with the stay.

This hotel is very convenient to lots of activities and restaurants and shops. We stayed on a day the Oakland Raiders were in the hotel and it was inconvenient for other guests because areas and elevators were restricted. Otherwise, a good place to stay.

Great location, clean room, but the entire hotel needs an overhaul. It's not really on par with other Westin properties. Our room's AC/heating unit was extremely noisy and the layout of the room is awkward. Attentiveness of staff was patchy as well.

I know it was x-mas but it would've been nice if more things were open

Great location to things downtown- once we parked, we didnt leave- just walked everywhere! Staff was very nice- grood views- will come back! Rooms slightly outdated- but clean and have some modern touches to try and keep it updated.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights, and were not impressed. The building is obviously dated, and the room, while comfortable was not as nice as I was expecting for what we paid. I think the prices reflect the location rather than the hotel itself. Crown Center is a decent shopping area during the day, but don't go here looking for night life. […] Union Station was absolutely amazing though (connected by skybridge to the Westin). I highly recommend the Parisi Cafe - excellent coffee, and Pierponts restaurant-delicious steak and seafood, amazing wine. Mehr

One of my favorite places to stay in KC. Love the location. The service is always excellent, and the beds are very comfortable.

BATHROOM WAS DIRTY NO WATER PRESSURE OR HOT WATER FOR SHOWER IN MORNING.

Everyone we came into contact with at the Westin was very nice, helpful and efficient! the entrance was a little difficult even with GPS because of one way streets, but I would still stay here especially if going to Crown Center!!!

The entry, lobby, and atrium are dramatic. The room was nice, although the "balcony" every room has is pretty useless.The fact that the hotel is connected The Crown Center Shopping Mall is a plus. The downtown location is convenient. But, remember this is a Westin, which means you pay for everything but breathing. Internet is extra. The swimming pool […] is free, but if you want to use the treadmill, its extra. The Business Center, a free or low cost amenity at many hotels, charges more per hour than most people pay for a full month at home, and the prices to print are ridiculous. I'm used to business travel, and for paying for things, but this felt a little excessive. Mehr

The beds looked so comfortable, but because the mattress are thick, it is difficult for the housekeeper to tuck in the bottom flat sheet or use a fitted sheet. The bottom sheet is draped over the mattress and mattress protector. I am a light sleeper and when I moved around in bed, the mattress pad shifted and made uncomfortable lumps to sleep on, The […] mattress is so thick, that a regular size sheet couldn't be tucked in on the sides of the bed. Could this problem be solved?--perhaps with using larger sheets, so that sheets could be tucked in on the sides with the use of one of those tools advertized on TV to help the housekeeper. It is not possible for the housekeeper to tuck the sheet in at the head of the bed because of the weight of the mattress. Otherwise, we had a wonderful time at the hotel. I was a little put off with how they charged for parking. I notified the Front Desk person (during casual conversation) that my mother was out in the car waiting for me so we could go find a place to park. She tacked on this parking charge to my room rate even though we never parked in the hotel's parking lot! We are from KC and were there visiting […] family. We normally stay at the neighboring hotel when we come into town (because I work for that company), but they were sold out this trip and I could not get my comp/employee rate room. Point being - we know that nearby parking is free after 5:00 PM on Fridays through Sundays. So, come Sunday morning when the folio is slid under my door, I have a $30 parking charge even though I never parked in their lot. They removed the charged after I had to explain all of the above to the FD person Sunday morning. But, what a pain that was! The hotel itself is very cute. We had a great experience at the Westin. The rooms were great and the facilities well maintained. Nice bar and lots of places to eat with the mall attached to the hotel. The location was great for doing some site seeing and only about 15 min. from Kauffman Stadium where we were going to see a game. Only complaint was feeling like everything was an additional […] charge. They had a great fitness center, but t killed me to have to pay $5 for it each time I worked out and then I needed to use the business center for less than 5 minutes and they charged me again not realizing I could have used the computer in the lobby. I realize it caters to businesses, but it was annoying. Overall, we were very happy and would stay there again. Mehr

The Westin was a very nice hotel. Clean, staff was friendly, and loved the location! I wasn't expecting for the crown shops to be connected to the hotel. That was very convenient because of the heat outside and the fact that we had children. The only thing I would complain about was the fact that we could hear a baby crying all night in the next room. […] The doors in between the rooms let every sound in. I would definitely stay again! My husband and I were pleased wth the cleanliness of our room, and felt that the Westin staff were very accomodating! The Sunday brunch at the Benton was absolutely delicious - maybe the best brunch experience we've had, worth the price! Our only complaint was that the air conditioner in our room could not keep up with even the humidity caused by our […] showers each morning. We set the thermostat on 70 degrees and it was never got below 74. Interestingly enough, the hallways were chilly! Valet parking was handy, but at a price, of course. Mehr

My husband and I recently visited KC to celebrate our 5yr Anniversary. The staff at the Westin were excellent and very informative about what to do in KC. The hotel is right in the heart of downtown, close to The Plaza and Westport! A great weekend getaway no matter the occasion.

Had a great time at the Westin Crown Facility. My brothers and I had a memorable weekend being so close to downtown, I would definitely recommend this hotel to others.

Toilet seat was broken and a/c didn't cool enough for my comfort but it was manageable. The hotel is nice and service is great. Broken lid was fixed with minutes. Vaket your car for four dollars more.

Terrible service. Front staff was very unfriendly. Had my wife and I staying in two double beds, despite the fact that we had a non-refundable room booked with a king bed. They made no apologies and seemed to not even care. Also, we did not have the heavenly shower in our room (one of my main reasons for choosing this hotel over Marriott and Hyatt). […] However, the front desk claimed that all rooms had the shower. Furthermore, the shower pressure was downright terrible. It took about 15 minutes to take a simple shower because it took so long to wash off the soap. Lastly internet service was $10/day...are you kidding me? Motel 6 has free wifi. Won't be staying at a Westin anytime soon. I encourage you to stay at the Hyatt or Marriott, if traveling to the KC area. Mehr

Best hotel I have stayed in over the last few years. Staff was very friendly. Workout facility and pool were very well maintained and up to date. Best buffet breakfast in any hotel I have ever visited. Will defenitely stay here agian if I visit KC again.

Nice hotel - brutal valet parking. Go ahead and self park here. You will get your car quicker AND won't feel like someone kicked your teeth in, additionally, you will leave there knowing that you didn't ruin someones day by forcing them to go get your car. Basically, I am saying that the valet at this hotel is RUDE and they really don't want you to […] valet park there. So if you do please stiff them on the tip and smile by knowing that you did me a favor. Mehr
